All that effort painting and sealing the bases just to cover it all up…

Legs! I never much cared for the Skropekh Destroyers’ tripod legs, so when I happened across some nice 3D printed one I jumped on it. They were even available on Shapeways! The Lord legs weren’t initially, but I bugged the seller and he added those as well. The regular Destroyers are assembled “wrong” because it’s actually designed as a full bit that replaces the legs during construction, but mine were already built so I clipped off the spines and pinned them. Will have to get these repainted and based this week now. Warriors included for scale.

Painted up the legs on the Skorpekhs and got started on their basing. Still gonna take a few days to have bases done.

Albany, NY

Skorpekh with chunky human legs O_O While I think I prefer the concept of the original, they're IMO pretty badly executed by GW, plus I've never seen a sculptor pull off tri-legs. Szeras is the best of the skittery bois ... but he's both better designed and has four legs

Anyway, cool twist that works particularly well on the grunts but is still neat on the lord

Painted legs! Went ahead and bases the Plasmacyte and Reanimator while I was at it to get all* the stuff that shared their tray.

So with the legs painted, I really like the way they look on the Skorpekh Destroyer grunts. Maybe a tad wide in the hips, but a very good height and scale. Gonna try some of these out on Heavy Lokhust Destroyers next and see how that works out.

Skorpekh Lord isn’t Bad meanwhile, but it’s not as good. I think his legs are a bit too large, like they were scaled for the height of his arching shoulder armor and not where his head and shoulders actually are. Might have been done to match the height of his tripod. Depending on how the above mentioned Lokhust mod works out, I may be pestering the maker for some of a different pose and possibly see if he can do a not quite as large set and reredo the Lord’s legs again.

And once again, you can find these at;

First model built* in many a month! I’ve wanted to do a Hexmark Destroyer for a long while, but missed it when it first came out and we’ve never been able to restock it for some reason. Recently came across one when I was conducting reconnaissance on the competition in Ankeny and snatched it up. Since my original desire was always to use it against Judy’s Sisters, and I’ve got my first game scheduled in many a month against Judy’s Sisters tomorrow, I figured I should try to get it table ready right quick so it can pew pew them right fierce. Gonna see how much paint and I can on it tonight.

*Obviously it’s missing it’s legs yet. I didn’t think to grab the alternate bipedal Destroyer legs I’ve got and I want to see how it would look on those first to match my bipedal Skorpekhs.

After messing with the list I wanted to take, I ended up with a pretty Destroyer centric theme so instead I half painting the Hexmark from yesterday I built a pair of the Lokhust Heavy Destroyers I’ve been sitting on. Mimicked my old style of them to change their lower bodies into jet packs and gave them normal legs as well. The larger size of these makes them less dynamic and able to swing the jet pack up for use, it’s more locked to the back in this iteration, but still looks pretty good imho. Trimmed the internal pegs on the guns so those can be swapped out for either option.

Those look great! I never would have considered giving them legs: the hexmark especially looks super cool!

Took my Monolith to a tournament early this month, which meant I had to attach it to its base, which meant I had to finally get around to doing it’s base.

Edit: Aaaaaand it did the thing where it uploaded the thumbnail sideways…

Got my Mr Boopers all painted up. Pretty happy with how it turned out all considered. Not pictured in this post is their little button dock that allows them to be wearable on a shoulder or sleeve.
