Apart from the Vril there are other options. They can split the factions, Italy, Japan and Germany make up the Axis and all still have their own army and walker designs. The allies are even more countries and the SSU consists of Russia and China. And then there are the neutral countries like Argentina.

So there are ways to create other factions that in the background are on the same side but that doesn't mean they always get along.

I hope that the Vril aren't the little Grey aliens. Of course, some abductees have reported tall Greys, and even some Nordic ET's that could almost pass for ordinary Earth people. And then there are also the Reptillians that David Icke is always spouting off about. (Just so where's clear, I do not endorse his beliefs. I consider the Pope and the Queen mum perfectly capable of serious world-class evil without being alien shape shifters.)

Okay, I went and did some quick research, and it seems the Vril aren't aliens after all. Oh well, hope remains.

Considering what the Hecaton looks like, I don't think we have much to worry about.

"I've started HECATON project thanks to Paolo Parente, the creator of DUST.

He asked me to create a subject for his fantastic world, precisely for Vrill alien robo-army."

Bit old, yes, but I wouldn't honestly expect too far astray of that.

Except the Dust Vril are ET's, rumored to be at war with a different ET. But, they are based on the Coming Race.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

Vril are planning to take over earth, for that you can blame the Dust Germans, they thawed the explorer from the Vril wreck on Antarctica and got the ball rolling. On the bright side, we all have robots now?

Quite a lot of the book is rules, lists, etc. and it is definitely not DT + a little bit etxra. It plays different, though many elements are still there.

I was asking if the background was more detailed than that available in DT, not the rules

I would say there is as much background as in the AT-43 core book. So you get more fluff than in DT but it is still not an in-depth look on every faction.

I wrote a review of the Dust Warfare rulebook once I had a chance to read it thoroughly, it might be of some interest to you guys as I do (I think) a reasonable job summarizing the mechanics as well:

The review sounds good, thank you. I'd be interested to see your opinions after a few larger games, to see if your opinions change

Suppresion sounds cool. Now we can actually force a unit to run by volume of fire without even killing them.

Operation Zverograd rules are now on-line: http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/dust-tactics/support/OpZverograd_Rulebook_sm.pdf

Read it all here: http://new.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=3242

For work blocked:

Uncover the secrets of the doomed city with the Operation “Zverograd” campaign expansion for Dust Tactics! You can now read the rules for the latest operation on the Dust Tactics support page. Filled with background information, new rules and skills, and a unique hero, Operation “Zverograd” introduces the powerful Sino-Soviet Union to Dust Tactics.

The new home for a better future

Established as a beacon of communism, the city of Zverograd was once the pride the Soviet Union, but a strange discovery underneath the city changed everything. Now, the Axis and Allies barrage the city, possessed with securing whatever waits below the city for themselves. The Soviets still defend their prize, but now they march into battle with their Chinese allies as the Sino-Soviet Union.

Fight for the future with the hero of Operation “Zverograd” and her customized walker. A legendary soldier, Koshka enters battle inside “Grand’ma,” an altered KV47. She is the first hero in Dust Tactics to feature pilot skills, allowing her to pilot her walker during the battle. Deploy Koshka and lead the forces of the SSU to victory in five exciting scenarios and an optional prologue scenario!

The Operation “Zverograd” campaign expansion also includes components for a single level of the building set, exciting new rules and skills, and background information for the SSU. We’ve already looked at the rules for aircraft, and the unit cards for Koshka and “Grand’ma,” now you can prepare for the invasion by downloading the complete rules (pdf, 3.0MB).

www.Dust-League.Com has an interview with Andy Chambers.

The title "Ten things you never knew about . . . ." says it all.
If you are looking for an insight into game design and what is coming next for Dust, then this is not the interview for you.
If you want to have a few minutes reading something meant as a bit of fun then have a look at the answers Andy Chambers gave to the questions he got asked.

Dust-League.Com has an interview with Mack Martin.

As is always the case with the interviews done by the dust-league, you will not find any game design secrets or rules explinations. What you will get is fun answers to questions intended as a bit of fun.

Ten Things You Never Knew About Mack Martin

On the subject of the SSU cards. So far there isn't a single unit I don't like (both as a player and opponent).

So it's got all the SSU units in it? With the DW book being brand new, wouldn't it have been easier to just include it in the main book? Or are they planning to do separate army books for everything?

There plan is campaign books with the newest units from all the faction in it. Rumors have it at 4 campaign books a year at 20US each.
