You have legs, why do you need a car?

(I mean I assume you have legs, very sorry if I'm wrong)

Canonically Superman has long had a variety of Supermobile space ships for space missions where he might encounter kryptonite, a red sun or need to carry other folks.

This ain't a great one but it's a nice generic sci fi ship that might be of interest.

Sprayed with Halfords' matt Khaki camouflage paint, then airbrushed over with a two-colour camo pattern.

Washed with 50/50 Aggaros Dunes and Contrast Medium. I love that thinned Contrast paints work as both a wash (to pick out detail) and a filter (to bring the colours together by adding a coloured tint over the entire model).

As I said before, total outlay was about £15/$20 for 5 Space Marine style fighting vehicles. Colour may be a bit saturated for a realistic look, but I'm fine with that.

Those look fantastic. If I didn't know, I would have assumed it was some aftermarket resin kit.

Thanks Eilif!

Thanks!

Yeah, it's the Marvel Legends movie release of the 2007 Incredible Hulk: Abomination.

He is my FECs allied gargant.
I had some bits left over from my terrorgheists, McFarlane Hellraiser, Norsemen, and a chicken leg I had for dinner.

I repainted him to better suit the coloring of my FEC.
Used superglue to lock the joints.
Miliput to hide the joints and add extra flesh around the back spikes.
Most everything is held on by superglue and reasoned away as "They just hooked it on his flesh".

I was unsure of how the head area was going to turn out but I am really happy with it. I used the extra "fur" from the terrorgheist as sparse hair poking out from under the shield to give it more depth.

Thanks for that explanation. It's a great result. Using shields as armor is a cool narrative element.

If I can get a Rhino to fit in its hull it will be PERFECT.

Since it's Batman, it's already Grimdark.

This already shares a lot of design DNA with the Space Wolf fliers (i.e. a brick with engines).

Got my JLA Hot Wheels Flying Fox, Batman Flying Brick thing.

She's a big girl.

She'll need work of course, the lack of engines is the biggest issue, also the lack of detail on the bottom. But still a great basis.

Tempted to now get the bigger, action figure sized Flying Fox.

Why would the fins need cut off? Anything flying through atmospheres need some sort of stabilizers.

Some toys I saw on Amazon: for $20, you get a decent tank, a cool fighter, and a helicopter you’ll need to chop up and heavily convert to use.

I like the fighter. It could be useful for 5 Parsecs or Stargrave.

There's some potential there, but those are really big vehicles. Even the tank.

I believe Ravensburger Space Hawk was mentioned some time ago.

I missed them on clearance a few years back but my 10yo son found one at resale this weekend. Neat ship with an openable cargo bay. It's is missing one of two rear landing gear but it perches fine on the front strut and rear fuselage.

He wants us to paint it up in a Haloish OD. It's hard to express the depth of my pride as on the ride home he pointed out that it was useable in different scales.

To illustrate that, here's a 1/18 (3.75") Stormtrooper, 28mm Chaos warrior and 1/144 Gundam.

The latest Dollar Tree tank might have some utility.
You can order them online, but only in cases of 32!
https://www.dollartree.com/colored-toy-army-tanks/313842
It's friction powered and the last pic is of the friction power motor disassembled easily by hand. Nice little terrain junk bits

The Final Faction Alpha Team weapons packs might be useful for sci-fi-ing up the tanks. They are orderable in quantities of 5.
https://www.dollartree.com/final-faction-alpha-team-1-accessorie/323646
There are new weapons packs coming out soon, but nothing yet.

Damn, that tank scales nice. It could easily work as terrain itself. All that for a dollar? Been meaning to go to DT myself sometime. I need a cannon for my Beastmen army as well as trying to source batwings that will work on the pewter 6th Ed. Harpies.

I'd forgotten about that article.

I don't let my kids play with toys like that. First of all, war toys breed cruelty in children's behavior.

Patently false. My children play with war toys and have no cruelty to their behavior. Same as several families I interact with on a daily basis. Might I ask what it is about said toys that you think breeds said behavior?

Yeah if someone really, really, really thinks that a forum dedicated to a toy soldier game where supermen hack up fungus monsters with chainsaws would benefit from a deep dive into the issue of whether of war toys cause violence, feel free to start a new thread.

Because honestly whenever someone starts saying that my miniature collection makes people violent I just wanna smack in the face, knock em over, kick em a few times and then defenestrate them for good measure.

(Y'know thinking about why does the English language need a dedicated word for throwing someone out the window? Is this like something we do so often we need a word for it? Maybe it's English that makes us violent.)
