Proper job! The guys look great Gwyn, the edge highlighting works really well on them, as does the OSL

Thanks gobert!

Switching back to some Necrons for a bit. These guys were already varying stages of metallically primed from the previous owners, so they already look decent with just the purple shoulders done!

Great work Gwyn. The Flesh Tearer bases look so pleasant and at odds with the chainsword wielding maniacs striding across them

Nice to see some more Necrons, the skull faces look great.

Thanks all! These guys have so many fun details compared to the old ones. And with the new wear-and-tear look of them, I couldn't help but stain them a little when I did the metallic!

I know a slow trickle of grunts isn't exactly captivating blog-work, but it keeps me somewhat motivated so.

The best stage is always the green though. This is when they really turn into something real!

I like 'em, and slow and steady gets the job done.

That green motif you've got going isn't so much metallic glow (to my eye, anyways) as Mephistophelean flames. I forget which fantasy series had in it 'skeletons which 'flamed eerie green' but flames or metal glow, you've captured it well!

Good progress Gwyn, the green really does help them stand out super well. My plog is usually full of slow plodding through troops too, so no complaints from me! Keep em comin!

Thanks for the kind words all!

it's been a wild month: I don't recommend spreading a move out over two weeks, it doesn't lessen the stress it just means it takes more days.

But, at least I've gotten good photos of the finished Necron Warriors!

Moving is always a pita! Good to see you’ve managed to finish up the Necrons in the new place, the first of many

Yeah, moving is hell. Awesome Necron warriors, and you need to paint up the grunts as an excuse to paint the exciting bits.

Thanks all! They were really mostly painted at my old place, it just took me a while to get to them for the finishing touches. You know how it is.

And yeah, grunts before exciting bits. Speaking of, it's time to paint a character!

Specifically, Hasmoteph the Resplendent, the Necron Lord/Overlord with a Staff of Light and Resurrection Orb.

With these, I decided to play with some wet blending on the orb. I tried two different schemes. The first was a dark green swirl, but then I added yellow sparkles in it which I wasn't so happy with it.

After that I had the idea to try it as a dark purple nebula orb with white stars. Not convinced yet. Might go back to the dark green swirl with wet blending just without any dots. Thoughts?

Also, I did the vanes on the staff of light, which is the same in both versions. I'm not super happy with them, I want to go back and try and get a smoother wet blended transition between the colours and figure out my colour placement better. This is a character, he should have at LEAST as good blending on the blades as the Lychguard got!

Moving sucks the big one, but at least the worst is hopefully done with!

I like the second orb, the night sky in the palm of their hand is a cool idea.

Thanks Olthannon!

Once the body is done up, I might do some purple OSL from the orb, which will be interesting with the green OSL coming from the staff...

Speaking of green, I got most of the green parts done up, excepting the staff of light vanes which I've reblacked to try again.

Looking good Gwyn, the changes up vanes do look better! Good choice. The purple orb will be even cooler with a bit of OSL too!

Thanks guys!

Did the bone faceplate and starting on the gold. This model is tricky with my scheme: how much purple and how much gold do I do for the face and chest? I’m unsure. Maybe the cartouches in gold but the rest in purple?

Edit: nooooooo I just saw the fleck of gold on the ball on the staff. Agghhhh
