Captain K, and others here is the list you asked for next Saturday.  I have replaced the gernade launchers and mortars as you suggested.  My basilisk is one of the older models in my collection and was modeled with the pinticle storm bolter.  Let me know if I need to make any other changes.

My comments are below:

remove the flamers and meltaguns. This squad is merely here to provide leadership. They will never have range to use these. Put those points elsewhere.

Fire Support: Auto Cannon Squad: 105 Heavy Bolter Squad: 90

Add sharpshooters to these squads. With so many multishot weapons, this is the only case where SS is useful.

Troops: Junior Officer, bolt pistol, power weapon, Iron disciplin 51 Melta Gun X2 20 Auto Cannon Crew 15

Drop the Power weapon. This guy will never be able to use it. Just make it a Close combat weapon. No meltaguns. Again with a static squad they'll never use them. so why pay the points for them?

Squad 1: 95 1 sgt 9 troops Plasma gun Las Cannon Squad 2: 95 Same as above

Good choices.

Troop 2: Armored Fist 180 Chimera 85 Multa Laser, Heavy bolter on hull Sgt 9 troops Plasma gun Las cannon

Another good choice, but I would add this squad to you line squads if possible and add a meltagun to your AF squad.

Fast Attack: 115 Hell Hound

Make sure your hellhound has Pintle heavy stubber and extra armor. Anything else is a waste.

Heavy Support Basilisk 135 indirect fire, pinticle storm bolter and hull mounted heavy bolter

Drop the stormbolter. Even if it is modeled, just don't pay the points for it. Use those 10pts elsewhere.

I do have the Sharpshooters on the two Fire Support Squads that is why one is 105 and the other is 90.

I think I can do the some of the other changes and still have about the same points.

The Stubber will cost 12 points and extra Armor will be 5 points.  Should I take a Standard or Medic in my Command Squad?  That would be 22 points as well.

That would leave 33 points, if I did the math right with out having the codex in front of me..

Power Weapon? When's he gonna swing? Bolt Pistol? What for? And 2 Flamers and 2 Meltas? Mixed weapons that do utterly different things? And no standard?

CHQ's cost 81 points. They have a JO w/Honorifica, a Standard Bearer, Iron Discipline and that's it. Occasionally they have Camaleoline or Light Infantry, but they very rarley ever get weapons added to them. You can trim 17 points from this unit and have better Leadership Radius + a Re-Roll.

Auto Cannon Squad: 105
Heavy Bolter Squad: 90


Nearly 20% of your army in 12 men... hmm...  and why are they 10 points more? They should be 95 and 80 respectivley. What Doctrine did you take? At 1000 you can get away with an HB FS squad, maybe with a 10 point Doctrine. But not two, and especially not Autocannons.

Another bad unit. This unit would do better with 4 Flamers, Iron Discipline and that's all. You can save another 37 points from this unit. Add that to the other 17 points and you get 54. That's 5.4% of your army, which is huge at this points level. If you ditch the Autocannons and whatever 10 point Doctrine you've got on the HB squad, you get 169, 16.9% of your entire army back (enough to buy you a second Hellhound!).

Given the context of a mega-game, you can get away with a single Chimera. Use it as a moving shield for the Hellhound.

Fine, but I'd use the points saved on useless upgrades in the Command Units to improve the killy-ness and protective-ness of this unit and the Chimera (Stubbers, EA, Smoke, etc.).

Then cut it off. Not only are Pintle Stormbolters horrible wastes of points, but on a Basilisk you'll never get to fire it, firstly because firing Ordnance stops you from firing it and secondly becuase you'll never have a target to fire it at! As I said, cut it off.

H.B.M.C, the context of the mega battle was not properly portrayed. There are some things that make it different.
Firstly, its cities of death. Also, theres a special force org. 1 HQ 2+troops 0-1 elites 0-1 fast attack 0-1 heavy support.

Ok, well in the context of the mega battle then, ignore my second two lists and look at the first. That said, the other two lists are better than the first one IMO.

Alternativley, take the second or third list and substitue the Hellhound for another FS squad, or an AT squad, or Light Infantry for the squads so that they can all have Move Through Cover.

Sorry guys, but if it were up to me I would load the whole army in chimera and ride into battle behind a massive bombardment.

Believe me I can fill every slot on the force organization chart if there is not a point limit.

The event is part of the Cities of Death campaign and with the limit of 1 HQ, 2 troops, and 0-1 elite, fast attack and heavy support it does limit what the guard can do.

I hope to be on a team of 10 to 12 players playing against 10 to 12 players.  Using anyones math that could be 24,000 points on the table.

It should be fun.

Made the changes you suggested, have to finish my new plasma guys so I can use them on Saturday.

Ended up with 8 points and one trooper short in my HQ so you know what I put in there, yes the weapon you hate, but that squad also got a heavy bolter and the army standard instead of what I had in there.

Fixed the Hellhound last night with the stubber and added the extra Armor on the list.

Have one question for you Saturday about one comment, but I think I know the answer.

If we are luck we will have lots of support for our side.

I just read a thread in the tactics section with a great idea. Put improved comms on something, that way we get to re-roll all failed preliminay bombardment rolls. Since we get 3 stratagems, we'll take preliminary bombardment, and it already works good against a 12,000 points army, but with a re-roll, it'll give the chaos army fits.

I do not need saving... false believers of a shriveled emperor!!!! Bring on the little guardsman with their puny toys. When the battle is over I will put a wig on their leader and make him carry a purse. However, on a more serious note I am glad to see your side much better prepared and tactically sound. This time it will be much more epic(if not funny one of your side with a wig and purse!)
