You need to re-think the shading on the toushie. It's too important a feature not to do in exquisite detail!

Thanks mate much appreciated.

Now what have I been up to? Well over on Facebook Zid (check out his batreps, they're awesome, and he's even got a YouTube channel now - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLiPUI3zwSxPiHzWjFQKcNA) was talking about the Mauler Fiend, so I got on with mine and finally finished filling gaps and making claws.

And I'm pretty happy now with the Cyborg Seconds:

Took the kids to Dippy the dinosaur (diplodocus skeleton on tour) at the weekend, bought them cool socks and they had little metal clips with tread plate. So, naturally...

I'm really liking the muscle cars for Rutherford - they're the big guns team, after all.
Still no idea what to use for my prison cars style-wise.
Maybe just to give them RIDICULOUS huge engines. Aesthetically distinct, and not hard to do. I'm not sure though, because they're mostly stripped out hunks of junk. Another possibility would be to really hammer on the armour plates to just about anything with wheels. Hmmmmmmm.
Bugging me slightly. Answers on a postcard.

Weather is on the turn, supposedly. Looking up for priming I mean it's not like I'm actually lacking stuff to paint but still as always, Dreadball gets a 2-week turnaround. Ten days to go, and little one's birthday is Friday so need to crack on. Debating grey or black prime. I'm leaning towards grey, even though my first lot were black and metal. However *gulp* I don't like the paint job... so might be totally redoing them too. In my defence said at the time I wasn't happy with them.

Also, I started pimping my Sons of Batman:

Performance Car with harpoon and siren, cars with extra armour, sirens and rockets, buggy with ram.

Maybe

And yes, that's a bit of terrain, too Might swap the pop-rocket on the Keaton car for a machine gun. Not sure if the Tumbler needs more of a ram attached. I'm really not going to do much to the cars themselves - repaint black, tint the windows, add red lights, etc.

So that's me, for now,
Graven

I like the mauler fiend alot , reminds me of the guy from monsters inc.

As for prison cars, how about little mom cars , the prison doesn’t expect the guys to survive anyway as they are called coffins and the prisoners are welded inside of the cars. Then you could make little window clings for the back listing their crimes or something like Pedophile on board I hate even promoting that.

Yeah, the coffin cars. It's really tough call, I've just not got my head round it yet. I had been thinking about beaten up city-cars, that sort of thing. I'm leaning towards to just covering stuff in metal plates.

Well hello again chums.
Work is busy, cruddy, and much of a muchness. But life goes on. Long weekend, so off till weds which is nice.
Little one's birthday. There was much cake, and pizza. Nice weekend generally, played a bunch of games of transformers and got generally creamed by the boy's brutal Decepticon deck. This is what happens when you teach your kids how deck construction works
Helped him build some more Primaris too. Just trying to optimise units... There may have been some disagreement keep repeating it's his army, it's his army, it's his army NO MELTA *ahem*
Aaaaaaanyway...
Sorted another lowrider for my Pimpin' Mishkin and further modified one of my Rutherford as they're all getting windshield grates

Started on some serious big boys.

Colour blocking on Mortarion, and started the base for the rust on the Armigers.
I was didn't actually mean to start on most of the colours. I was actually working on the wings:

Which are coming along quite nicely. I'm slightly worried the sheer Technicolor vibe is too Tzeentch, but we're a long way from the end yet
And more on the plaguebearers

They're coming along. Really I was just laying down the base for verdigris.

Got some priming done too, as the weather's on the turn. Cyborg team, some Harry Potter, bit of Gaslands terrain.
Who knows what tomorrow will bring?

Mostly, on my phone.

It's been a good weekend and am feeling a bit more chilled. I have eaten a lot - we had an ACTUAL DATE NIGHT for the first time in couple of years and ate stupid amounts of Greek food - cinema, catch up with family, etc etc. Was supposed to get some Gaslands in too with chums but blowout on wife's car put a hold on that.

So, some stuff from the long weekend. Well. Sort of, not much, but a bit.

Tidied the man cave, not perfect but much better. I notice a few folk spring cleaning on their blogs also. Must be the weather!

Got an amazing mail drop from the legend that is Briancj: 3 really nice O guage buildings and a huge motor pool of 1:43 cars (really hard to get ones just right for 35mm) including a Burton batmobile and a pregnant roller skate Talking of which, saw Bumblebee (wife's request, she loves a bit of G1) and dayummmm that's a good movie. Quality, and all the feels. Everything my nerdy little heart could ask for.

The boy did some painting whilst I tidied, adding drybrush highlights to all his raven guard, blue to plasma coils and librarian, orange scorch to flamers, and colours to bases generally. Next step is all the reds, purple for seals and ivory for purity seals etc. That'll be them ready to Nuln oil. I've told him I'll buy him more raven guard icons but only once everything else is painted. Let's try to build a work ethic!

Because I am a moron I am repainting my existing "bought" cyborg team to match the new one I'm building for this Because of course I am.

So now their lights match their field position. The light blue cabling should tie them all together as an accent, and I've turned the metals grey. Scabby pics. Still, they're getting there.

The rest of the team - you know, the ones I have to paint by Friday - got primed.

Odds of them getting done slim...
One rat has a new arm, as the first one didn't work for me, so hand primed (which is why it's darker). I went with grey as I think the final version will look better that way. Next they'll be washed, 30/70 vj black ink and model air black is the plan, good flow but plenty of pigment. The black prime on the first batch was a mistake, I think.

That being said ...

Ada-Lorana. Ghost Zombie. Cos that's a thing. Still, mutant zombie is legit, so why not ghost Zombie??

Nearly there. Base needs to tidied, bit more glowy.

Wee bit further on the plaguebearers too

Plodding along. I'm flitting, I realise, very much the dilettante at the moment. But hey. I'm feeling rather more phlegmatic about work. Get in, do job, get out. It's best for all concerned, I think. So yeah back we go...

This is getting ridiculous

Meanwhile, I finally figured out a plan for my Warden prison cars:

I'm particularly happy with the buggy with the coffin in the passenger seat
Then I had a brainwave: press studs:

I've seen tiny ones used as steering wheels. Chuffed with this. Gaslands UK are doing a mod-in-a-month contest so I'm going to need to start thinking about stuff for that in March. The Dreadball contest next month is paint a giant, so only one thing to think about there.

And done some Nurgle stuff

A biologus putrifier and a poxwalker Commissar... Poxissar?!

Sloppity Bilepiper and Spoilpox Scrivener

And Plaguebearers

I'll try to get a better pic of these.

Work progresses on Mortarion. Base colours are nearly done. Then, the filth washing can begin! Then I might ready to show you something.

Speaking of filth:

First bit of Gaslands terrain. I think I'll call it... the Crap Shack

Just a very cheap bit of kid's army toy.

So, 15 more models this month, not bad. Need to dial up the quality now.

Going to have strip the Catman I picked up. Pretty grim, not salvageable, thought it was but bad, bad job. May have to stick it in the freezer to crack the glue.

Cheers bud. It is indeed!

A funny week, this one. On jury duty during one of the busiest weeks of the school year. Bit of a bugger. Ah well.
So no painting BUT geek-wise, my continued adventures in reviewing have got me in with the Beast itself: Hasbro. Getting the new D&D kids' board game, along with some prerelease Transformers TCG wave 2 (Rise of the Combiners). It's a decent game, as wallet-gougers go it's driven by a strong G1 aesthetic and fast gameplay, and the buy-in is much lower than most ccgs.

Hopefully freed from civic duty sooner rather than later! But if I'm a bit quiet, or just chatty rather than wip-ing ,that's why.

^ Yeah, he's not a well chap

Oh dear; it's come to this: My life has once again been corrupted by cardboard crack. So minimal p&m, as we've been distracted by Transformers TCG The older boy has definitely got the bug, and properly designing decks to take me down. Good times

We've also been getting stuck into Dungeon Mayhem! which is a fun little game, a frantic D&D family card game. It's designed for 8+, so we decided to test the claim: we got the younger lad (8) to read the rules and teach us all. And he did so, more than admirably.
There are 4 decks, one for each of Orc Barbarian, Devilish Rogue, Elf Paladin and Human Wizard. Each character has a card with symbols that match those on the cards, equating to draw a card, play a card, block a damage, cause a damage, or do something characterful (the wizard's fireball damages everyone, for example). It's extremely simple and remarkably funny (the orc is comedy gold), as well as cutthroat and incredibly fast: the box says 10 minutes for a game but we can do 2 in that time easily. This doesn't mean it's disposable, it's just fast, furious fun, with plenty of replay value as you try out the different characters. It's the perfect travel game, and highly recommended.

Busy weekend generally, lots going on with the kids. I have, to be fair, done a bit of model stuff too. I built a starting gate for the Gaslands from the most God-awful mdf kit I've ever encountered in my life. Still, good to get it up and running.
And Mortarion is, finally, coming together.

This is starting to feel like the way I see him in my head. Next will be washing all the cloth with violet and nightshade, and washing the smoke and coppers with camoshade. Long, long process...

Oh! One nice side note: won the custom contest over at Dreadball Fanatics with my Cyborg team. Dead chuffed

Later,
Graven.
