Very cool. The Draco looks like he means business. A suitably badass centrepiece.

Great kitbash and suitably grand for a captain. The termie honours have also caught my attention, great little detail to blend a fantasy model into the 40k universe.

Better get that service stud painted though, can't be a captain without at least one!

Oh, man, I didn't even notice the hip bolters-- there is just so much going on with that model. I bet it was a blast to paint.

On pace for another extraordinary year! Wonderful conversion and good use of positioning to convey the sense of 'barely held in check' power. Well done.

Thanks Graven! Was happy with the termie honours too, fitted exactly onto the leather band. And glad you like the hip bolters, because truth be told I believe they will only hit the captain's legs if used

Thanks Don Qui Hotep! I had actually toyed with the idea of warpaint, but the eyes turned out good on the first try so I didn't want to risk painting them anew if the warpaint failed

Very little hobbying done, but I finished the first Rohan test model with a quick and dirty mostly Contrast paintjob. Quite happy, was able to do him fast and seeing as there are 11 of his brothers it seems a good enough method:

Alas they are on hold for now, because I ordered Cygor Brown to have one more Contrast brown at hand for cloth like the trousers and differentiate them from leather or horse skin.

This is my January in review:

Love the height difference between the captain and the Rohirrim

Resprayed the Rhino and will tackle it in the near future

And so happy to have gotten this guy from eBay (paying too much). Loved mcattila's take on him and needed one too:

And he hasn't even any rules to be used with my SoB But it's such a great sculpt. May add a shotgun to his back and play him as Uriah Jacob.

Last but not least got a game in last weekend, we journeyed further along in our Crusade. Used the Open War deck and because I was too stupid to read right, we each drew an objective card and just played both.

If he didn't already, my friend now really hates the Invictor Warsuit, again the MVP. He's the most lethal unit from my roster.
But the most important mini was my Judiciar. What a beast he was in close combat.

The game was drawn (because we always held the same amount of the first objectives) so it came down to securing the second objective for 5 VP: the treasure chest. My sarge and the Judiciar were controlling it, when 7 Necron Warriors made their charge for the last action of the game. Because they are wise, they only charged the sarge. Because my friend had forgotten the rule my Judiciar made a Heroic Intervention. Now, he "only" has 5 attacks in the first round of battle, so he couldn't kill them all, right? WRONG! He has kind of a close combat sniper rifle so every wound roll of 6 equals an additional mortal wound. I hit with four of the five attacks and then rolled four (!) sixes to wound. And the three remaining warriors failed their save, so that was it.
Really fun (at least for me) and again a game that was not decided until the very last moment.

Here are some impressions:

They weren't running along those planks, because they are heroes. They didn't do it, because it was their duty. They did it because the moron playing with them is stupid

They got shot to pieces except the sarge who charged the Necron Warriors in round 3 and killed three. He subsequently died and the remaining seven were the ones dying at the end of the game.

The treasure chest saw a lot of fighting, exploding scarabs are no fun

I hate the Wraiths, they always get stuff killed and now leveled up to re-roll all hit rolls of 1

"Hey sarge, are you seeing anything?" "Not a clunker in sight."

Sarge left the fight after his brothers got killed and actually survived the game, because the Wraiths went to the treasure chest.

Rematch is planned for the weekend, but the older Snotling is a little sick so may to postpone it.

And totally forgot, started painting the Bladeguard and will tackle the Cpt. and Lt. afterwards. Love the push fit models, so easy to get everywhere with the brush Eowyn will quite probably be my entry for the painting challenge this month, although the rest also qualifies.

Man...that "bike" conversion is a great piece of converting and painting...love it! Inspired stuff.

The battle report looks fun, I love the Assault marines doing the Hokey Cokey along the Warcry planks is hilarious.

The Rider of Rohan looks great for a quick job, and it suits their smaller scale and the pure number of them you have to paint.

Great update Viterbii

The Captain conversion is sick. Reminds of He-Man riding Battle Cat into the fray. Really cool work.

Way to hang on to that treasure chest! Four sixes surely portends that the will of the God-Emperor remains with you.

You’re allowed to meet up with other people in Germany? Very jealous! Looks like the battle was a riot and having it decided on the final turn is a great way to keep the fun going.

The Rohan rider looks like he brought a spear to an armoured Super Human gun and magical beast fight! Hopefully they don’t decide he’s a heretic...

You are allowed to meet one person from another household in public spaces and most people (like us) adopt it for "at home" too (where in theory you could meet more). Apart from my parents and father-in-law he is the first person I met since Christmas. Kind of crazy when you think about it. Hopefully vaccine production will ramp up soon, so meetings can finally get larger again.

Thanks Tyranid Horde! Hopefully, gaming can commence come summer, always look for the silver lining BTW, ordered the Drakespawn Knights, but from my usual online retailer, so they are not in stock atm, but should arrive in the not to distant future.

It was and we are already planning the next one.

Speaking of the next game, I will kick the Eliminators from my force. It was all well and fun how they shot the Hexmark Destroyer off the board game 1, turn 1. But after that they mostly look cool and get dragged into melee. So I will exchange them for some Bladeguard and am well underway to finish them this weekend.

Thanks for sharing the battle report, people in the tactics threads have been recommending wraiths and it's cool to see why - might be a good purchase next payday.

Sorry to hear about the Eliminators, was your opponent not running a character-heavy list? I got the sense that they were good for the assassination secondary.
