is it just me or do the Scorpions look a bit hunch-backed? Don't think I much care for the tassles on the top of their helmets either.

I do like the Fire Dragons lots, though.

Apparently to be an Exarch you must be standing on something!

I dig em all. There's still something to the old Rogue Trader minis though. I wonder how they will look next to each other, and if there is much of a scale difference.

I don't know if I like the Aspect Reaper helmet, it's so different from the Reaper Exarchs Helmet, where none of the other Exarch helmets are all that different from the Warriors that they are leading - just more ornate.

Drake, you just have your finger on GW's pulse, don't you? Every time something new picture-wise is posted - bang, It's you that's posting it.

The reapers are fugly, IMO.

Much prefer the current sculpts, especially the exarch.

That Reaper in the upper left corner is about to totally rock out. Other than the exarch though... they don't do it for me. Neither do the very static striking scorpions. I like the current ones which are much more dynamic.

Not a big fan of the Scorpions. 2nd Ed models own these.

I like the dire dragons. The reapers are ok.

Scorps are... interesting. The original Scorps are still awesome models, and I'd rather have them. The Exarch is very unassuming. Maybe it's just the angle. The one with the power claw looks slightly more impressive.

The Fire Dragons look like Fire Dragons. I know that sounds obvious, but the only difference between these guys and the previous three different versionf of the FD models is these ones have bigger hats. Nice models though. Love the Exarch.

And the Reapers are great. I never liked the 3rd Ed ones. These go back to what made the Reapers nice in 2nd Ed. Exarch's nice too.

Yes. They do look like they have hunchbacks, much like terminators and XV25 stealth suits. (Gotta "love" anatomically-strenous model poses...) I'm guessing that with the tassels they're supposed to be Predator clones.

The Dark Reapers reminded me how much I hated thick loincloth modelling. Look at the one in the left. There's a huge chuck of metal there. Somehow they can make it thin with the firedragons and the DR on the right but the one on the left still suffers from having a thick block of lead on his groin? Eh.

Well let's look at the Reaper options:

I think the new reapers are a great combination of the old and the new, but I'm still a bigger fan of the Fitzpatrick versions.

Standing outside Jester's house demanding the things he took from my underwear drawer.

Scorpions have potential.

Fire Dragons look good. Not great enough to buy just to paint for fun (although at 5.00 per fig for most metals, I rarely do this anymore), but just good.

I don't care for the Reapers too much. I don't like the big foreheads. Aren't they supposed to be 3+ armor. They don't look as hearty as the older Reapers. The two older style Reapers never had ankles which makes that look very sturdy. I don't feel like these new ones look that stout.

I've seen the Reaper Exarch with both weapon options and both look like things you can buy in sex shops. A weapon should not look like this, not even a Emperor's Children weapon. -Symbio Joe

I'm not digging the new Reapers either. Maugen Ra and the 3rd ed figs are excellent and really weren't in need of a change. The Fire Dragons look fine and fire dragon-y, though the Exarch's ridiculously huge fire pike will need fixing to look like it can actually be aimed and fired with any degree of accuracy (ie: shortening the barrel and adding an assault grip). Finally, the scorpions. While it looks like they were photographed at a terrible angle and that paint scheme is complete pants, they're definitely an improvement over the v3 figs.

I like those fire dragons well enough but the others are... less inspiring? I'll wait to see some with different paint, or just some more pics, before I decide one way or another.

I have nothing useful to add.

I have yet to be disappointed with the new figs, and this batch is no exception.

Scorpions - Sure the pose is off, but I have no problem with it, at least they aren't the 3rd Edition poses. I like them because they look like they are actually wearing 3+ save armor. (And I am a Predator fan)

Fire Dragons - I still own a squad of the current figures (which I love) but I will still probably pick up a squad of these. They look more "defined" than the old figs. The Firepike seems fine to me, we really don't know the weight of these weapons or how they are held, all our reference comes from "human" tendancies, to an Eldar so of the wierd ways things are held could be natural to them. Just as long as it doen't seem imposible.

Reapers - I remember when I first got the Eldar codex (current) and thinking how I prefered the Reapers in there to the ones availible, these new ones combine all that was great about both styles, so I love them.

WHY NO NEW SPIDERS??

I like the new scorps, a clear improvement over the fugly 3rd ed ones. Tha Dragons are fine too. The plastic Dire Avengers are *fudge*ing awesome.

The reapers however, are only "ok" and the previous ones were great, they should've redone the spiders instead.

Thanks for the update Drake_Marcus!

I really like all the new Eldar sculpts they are doing, very invigorating for the new dex.  I'll slowly buy up and add them into my existing force I think.

While I like all of these, I have never understood why Eldar armor is so different and yet sculpted all the same, there really is no difference in appearance between models with a 3+ save and those with a 5+ is there? Gaurdian Armor and reaper armor have very few differences, mostly in boots and shoulder pads...  I think they could have used this iteration of the sculpts to correct that. Once upon a time there actually was Eldar Mesh and Power Armor, and there were Gaurdians sculpted with each, they looked very different, and organic, and quite nice! Who remembers the chain, or weby wear look Eldar used to have?

Ultimately IMO the new models are great, the old models are great, but why not make a difference between 3+ 4+ and 5+ saves be visible, a tough sell Wysiwyg when they have the same bodysuits with aplique flexbone armor plate and one model is the equivalent of sealed power armor, and an almost identical suit, is the equivalent of a flack vest and helmet?

Arghl...the brightness! My eyes!

The darker, more sinister painting styles were far better, imo.

Anyway, i like all the new 4th edition models except my beloved Dark Reapers. What was wrong with the old ones?
Ok, no problem with updating them but what is this? Do they want to headbutt the enemy with their AP3 heads? And what's up with the one in the upperleft corner?
He seems to be giving an "ohhh-yeah" (Duffman) speech... hey dude, guess what you are on the field to blow the other guys away, not to pose damnit!

For me at least i will stock up my small threesome of Dark Reapers with 3rd edition ones. Maybe get the exarch.

Well I lik all the new Eldar too.
Although the Fire Dragons paintjob does seem very bright and simple.

I'm not sure about the new Banshees. To me they seem too robust where the last incanation were more lithe and acrobatic like I think they should look

It would appear that GW has gotten rid of the reapers having rather large lower legs/feet. I thought they were supposed to have very heavy legs/feet with special technology to keep them steady on the ground.

Thank you. We needed new Warp Spiders and at LEAST new pilots for jetbikes before GW should
contemplate redoing the dragons (which didn't need an update) reapers (likewise), banshees and scorps.

Yeah...the Jetbike pilots aren't that big of a pronlem due to the easier convertable plastic kit, but warp spiders?
I mean, have you played dawn of war? How cool were those guys? They deserved new models just for coolness reasons.

Apparently the problem with the 3rd ed aspect warriors was that they didn't fit in Jes' vision of the eldar- he was determined to redo all of the models that were sculpted by someone other then him. It seems pretty silly (since the banshees and reapers were unarguably great models because Fitzpatrick did them, although I completely understand the want to get rid of the absolutely horrid scorpions) but I can understand his motivation- he's got an extremely specific vision of the eldar race and it's all down on paper in the form of his various sketch books. There's no way they would've done different pilots for the various kits without just redoing the plastic sprues (GW seems hesitant to simply add metal replacements in a plastic kit unless it's absolutely necessary). I really wish they had recut the plastic sprues to include better pilots but I'd rather have the sweet plastic kits they've done now instead.

One thing that would be nice is if they did new arms for the Warp Spider exarch so he can be armed with the two other weapon options. This still might happen simply because GW seems determined to include both possible weapon upgrade options in each exarch's kit. Unfortunately, we haven't seen the new exarch models armed with the squad standard weapons in any pics so far, but it shouldn't be too hard to do for most due to the availibilty of these weapons in the Autarch kits.

Mhm...imo Jes "Hardballs" goodwin is a very (x2) good sculpter, BUT sometimes it would be more wise to use his skills for the greater good.
Sure, new models are always nice and all, but some needed new models more badly than the ones being redone, as Drake_Marcus already said.

Dark Reapers? Ace models, thinking about using the old (i want to start an eldar army)
Fire Dragons? Again, where was the need. Only margial changes even to the 2nd edition ones.
Banshees? I dig the new models and like them 100% more than the currewnt but still...

Warp Spiders on the other hand? 2nd edition models with only one variant pose? That shouldn't be in the 4th edition.

Agreed Schepp! I think I'd be much more likely to start an Eldar army if the wraithguard, warp spiders and vehicle crews were more up-to-date. Don't get me wrong- the warp spiders look great, but I hate having a unit with little or no variety.
