I know this has been discussed, but I was holding out until I had at least played some of the scenarios.

Today was basically a warmup for the guys going to the Dragoncon SR at the end of the month.

I played Cryx in the pendelum battle against Menoth.

Lists were straight forward, 750 points.

Mine was Goreshade, DJ, 9 BKs, 6 Bane thralls, 2 pistol wraiths, tartarus, 2 deathrippers, skarlock, 9 bile thralls and max mechthralls.

The menoth list was eKreoss, avatar, 2 repenters, 2 min exemplar knights, 2 seneschals, max zealots with monolith bearer, piper.

Rolled off, he chose to deploy and go second. Bascially, that won the game for me. AD the deathjack, move across to his side first turn, ran the rest of my army. After that, he never could clear out my troops from his side. He collapsed one of my flanks, but my other flank collapsed his.

Going first in this scenario is TOO much of an advantage. Especially when combined with advanced deployment. So, kinda disappointing in the end.

eKreoss with repenters and no exemplar errants in Pendulum? That does not
sound right. He absoloutely needs that advance deploy and gains bonuses from
elite cadre to boot. That sounds silly.

Remember you can't score in the first turn of the scenario. All he has to do is run a single model over the line.

But yeah, if he had eKreoss and no Exemplars Errant... who knows what he was thinking. It's no secret that AD is near mandatory in SR2.1

You start 14" away from the line. I don't know of any menoth unit that can run 15".

AD some exemplars errant. gakky that you have to use 'em for that, but it is what it is.

Does Menoth have any push attacks? I know with Cygnar we can just use the GMCA or ATGMs to fire some push shots at a warjack before it activates if we really need those extra few inches. Hell I'm pretty sure push is itself a power attack. Again sucks that you have to resort to it though. :\

Slam is a power attack. And its fairly effective for knocking models off of control points. And it would work great for pendelum as you could knock a model in your half of table back across the center line.

Venters will give menoth another unit that can cross the center line in the first turn. Kind of expensive though. Along with some AD errants.

I also didn't score my point in the first turn. I scored it in the second turn. The menoth player only had one turn to get something across the center line, which he didn't have anything that could.

I was just brushing up on Menoth Superiority stuff - it looks like the Daughters of Menoth will become required in SR lists. AD + Stealth = easy objective snatching in the first turn.

oh Daughters of Menoth = Daughters of the Flame. Take them with eFeora and they're Elite Cadre; they get +2" movement on the first turn and are fearless.

Yes, Menoth is getting some very tasty additions.

Of course, all the factions are getting them. If they do Evolution up like they are saying and the additions are as good as the ones in Superiority, Evolution will be a monster.

Hehe, Evolution will be a monster.   Very punny.

It does look to be a big book.
