Howdy Dakka fans,

We've just upgraded quite a few of our systems.  Much of this is behind the scenes stuff (stability, performance, etc) that you won't really notice.  But there are a few things you may notice:

  • Better login remembering.  This should be pretty much fixed now, after today at noon EST.  You may need to clear your cookies one last time, but try just logging out and loggin in first.
  • Editing posts:  This long time problem is resolved.  Editing posts with images and/or links should now work as expected.  Quotes are still a little wierd, but minor.
  • New FAQ: We've got a new, easy to find FAQ right on the forums menu.  This covers MANY of the common questions.  Click here to check it out.
  • New Editor: The new forum editor is fast, friendly to just about every browser on the planet, and gives us new abilities, check the FAQ above.  My favorite new features are a toss up between the Spell Checker and the undo button.
  • Emorkon's are back!   That's right, Grim Teef's famous icons  have returned. (,,, etc.) Check the FAQ above for how to access them.

Happy posting, and let me know if you have any problems/issues,

Russ Wakelin

How's that, considering we didn't get the 'emorkons' until after we left ezboard.

For some reason the News and Who's Online tabs are eating up 75% of my screen, horizontally. The posts are all condensed on the right hand side of the page real tiny like...

Is anyone else experiencing this?  Things look fine to me.  What browser are you using?

Not to moan but using Mac OS X Safari browser I get a critical error whenever I try to edit a post or send or reply to a personal message.

PMs work in MS Explorer v6 though. Haven't tried editing.

Later on I'll have a go with Firefox.

Hurray for changes!

(Psst: Opera still doesn't work - clicking on a particular forum from the main page logs me out immediately and returns to the main forum page.)

Looks better, haven't tried posting pics and quoting yet though.

The biggest problem is that I can't find where the hell you get to the forums from the main site homepage. I log in, fine, and then there is no link to the forums. I had to click on one of the hot topic things on the right hand side to get to the forums.

MAybe I am just slowed and couldn't find it.

You should see a menu in a grey bar at the top of the page (both Home and this one.)

So far, things look pretty much the same to me...

BTW, is 'remember login' going to improve? I still can't get it to remember me for more than a few hours at a time...

I'm also discovering the "remember login" is back to being worse than before now, requiring me to log in every couple hours or so.

Edit: Make that not even 2 hours (barely one!).

This was a configuration issue on the new system.  It's all set now.  Logins should stay persistent longer.  Let me know if you still experience logouts.

Just letting you know that when I go into the Profile menu to correct my time zone, I don't see a Save Changes or Submit button, and when I refresh the page, it doesn't remember the changes, so I'm guessing that there's supposed to be a button....

That did it. Thanks. I did get a few error messages while pages were loading, but they didn't hinder the process. Here's the message, though, just in case:

Russ,

I'm also getting the critical error message. I can't use the Add Reply, New Topic, Edit or Quote functions because of it.

I use Opera (v9.01, not the latest I think) and have cleared the cache, with no effect.

I had the same problems before the upgrade and hoped that it would fix the issue, but unfortunately not

Cheers.

Opera has had a couple bad versions lately. If you really can't stand IE, I'd recommend either Firefox, or trying a newer Opera release. Although I think 9.01 is the latest.

To be honest, I can't stand Firefox either I miss my mouse gestures too much...

Anyway, I'll see if there are any other possible solutions on my end.
