Thanks wyomingfox. The banner pennant is actually just seraphim sepia over wraithbone primer, nothing else!

So those were the anvil, here's the hammer!

Rapid progress Gwyn, and they look pretty decent. Once you hit the targets you can always go back with some washes and highlights too

Wow, you are really cranking them out and they look great! Are you highlighting the gold armor or is that just the light reflecting off of the model?

Ah the rush to table. Nothing quite as motivating as that to get models done.

Very nicely done; the results belie the speed with which they were created: first-rate work!

Battle pics from the first two rounds of the tournaments!

The way this escalation league is set up is there are two rounds at each point level. At the 750 point level, each round is two games against the same opponent. So I did two games against the Nighthaunt to start, which consisted of both of us forgetting half our faction rules, and for some reason we played it on a 40k or kill-team map. The first game was basically a perfect Stormcast game; first, my turn 1 Annihilator charge out of deepstrike took out her entire Dreadscythe Harridan unit just from mortals.

Meanwhile my Vindictors got on each obejctive, and I barely lost any units after that.

The second game I didn't take photos of, but it was almost a perfect Nighthaunt game. Remembering that she could place units into deep strike, those Dreadscythe Harridans got a charge out of deepstrike, and almost entirely decimated my army when I was still in my own deployment zone. Technically I won the round because my score total across the two games was more than hers, but it was low compared to others who won the round, so solid middle-of-the-pack in the rankings after round 1.

Round 2 was against Slaves to Darkness (5 players are Slaves, 3 are Skaven, and another 3 are other Chaos factions..., so expect a LOT of Chaos opponents). I lost both games, but still scored fairly high in my second game. The first game my Annihilators failed their 7" charge even with rerolling charges, and that's just game right there. Plus, 9 wounds with a 2+ armour save REALLY doesn't last long against a unit of Chosen...

Second game was a lot better - Annihilators did decent damage to the Chosen before being, well, annihilated, and I played very conservatively, by not charging when I didn't need to to control a point. So I did well on points (partially because my opponent threw his Sorcerer forward, which was a fairly easy kill, but not well enough once a key Rally brought back a couple of Chosen and the Chosen once against ripped through my lines.

You can see my conservative play here: I just sat back to control point #2, which counted as two objectives, and I fell back/retreated from point 1 where the Chaos Warriors were to capture the point behind the tomb, because I didn't need to control Point 1 to get full points that turn, and I didn't want to risk losing models at that point.

I'm currently sitting at 14/24 going into the 3rd round at 1250 points, so wish me luck! Round 3 is against a Marauder Horsemen Cabalist list, so I'm intrigued. It does have another scary unit of Chosen. But first, gotta get up to 1250 points painted!

The Stormcasts look great on the battlefield Gwyn! Sounds like you need to invest in something to deselect the chosen

Thanks all! Yeah those Chosen were a real issue, but I have a plan at higher points levels.

In the meantime, I really quickly got some magic eyes - maybe this time I'll stop forgetting all their innate magic abilities (like the first 2 games where I completely forget that they do mortal wounds on death!)

Ok let's get up to that 1250 points!

First, we need someone who can deal with Chosen and similar, at range. I know!

Yeah, he'll do!

These are great! The detail painting is precise and the colors work together wonderfully well. The bow is tall enough to double as a foot bow- twice the range!
