No Punisher in Midnight Sons? Pity. I really like Magik's sculpt. Her sword being the connection to the Tactical Swirl(tm) really makes it dodge the uncanny 'floatiness' I dislike with a lot of Dynamic Poses(tm). I like that Gambit actually has a foot on solid ground. Rest look good, but don't really blow me away - I've never been much of an X-Men-stan though.

The only thing I would chnage about Magiks sculpt is the Animea stupidly giant sword - yeah its magic - but the one in the film is much better (IMO)

There are some other things going one
There will be a rerelease of older character cards, with fixes to bring them up to date bt the end of the year.
First will be a printable document, then a new card pack, aimed at newer players with cards rereleased
Reprints will get the new cards.
Going forward, less unaffiliated cards and more cards based on characters/ teams
Some changes to list building too.

Gems no longer take up a character slot in your roster, but you need to specify which gems a character has on your roster. So no more moving gems around inbetween games.
Can take multiple characters with the same alter-ego in a roster (but still limited to one of each when building your team for a game).
Team Tactics cards increase from 8 to 10 on rosters.

The big change is random crisis selection which has some heckles raised in the competitive crowd, but is one of the things I've been hoping to see changed for a while. The current "draw 2 of 3, pick 1" makes it very easy to design to a specific crisis and just kind of "chess opening" with the exact same squad of characters over and over. The new rules demand using the roster as more of a side board to adapt to the crisis you pull while still giving you a good amount of say in what it could be.

I think the change is good for the new/average player. One less decision point to have to try to develop a skill around.

"Skill" is a stretch. So is decision point to be honest. Most rosters have a primary card and a secondary card in both secure and extract, a mostly set squad for both, and a fairly strict opener. The third cards don't even matter besides MAYBE trying to screw over a specific affiliation. It's more memorization than decision making and requires very little in the way of adlibbing.

They're going to do a Young Avengers/Champions team soon. Kamala comes with a team up card with Miles that I'm sure is part of a set of releases for characters like this. It's also a pretty solid way to link that team with X-Force.

Champions is gonna be dope. Hope that means Nova is on the way.
I do hope they separate YA and Champions. They're two very different groups with different goals and such. Plus I don't want to see either group get downplayed because of the lack of association with the other.

Waid's 2016 team (which I didn't even realize he was the one who started that team, which makes it even cooler) since that meshes with the character selection coming out for them.
Yer entitled to your opinion, of course.

Yeah, friggin lame choice. I get wanting new characters, but Honey Badger? A clone of a clone? Waluigi without the ironic lameness. Quinten Quire if they wanted a mutant, or literally anyone else if they wanted a Young Avenger.

I hope they separate them out too, but since Disney seems on the cusp of doing something major with them and has a lot of variations on the the premise, I can see it going either way.

I am, but the truth is it sucked and it still sucks after Jim Zubb (whom barely could right the the sinking ship this book was before after Waid left it) left.
Besides I'd rather have the original Champions.

The '75 ones? Well, to each their own I guess. The only problem I had with the 2016 Champions is that they embroiled them in every single meta event, which made the regular series collapse, and that they ended up changing them into "Avengers lite" instead of trying to do something different with them.
But OTOH, couldn't you make the Champions with the Avengers and the X-Men? At least if they keep releasing stuff...

More surprised they haven't done anything for WCA. Most of the roster is already present for at least a small subfaction to be made.

Marvel hasn't really pushed that branding in quite a while. Mechanically speaking, I don't think it makes any more sense than an alternate leader for the Avengers, similar to how Storm and Cyclops are both X-Men leaders.
