Great stuff Q0rbin.

The combat squad of marines look great. (I prefer the grey and yellow too btw but understand the time scale). It will also make for an interesting army having two allied renegade forces.

Forge Fiend looks good.

Yeah I know but I got tired to paint like that when it took so long time with every model.

Nice autocannon build. I usually find the scratch built ones to be a little goofy, but yours really works.

Agreed with you Moltar, that one really looks "realistic" (if one can say so)...

Yeah I know Ygg, they are a little stiff those zerkslegs, but why not use them so it can be some variation in the army.
And I also finished another model, of course I used your OSL-technique Ygg. A guy with a plasmagun. Damn it take time to get the OSL ok.

Thanks Ygg, it's so friggin hard to do OSL, The time, the perfect amount of water and paint. But your tut have really helped me.
Thanks but I think your technique is pretty darn good to.
The only way I can describe my technique is That I use very much water and very little paint. And have my patience on the highest.

So to finish this post I can now say that I have finished the first squad to the legion Abyssal silhouettes, exept the legion-marks on the shoulderpads. I have tried some OSL and some other bling bling on the champions axe.

Thanks Ygg, yes that was what I tried to do, I thought it would be a little dull with some of the other lightningeffect colours that I used.
And I also finished a new marine today, a predator in the abyssal silhouettes colourscheme. But I'm not 100%pleased with the lighteffect on the body.

Wow ! I love the lightning effect pretty much...

I think that if it looks weird, it is because of where you put the boundary : right in the middle of the model, as if cut in to (or as if he just waded in waist-deep mud)...

I think it would look better if a bit more "random", or "angled" on the model - as in this one, for instance :

Spoiler:

And the Predator locks are awesome as well... Did you just GS them ?

This is some really inspiring stuff, mate! I have to admit that I wasn't completely sold on your new painting recipe at first, since those CSM seemed like a poor replacement for your earlier models. You've really found your feet with the nee recipe, though, and I love the autocannon marine, champ and Pred-Marine. Brilliiant work!

Yggdrasil is perfectly right, though: Repaint one of the legs to look more "uncloaked" and the effect will be even more convincing!

Looking forward to your next update!

Thanks Kraut, nice to hear that I am convincing with the new scheme. Yeah, I tried to do a little less in a straight line but its hard to to see that at the moment.

You know what would really rock? One of your Pred-Marines leaning against a wall, where the division between the cloaked and uncloaked parts of the mini wouldn't be vertical, but rather horizontal. That is, the part towards the wall would be cloakes, and the one facing away from it uncloaked, with the transition effect running roughly around the middle of the mini. Just sayin'...

At first when I made them in the previous edition they where meant to be chosens, but now I just going to use them as regular marines because I want to get some variation.

Yeah I have thought of that but I scramble the idea, sorry. But instead I made this runner, who is cloaking out from the terrain.

Hey, in France it's Armies on Parade on September, 14th... Do you plan on taking the Abyssal Silhouettes to such a competition ?

Also... I don't recall you showing us the cultists... Could we have some close-up pics ?

And of course, here's the fourth predator, the one with the plasma weapon. The sad or hard thing is, that I don't know if the osl from the weapon should glow over the cloaking-glow.

It could probably be argued either way, but since the plasma gun is not cloaked, it probably should bounce off his cloaked leg, like you have it. I suppose it would come down to a matter of how light is reflected/refracted through the cloaking system. If you were to change it, you'd have to leave the glow on the portion of exposed armor above the cloaking line and have the glow just cut off. It all comes down to your preference. I'm not sure how the half-glow would look. I think I prefer the way that it is now.
