sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Sounds like a screw, not a wrench...
So on with the challenge: das sex-bot
I'm going to try to get a silhoutte laser-cut from acrylic also to mount (shaddup).
If nothing else, I have completed the challenge, to finish something part-painted. But that doesn't mean I won't do some other stuff too
Speaking of which, the Caprica 6s
11 more of them. And a dreadball
I have started the remaining coaches too. So might actually get them done.
I also tweaked a blight hauler, to give it a more dynamic pose
I think I'll call him Mr Chompy...
We're at 375. Target one passed! Can I pass 400?
Hey ho, on we go,

Caprica sixes huh? Based off of Battlestar Galactica?
Are the different base trim colors for different positions? Never played, so just curious.

Yeah, to my mind they look like Cylons. It amused me
Traffic lighting is a pretty standard way of signalling the different positions in game, yes. Green for Strikers, Orange for Jacks, Red for Guards. It's not mandatory but helps folk. And the front 3 of the base are the threat zone, so have to be marked in some way.
And thanks for the vote of confidence!

To mount, you say?
How are you planning to... mount it?
Going to make a hard little rod that can go into a hole? Or are you just going to slather some jelled... glue, onto it?
Or maybe something with a slot?

^ there was a classic British TV show, Steptoe and Son, and the son's catchphrase was, "You... dirty old man."
Thanks for that, Anvildude I shall now always think of you with that line
Various levels of progress on the coaches:
Blaine (the predator-like chap) is the least far along. I'm not sure how I feel about the reddish skin tone I've gone with for the Warden (alien prison warden/fight promoter) - I was planning on going human but I like a dash of alien in the mix. The tiny cyber human needs some shiny metals (and a name!), whilst the Broker (with pet dragon) is probably the furthest along. Mr X is just blocked in. But it's more progress than I've made in months on them
Also, talking of progress, some paint and some (limited) salt weathering:
It's worked in some places, not in others. I think I need to use coarser salt.
Anyway, mdf eats paint, so more layers are not a bad thing.
On we go,
Graven

Sooooooo I just read the challenge rules again. Despite being absolutely convinced that I had a fortnight, turns out I had till Friday.
So, this happened
And individually:
Blaine, MVP, coach, mascot, and beast of Mantica:
Dr X
The Broker
The Governor
Napoleon, my personal favourite
5 more (I'm not counting the extra Dreadball I painted). 380. 25 days to do 20 models, but more like 20 days when you take out Xmas and new year.
Yikes.
Wish me luck, here goes...

The plan is to do for to beat the target. Of course I'll have to do 21 so it's a multiple of 7
I have the advantage of having started some, so that seems logical

Papa has a twisted sense of humour, as we know.
Well, having planted the seed - or should that be the spore? - of finishing the I'd started previously, I got them out... And hit a snag.
What's wrong with these? I'll tell you mono-pose models. I picked them up built, so didn't twig before I started painting. But I cannot have two models the same.
CANNOT
So ...
It's chopping time.
Yes, this means more painting in the grand scheme of things, as some bits are bare plastic, and obviously there's a fair squodging of GS into gaps here and there. But still, all the better to serve Papa I now have a nice mix of poses, plus got round to making a Plague Belcher (flipped the nozzle, just think it looks better, I was cutting stuff anyway ), a plasma pistol champion (for KT mostly), and a lot more CC guys, which frankly I needed anyway (again, for KT if nothing else). Always need more axes (sometimes, you can only afford one axe, after all) and found myself short of a Bubonic Axe/Mace of Corruption dude last time I played. I have a couple of unprimed built mono-pose guys also, who might get a melta and flail, if I have time.
Mr Chompy and the other Foul Blightspawn are also primed (although Chompy needs something to chomp on), which means 15 , 3 Blight Haulers, 1 Foul Blightspawn, 1 Chaos sorcerer (and a partridge in a pear tree). Totally doable, right

Aww, sweet little Chompykins.....who's a good hauler then?
I quite like the red skin on the coach, reminiscent of the Red Skull.
Nice work on all the latest marines....although I'm struggling to make out the head of the plasma guy, so looking forward to next batch of shots just so I know what's going on there. (Should maybe point out I've just returned from a friend's 50th, and am possibly under the influence of gin and champagne)

Hopefully plasma guy with horns is a bit clearer below. The trouble with all this chopping is you get even more ideas - like, now, I've got a left over blightbringer body with most of the accessories cut off - and I reckon, with a powerfist and plasma gun, will make an excellent champion
Here's where we are so far:
Seem to be coming together.
Might need greater differentiation in the paintjobs.
I am no longer worried about not having enough axes.
Or support weapons.
If I do ever pick up another set of plague marines on sprue, I might properly explore this 30k version of the scheme.
So, there's the first set of drybrushed layers done.
Next, remaining colours (pinks, turquoise) and rust base, then first wash (1 agrax/1 sepia/2 water). Then agrax again on all the metal and powder time at that point, they should start to resemble their friends
Planning Xmas meet up with friends, and looks like Dreadball ultimate is on the cards (high speed 6 player version of the game). Also, the Raven guard continue.
Expect pictures!
Later

Maybe with the little blight crawlers instead of doing different painting you could add stuff to the add to break them up a bit. Some form rubble, running over a marine, just something to cock one on an angle would help.

Well I sorta took your advice: omnomnomnom more detritus will likely be added to the others. The bases are more likely to get generally cracking, mud etc, like the rest of the army, rather than rubble per se, but the blighthaulers do feel like a canvas for dead marines. So, this is the advantage of small person deciding she was awake at half 4 and wanting to watch Hey Duggee: Rust layer 1 done. Also, I think the glasses orkmoticon my be my spirit animal. That or I like this point in these guys. I feel like I've turned a corner. Now there's turquoise to do - that shouldn't take too long - and adding/redoing tentacular pinks and purples. I've realised that after that I have to get the earth paint on the bases, before the washing starts in earnest. In other words, the mucky jobs are for later this week. I'm also going to try to avoid buying this week's Conquest issue with yet another DG character. Cos that'll happen

Perfect set of legs for that blight hauler .
I hadn’t noticed the leftmost ones visor. Looks like a perfect cylon eye from old battlestar galactica .
You could always have a “snack sack” of marine parts thrown over one of their tread arms for later treats. A way of the death guard keeping these little mutts happy.

Indeed! I had considered having the various parts of that one model scattered across the 3 of them, as if he'd been ripped apart like a chew toy?

And henceforth, he shall be the Centurion
Of course, now the 3rd one needs a name, or at least a nickname: in theory, the 3 of them are named after the Furies, continuing my Greek Theatre motif - Alekto ("endless rage"), Megaera ("jealous rage"), and Tisiphone ("vengeful destruction"). Rustbucket, maybe
The turquoise for the various different levels of verdigris has now been added, as have all the pinks and purples. No pic though because whilst it's a substantial amount done, it's not really noticeable if you know what I mean? Slightly putting off the inevitable messy and time-consuming job of the bases, but justifying it to myself with a reminder that I need to decide on base litter... honest Anyway, I have to get the base colour for all the bone extremities etc on, the next layer of metals pre-weathering and then touch up the other colours here and there. Sorry, just keeping myself right. I do not like batch painting and it's even harder when you have to be varied yet consistent, as decrees.
For example
It would get a bloody stump also, naturally, and lose the phial, because gravity.
