Thanks everyone for the kind words. Definitely keeps me motivated to keep adding to this army. I'm thinking a full army shot on my painted RoBB soon.

If I had to describe your work in one word (and it would be hard to narrow it down to one) it would have to be 'inspirational' because every time I see one of your finished models it fills me with a burning desire to paint one myself!

Thanks Luther! Coming from a fellow BA painter who pushes out fantastic paintings it's humbling to read. Keep up your great work and look forward to seeing more of your finished models.

This has been a model that's been in progress for a looong time and I finally took the time to finish it off this week and take some pictures. Actually it's about 95% complete since the tabberd is still not painted but will leave that off for now.

Like most of my other knights, it's been magnetized for easy storage and transport.

Nice work. Really like the way you've magnetised it for transport/storage.

Mostly, on my phone.

As always it's the tiny details, such as the screens, that take your work to the next level. Quite extraordinary.

Thanks! I post shade all my reds. I find it gives you much more control over the shading since you can always do touchups and tints afterwards.

That's just beautiful work Egg. I just love the dark to light work you do with the airbrush and have tried to imitate it multiple times... just haven't been able to sort it out properly. You're one-of-a-kind I guess.

Thanks Gits! Actually my old paints that I used for the reds I did a few years ago all dried up and GW doesn't make the blood red paint anymore. I'm using a combination of P3 and Vaelljo air which works and is close enough - I do most of the painting by "feel" now since I don't bother looking for the exact mixture for colours. I think the key is to find what works for you and stick with it - your own paint style and colours are great already so just work on perfecting that and you'll be golden.

BTW I've been telling my gf I'm "one-of-a-kind" for ages - good to finally get validation!

Update time!

Been busy painting these last few weeks and have 5 new additions to add to the army: 4 HQs and 1 Stormraven Gunship

All these models were built and primed years ago. Slowly making my way through all the models to paint. The Stormraven was very fun to paint and will be looking to paint more flyers soon. The model like all my other large models is heavily magnetized for easy storage and transport. Anyway...onto the pics:

Haha yes I guess it does look like a crash site

To be honest, the Sanguinor was a chore to paint. I had him built and primed long time ago and did it this time not from inspiration but because I figured it was about time I finished him. Didn't spend as much time on him as I would on a showpiece HQ model but merely painted him so he's "good enough".

Another flyer completed. This time it's a dark angel's nephilim jet fighter with all the DA bits scrapped off. Done in the same method as the Stormraven earlier and with magnetized weapon options. Also dispersed amongst the rubble in the base are broken up fimo bits made from greenstuff world's greek rollers which turned out surprisingly well. Slowly working through my backlog of flyers...

I like most of it, Egg, but what's with the quite stark orange on the leading edges of the wings? It stands out quite a bit, and doesn't look to be present on the Stormraven that crashed earlier.

I love the cockpit. What did you do to get the blue glow?

The orange is actually suppose to be bronze. Might be just the photo lighting but that's part of the wing 'trim'. Originally I had that part painted boltgun metal and the wing pattern black but decided to change it up last minute to give it more "pop". Guess you'll never let me forget about the crashed SR huh?

Solar_lion wrote:I love the cockpit. What did you do to get the blue glow?

Thanks SL. The canopy I just dip into a mix of marine blue ink and future floor varnish. I then dip the whole canopy into the mixture and then hang it to dry. I do this process about 4-5 times to get the proper blue tint before applying a final coat of clear varnish on top to seal it all in.

Beautiful. I love the kill markings on the side of the SR.

The DA flier looks so much better in BA heraldry!

Mostly, on my phone.

It's stunningly good, especially the engines, but I have a niggle - it's really obvious that the BA icon on the tail is a transfer. I know I'm nitpicking but it's rare to see a distraction on your lovely work!

Thanks and yes, totoally agree on the decal. Unfortunately I don't notice it until after it's set. In the past I've gotten around it by doing damage marks where the decal has frosted but in this instance it would have been too obvious. I need to move away from large decals and start creating some airbrush stencils.

Well might an alternative be to replace it with a BA icon from the storm raven?

Possibly though it would ruin the surface since it's quite thick. I like to keep the wings/fins free of any bulky iconography since it ruins the lines. Most of the time the icons I'll glue to the hull of the plane.
