Thanks for answering my question, I may just buy that kit after all.

@OscarWao: It was honestly one of the most fun kits to put together and paint... especially if you haven't painted a lot of different chapters!

Here's some 90-95% finished Gravis Captain for a little different flavor of Templar!

Got the powersword on my Primaris Captain finished up. Used my new Vallejo paints. They seemed to be good luck!

Other side didn't come out as good as I'd like honestly.

In addition, finished up Grimmy's gang of servitors. Freehand on the banners and cloaks presented a fun challenge!

Did a little something different. There was a contest online around the 4 elements. I ended up doing art and instead of working on something flying, I decided to just work on the paint scheme inferring the element.

Here's a freehand I did on a Land Raider before my last hiatus. I think I could definitely do better now if I took a second attempt, but I sort of want to leave it. Maybe I'll attempt another one on the other side (need to replace the metal bolters with plastic as they're falling off)

Just finished this sword brother. Upgraded to a powersword. New Primaries look cool, might lead to a resurgence.

Working on the new Helbrecht Primaris model. Trying a piece meal approach to painting which is different than my usual all together/get frustrated cause I accidentally have to repaint 9000 times... lets see how it goes!

Great freehand work on your tanks as well!

Made slightly more progress on Helbrecht but hopefully will get finished more later this week.

@Guardling: thanks! Got a little sloppy, but didn't feel like relining may fix up later.

@Shadow: I hadn't thought of that but its definitely pretty cool. I'd be surprised if there aren't more ork carcasses spread everywhere in the future.

Hola! Sorry for the long break, was working on my other project (Blackstone Fortress) while piece by piece assembling and painting the new Templar leadership corp. For you viewing pleasure and advice, I present Primaris versions of Helbrecht, Grimaldus, and the Emperor's champion. Still working on the servitors with Grimaldus.

Helbrecht front, and side versions

Grimaldus front and back

Thanks for stopping in and checking it out!

I gotta say I'm especially impressed by the way you painted the closed book so it looks like it has actual pages. Very nicely done BTs!

Thanks, I'd claim that its my skill but gee dubs did a great job with the model and I believe the pages are modeled as slight ridges.

I decided to jump in on the painting challenge this month (Should have done it with my other models, but hindsight being 20/20 can't go back). Linked Here

Some finished shots of my first two infiltrators:

I'm not entirely happy with the data screen/bulbs on the data spike he has attached, but not sure if I want to redo/reeval the colors for it.

Update on the templars!

Still working on the infiltrators (finished 4/5 for the board painting contest).

Here's the current finished and WIP

And here's the April contest entry: Primaris Crusader Squad (sans neophytes as I already started them).

Further progress on the crusader squad made. Got some base colors down. Need to highlight the black next. Trying to see if I enjoy gold/white gold-esque runic gold versus silver. I always like my crusading knights, but the newest codex made them regal as well as gritty. Really attempting to channel the in the moment grit of battle. Still haven't decided everyones load out. The pyre pistol seems cool but sword wielding champion is always boss.... oh decisions.

Reborn Crusader Squad WIP:

I like the "questing knights" dynamic that is Black Templars, so each has slightly different colors and heraldry. Trying not to over customize and slow down too much (I do that a lot...).

Particularly proud of the bolter Initiate's Heraldry. Building some freehand skills, but lots of work to do!

Here's the finished entry for the month's painting contest. Had to pick 5 to showcase, a little harder than I thought it would be!

Working on the last 3 neophytes now but wanted to be ahead of the game.

Continued Progress on the Templars! Sword Brother #1 90% finished. Tried to quickly blend the fire, so might redo... noticed I hadn't done the brass midway through the flame development.

Check out the Mayhem thread in Painting and Modeling for this month's painting competition. Everything is made up and the points don't matter. More people make it more fun!

Progress is looking sweet. Black Templars can be a difficult army to bring to life but your force is coming together quite nicely. I think the yellow bolter casings and splashes of color from the heraldic shields do a lot to add character and visual interest to the individual models.

Thanks brushcommando! I perused your guard and ultras and they’re looking nice and crisp too. Shame you all have to follow that pesky codex Astartes

Will be doing all the bases seperately as I want to keep the army theme consistent but continue to give them individuality.

Tried some different colors and techniques on these guys. As always, love to hear others feedback and input...

There are parts that I feel are still left undone and probably could have planned the shields better to tie together, but perfection leads to nothing being accomplished. However, comments and criticism welcome!

Our Knights Templar carry a diverse array of weaponry. They stand ready to unleash death upon the enemies of the Emperor.

Each one bears the shield of the campaign they earned their way into the Marshal's household on their cloak. Their backpack tells of an oath of brotherhood will fellow Astartes.

Their tilt shields bear memory to a current quest.

Their shin plate shares the story of a great feat performed as a Sword Brother of the Marshal

Let me know if you’d like any further looks at them. Fairly proud of the work so far, but know its not perfect!

Nice work! I like twin-bolter guy and thunder hammer the best. The re-colored faceplates look cool.

The hammer guy actually was just freehand actually! Glad they look similar in aesthetic however. I’ll have to get some closeups of their shin guards and post alongside their inspiration. I was a fan of lightning claw coloring too!
