I'm rather looking forward to the trident. I think the gameplay methodology with it will be neat. Hope they put in a proper stab animation for the melee strike, though.

You must have bribed the safety inspector well to get a permit for that track It's fun to hear ghasts as your looking down at a lava lake.

Thinking about all the new stuff in 1.14 though, Sho8uld we consider a world reset so we don't have to go out another 10km in all directions looking for the new coral blocks, biomes and sunken ships?

Hmm, I am not a fan of resetting the entire world (especially not with all the effort put into Ulm!) but you are right, finding newer blocks and items is difficult.
I think that we should either reset only the affected bits (deep ocean) keeping in mind certain bits (such as Stony Shore) which would be the exception because of players hard work, or we should set a point, say 2 to 3 km, from spawn within which we keep everything as is and then only reset the world beyond that.

Alternatively we could have a period whereby people can request that certain areas (IE, bits they own) be saved and not hard reset, and then after that period reset all of the map baring the requested chunks.

@sirlynchmob welcome to the Ulmanian spawn - Jungle Ruins shuttle, courtesy of the completely not dodgy planners
Dont worry, it will be expanded a little at both ends so it can become a cargo shuttle.

The end of roads if pushed put to Say thr 20k line, that's further out that most players and it's a not too much effort to get there.

We have the map room, but that's not nearly big enough, maybe dark could expand the map?

Yeah. We already mapped in the online map to 4 to 5k axis.

To do that in a map in game would... Insane.
But epic. It would be a vast wall and require scaffolds and ladders to view areas.

Can dark expand the map anymore?
I mean it's alot to process updates for now.

I think it's like 97,00 chunks mapped right now or some crazy number...

I think the map might take more server resources than the game world itself does.

The map updates incrementally. i.e. it only updates the map where the chunks have been modified by players.

In terms of storage space, the Dakka Minecraft world currently occupies 8.5GB disk space, but the web map occupies 8.6GB disk space. Not only does this grow exponentially each time the radius is increased, but it also encourages the completionists out there to go explore and "fill in the gaps". So I'd certainly rather not expand the map before any new terrain gen is in the game.

One option would just be to not change or reset the world at all, just make a new "centre". The map can be set to draw any coordinate region, not just a square around spawn. It could be interesting to have an "old continent" and "new continent". New players (or those who lose their bed) would have to make the pilgrimage. Many opportunities for transport links and hubs then...

That could be very cool. Could I ask that it be to the North? That was I could just extend the Great Tunnel, and we could have an Overworld route to the New World as well as the Nether route.

Could you have two map pages? one for each area?

maybe even copy spawn and place it some enormous distance away, probably at least 250k, and put in a command block to teleport between the two I know, I know, vanilla as possible. Maybe put it to a vote and either change the world spawn point to the new area or leave it be.

when I did my first walk abouts to get all the biomes I marched out 20k in some directions. with flying, any my nether tunnel I've been out past that. I'm sure others have as well.

oh and I'll sip you a stack of diamonds to move my tower to a new coral ocean

Nooo, you cant move - who will I sail over and blockade/raid if you do?

I think that the best way might be to keep the map chunks un-updated but update beyond the map. It pains me to say this, especially with how long the Jungle Ruins took to 'excavate' but it may be the only way to avoid losing work and still get the new blocks.
Alternatively, is it possible to update only the Deep Sea biomes?

I'd vote for spawn 2.

Maybe 100k away from spawn 1
No loss of builds, all new terrain

Good news, Ulm is no accessible via the overground road! follow the North road past the inn and there will be a sandstone path to your left as you enter the Mesa. Follow it and enter Ulm!

The railway has also been re-routed to allow for this.

My only problems with this are:
A, what happens to the Spawn village
B, what happens to the road network leading out from Spawn
C, What happens to the Nether hub
D, what happens to the Nether network

I'm not afraid of any blockades, In the darkest hour the wither will be freed I'd wire up my ship guns to fire, but I've done that before and I'd cause so much lag it could crash the server. I'm actually worried about the 1.14 update with the blocks being given new id's, it could spawn my wither defense system. I'm all about the mutually assured destruction line of defense

updating just the deep sea biomes would be bad for me as most of my base is below the water line in a deep ocean, not to mention all the ocean temple conversions. I thought about continuing the tunnel heading west in the nether, then I wondered if there will be any new blocks added to the nether. so I'm going to hold off expanding the tunnel til more information is available. It already goes out 4k (32k overworld)

Wither defence systems..... That sounds both cool and incredibly terrifying to ever use.

With the deep sea biomes, if we did update just them then perhaps certain chunks (your base, my outpost, etc) could be left un-updated or perhaps there is a way to update the environment but keep the structures?

I think when it comes to updating area's, it's the whole chunk or nothing. I've seen a youtuber do it with mcedit. you basically delete the chunk and let it respawn.

Thats an utterly terrifying scenario, but fortunately for you I dont think he will as Withers only spawn when a Wither skull is placed atop a T shaped formation of 4 Soulsand when there are already 2 skulls there. So it shouldnt explode everything....

I agree, it "shouldn't" spawn from block updates next to it, nor should it spawn after an update. But it's a game, it's a game with some rather fun bugs, and when they talk about changing block id's I start to wonder if it's going to spawn
