Continuing with Terraria. Base built, town NPC's hopefully secure. Got a reasonable stockpile of various ores and other material. Gotta go kill a wall of flesh now and hope Hardmode doesn't just bend me over like it did last time.
I had planned to go into hardmode with bows, but I got a grey zapinator and it's quite powerful and rather fun to use, so I've pivoted to a magic based build.

Be aware that The Master is not easily swayed by appeals to morality. You need to be able to prove to him that his plan won't work, so look to gather information about whether a society entirely of mutants could survive long term.
I've almost got that. But I think you also need to be a good talker right?
I'm currently playing Burning Crusade Anniversary and like with every time I replay classic WoW I have an absolute blast. Currently level 32 and just hitting my stride.
I've been playing Phoenix Point some more. Realistically i could win this game already but i want to wait to get as many available endings as possible. I should just end it though as the pandorans (mutant bio weapons crab dudes) are starting to mind control or kill plenty of my dudes and it's getting on my nerves. I have enough but the constant re-arming new soldiers is becoming costly.
bullisariuscowl wrote: Finally beat X-COM: Terror From The Deep. The final mission, T'leth "The Alien's City" is really hard, 3 layers of labyrinthine corridors with aliens hiding at every corner, and most doors are too small for your weapon platforms to fit through, so it's even harder. I have to say though, it's a really epic conclusion, knowing you're sending in your guys on a suicide mission and watching them fall on the way to the final area is really something. The idea that you're in a race against time to destroy a sleeping elder god powered by alien-fetuses before it can wake up, as the structure itself rises above the sea, preparing for Armageddon is really cinematic. I hope Apocalypse is this neat.
XCom apocalypse? Maybe I was too young g when it came out but I really wanted to love it but absolutely could t get my head around it after the original and terror from the deep. I got much more out of Aftermath, Afterlight and the other one.

More Helldivers here and there, unlocked the two new mech suits and I've taken quite a liking to the whatever the one is called with the shield and oversized shotgun.
Near the end of phoenix point. I should have enough to do most of the end missions now. The only issue is the synedrion final mission isn't showing up. I'll try to at least capture a live scylla (the really powerful apex creature that leads the mutant bio weapon enemies). That's most of what i need to do now and i can just end the game soon. Mostly trying to finish this game so i can do another Japan run of historical in hearts of iron 4 but this time going against the usa for once. Not_Online tells me it's boring.

Been playing through Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. The game is a ton of fun. I don't think the void battles are as good as on-foot combat, but it still works quite well.
"The best way to lie is to tell the truth." Attelus Kaltos.
My story! Secret War
After his organisation is hired to hunt down an influential gang leader on the Hive world, Omnartus. Attelus Kaltos is embroiled deeper into the complex world of the Assassin. This is the job which will change him, for better or for worse. Forevermore. Chapter 1.
The Angaran Chronicles: Hamar Noir. After coming back from a dangerous mission which left his friend and partner, the werewolf: Emilia in a coma. Anargrin is sent on another mission: to hunt down a rogue vampire. A rogue vampire with no consistent modus operandi and who is exceedingly good at hiding its tracks. So much so even the veteran Anargrin is forced into desperate speculation. But worst of all: drive him into desperate measures. Measures which drives Anargrin to wonder; does the ends, justify the means?

Ya, I keep wanting to do a replay, but at this point, I've played so much that I'd rather wait for the next DLC. Its awesome, and I'm looking forward to their next 40KRPG.

The Brigador Killers demo dropped today, so been playing that for a bit. Kinda weird when vaporware all of the sudden becomes a little closer to releasing some day.

I really need to finish my first play through at some point. Nevermind playing again with all the new stuff.

It really is a huge game, even without all the DLC extra stuff. Fair enough, too. I am really looking forward to their Dark Heresy game as I spent so much time immersed in the awesome lore of the Calixis sector as both a player and GM over the years. I hope Owl Cat use one of my favourite evil xenos species, the Slaught. Have you played Dark Heresy? My new character's class is Blade Dancer, which is a pretty fun class. Then assassin as the next class. What's yours?
I also did a bit more playing of Rogue Trader today. I took the ship in Solomourne's DLC the subtly named The Heartless (never change Warhammer 40,000, please). The boss battle was a real challenge at the higher difficulty above medium especially because trying to melee attack the boss Captain Sardona hurts you. The only one left at the end was Kibellah, but by then there were enough enemies left for her to handle single-handedly. The real MVP was Pasqual with his cyber eagle who manage to whittle down both Sardona and the chaos spawn he transforms into upon death. The new Overseer archetype is so strong,

GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units." Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?" Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?" GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!" Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.
More Brigador Killers, after quite a bit of trial and error I managed to get a Carmine Suit, once that's sorted out I can finally really take the fight to those corporate vultures.
Finished up FF7 Rebirth last night and boy is it a lot. First off, I'm not a huge fan of 7. It's very very good but it didn't have the impact on me it did for so many. That said, this is unquestionably the closest the franchise has come to capturing the magic that made each installment such a milestone up until 10 and only partially because its a remake. It really captures the world spanning adventure the series increasingly drifted away from starting with the PS2. The combat has its realtime elements but still rewards strategic commands and interesting character progression. A new game in this mold has real potential to live up to the franchise legacy.
As for the quality of the remake itself, its exceptional, but sadly not definitive. It is seriously lacking subtlety, particularly regarding the Black Robes and Sephiroth and its way way way way too long for what is essentially just act 2. That said, its a dramatically more fully realized plot and world and the number of times I looked in my old guide to find scenes happening more or less exactly as they originally had was impresseive.
It also does a lot better job with the Kingdom Heartsy stuff. First of all, there's a LOT less of it and even where it is, its less of a meta commentary than it was in Remake and more a way to express the Lifestream as a character and Sephiroth's corrupting influence within it. By the end it gets into some multiverse nonsense, but not in a way that gets in the way as much as I feared it might, but I'll thrown thoughts on the ending in spoilers.
Spoiler:
So, the game ends with the big scene and honestly, I was impressed with how well they almost got me a second time, right up until they pulled a bait and switch on it, and then again, and again.... and then it gets interrupted by the Jenova fight like the original and then you basically get fight Bizarro Sephiroth pulled up from the final battle to give this game a proper final boss and then.... THEN they do one more bait and switch, before baiting a switching again a couple more times. In the end I know you can't recreate a Vader scene and honestly, I think my big annoyance is the first time they do is incredibly effective, but they definitely milk the moment way too far, even if the melancholy that follows and the send off to act 3 is done exceptionally well. I'm happy with it, but I would have been happier had they let me have the moment with maybe the first fakeout to keep its impact.
In closing, I'll quote my review of Remake which largely still applies:
It's both a loving recreating of the middle chunk of the game that brings the world to life in ways the original just couldn't and a bloated mess trying to reach a satisfying standalone runtime and conclusion that kind of goes off the deep end whenever Tetsuya Nomura gets to starts writing in his Kingdom Hearts stuff. Enjoyed, but its going to be hard for this to ever be as definitive as it probably should be given the resources spent on it.
just finished a playthrough of Yakuza:like a dragon and had a blast throughout almost all of it
the fact there was so much game crammed in the game with all the mini-game nonsense was a nice distraction, i could load it up, bs around playing cards or at the batting cage, building up a bit more items that would help when i wanted to progress the story, and then i could get back to my day.
i also got a lot of laughs at some of the weirdness of it, like the enemy mobs that were just dudes hiding in large trash bags
Continuing along with Terraria. Got an awesome laser rifle when I beat the Wall of Flesh, so that has been a fun weapon to kick around with. It chews through the mana like no bodies business, but it's great at crowd control.
I was struggling with the Mechanical Bosses (Destroyer especially), but hit upon using the minecart track I built that spans the entire map to keep ahead of them and avoid their attacks. Worked a treat on the Twins and the Destroyer. Skeletron Prime still gave me a bit of trouble, but I got him after a few goes. Skipping over the lower tier hardmode armour and purposefully working my way towards getting Titanium armour really helped as well I think. Took me no small amount of effort to get enough titanium, but it was worth it. Hopefully it'll last me a good while.
I also learnt that solar eclipses are fething nuts. I didn't encounter one in my previous hardmode game. I died nine times before I got through it. (and lost a few NPCs along the way.) Luckily I had a purpose built fishing platform that i've been using for blood moon fishing which kept me out of the way of everything bar the vampire bats. Thinking I might have to build a dedicated fort or something to deal with them in the future.
I have a busy life: work, kids, keeping healthy...
If I have a minute and I'm not painting... oh boy, these Saturdays early in the morning when I can not make any noise... I plug the computer and I play Minecraft.
Relaxing and creative. I love it.

I went for the Phoenix Project ending for the Phoenix Point game and beat the game. Basically the 3 main human factions fall apart and what's left of humanity follows the Phoenix Project. There's supposedly 5 endings.
My son and I are greatly enjoying subbautica 2 multiplayer. It is definitely a worthy successor to the original. It doesn’t spoonfeed you too much. Even with general location waypoints for stuff you still need to put time into exploring to get all the needed stuff from each zone.
The main big nasty is suitably scary, the story interesting as you pick it up in chunks of found logs and scraps of narrative.
I’m glad the Unknown Worlds guys won their lawsuit. It is the most polished early access I’ve seen.
And as per BrookM, when you are on your own with no vehicles facing a drop-off cliff that just seems to go on forever into the darkness with deep booming sounds coming from somewhere, the thallasophobia is real

The amount of times I've gone "Nope!" so far when confronted with such a deep plunge into the dark..
And agreed, this is such a polished early access release thus far, with just the right amount of guidance and figure it out yourself. No vehicles yet, though I am slowly collecting pieces of Sea Moth data.

Same with us! Especially in the early stages of the game, we both looked down and totally Noped out and wandered back to safety in the shallows
The Tadpole is a nice vehicle, and I think it pulls in the best bits of the sea moth and sea truck concept from Sub Zero. Keen to see the full set of vehicles available in due course.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Aaaand finished the available story. Roll on the next big update. Is to see if I can get the boy to join me in a week long Halo streak while the girl is away

Yesterday's Hearts of iron 4 game is going ok i guess. It's early 1941 historical and my japan has taken most of china. I was hoping to grab south east asia and parts of indonesia before assaulting the philippines for a fight with the usa. That said it might be hard to handle all the U.S. navy at this point. I'm trying to push HARD on navy now and naval dockyards but also radar among my islands which i have a high level for.
Been playing Torchlight, which is like Diablo but more cartoony looking. Beats the main quest with a Vanquisher, still playing around with the two other classes. Just used Mod Drop to install mods on it, the first time I ever successfully installed mods on any game.
I've started playing Lord of the Rings Online, and it's pretty addictive in the way many RPGs are. I didn't remember that the game came out in like 2005 or so originally; it's held up pretty well I think!

I played LOTRO for years. I could in theory go back, I’ve got a founder’s lifetime account. Although I think they changed owners at some point? Not sure if it’s still valid. They did a great job with the world building and bringing the books to life. But eventually the gameplay just got so repetitive. Go to the ork camp, kill 10, collect 5 mccguffins. They were still slowly adding new ares and raising the level cap when I drifted away. Southern Gondor, Ithaliion, but not quite into Mordor yet.
Still a lot of fun, from delivering pies in the Shire to exploring the deeps of Moria. I think it was the last MMO I played before steering clear of that format.
LOTRO changed owners a bunch of times, but as I far as I know, whatever you paid for sticks. I stopped playing it for now, in Minas Tirith, and by now, they've gone beyond the book's main story.
