Trying dont starve on PS+

You thought Cassowaries were harmless? They're possibly the bird with the largest Human Kill sheet out there.

They're like God-damned Velociraptors, especially with the slow walk towards you and the way they surround you. I wasn't expecting it at all. I'm never going back to that island unless I have to, and if I do go back I'm going there with a fething flamethrower.

My first death on FC3 was to a Cassowary.

No animals that I see live - just as a precautionary measure.

The only animals in FC3 that ever killed me are Tigers and Crocodiles. Now considering that I've had an odd anxiety and fear issue with video game animals since I accidently alarmed a giant, pixelated husky dog of death which snuck up on me back in Medal of Honour: Allied Assault's second mission, and then proceeded to never play that game again, it was pretty unnerving when it did happen.

Especially this one time when I decided to swim through a cave to find some secrets and get past this natural rock barrier faster only to get snapped on halfway through by one of those ugly buggers. As is procedure I immediately smashed escape and caught my breath.

Tigers are pretty much the sole reason I always take a Flamethrower with me unless an RPG would be far more preferable for a mission.

Cassowaries were easy though. Never even got close to dying to one once and it was only 3/4 of the game when I was literally told by a forum-goer that they were dangerous did I realize they can actually kill you. To my memory they're a lot slower than Tigers, because if they spot you unless you're ready to shoot them and have a high damage gun with enough ammo to kill it, you're going to get pounced, no matter what. Also, I seem to remember that they had about a quarter of the health of a Tiger and one AR burst was sufficient to kill them.

You do realize that Birds are part of the Clade Dinosauria...

Initially they'll just walk slowly around, edging ever closer. Shoot one though and the whole pack goes ballistic. I had backed myself into a dead end with a shotgun when the whole group came at me. It was frightening.

And it's worse because you don't expect it. I mean, it's just a big dumb flightless bird right? I mean, Emus and Ostriches and Penguins are all flightless birds and you wouldn't go running from one of them. Nope. Cassowaries are Far Cry 3's Raptors. Avoid at all costs.

I dunno man Emus and Ostriches are fugging brutal, they can literally stomp you to death with those claws. I'd be more concerned by one of those than like a large deer or something. Maybe not a moose, those are huge, but yeah... big birds are scurry.

This conversation is surreal, I love it.

Currently, I'm flipping back an forth between the Bravely Default demo, State of Decay(which I suck entirely at), and good old Red Alert 2.

Have to disagree there, emus and ostriches are easily capable of killing a full grown human, one kick can do it. That said, cassowaries are actually the most agressive out of all the big flightless birds we still got, and quite skilled in the art of showing you your own intestines.

I didn't say those bigger birds couldn't hurt someone, just that they generally wouldn't. They're more likely to high tail it out of there at the first sign of trouble (their cheif weapons are speed). The Cassowary... the damn thing hunt you.

I remember watching an episode of the Crocodile Hunter, where Steve had to go catching Cassowaries. I think those are the only things he was actually afraid of, from the way he acted. So yeah. Birds be gangsta.

I've started playing Sins of a Solar Empire Trinity. Its is a very fun but long game.

I saw that for cheap on steam, but I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get into it or not.

Definitely digging on the BG2:EE, twas my game in the day, so that's no real surprise. Hard to say no to extra/new stuff at that.

You should've gotten Rebellion; it comes with Trinity included.

Well with the plan on getting a new kustom built PC in the next month I'll be picking up a few Multiplayer titles. Namely Torchlight II, Mechwarrior Online, Lord of the Rings Online and (possibly) League Of Legends.

I'm currently playing Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection (I think that's what its called) on the PSP. I'm currently on Final Fantasy IV at the moment... not sure if I'll bother with the Interlude or the After Years, though, to tell you the truth... I just want to check off FF IV on my list of FF games I've played.

Every now and then I'll continue my single player campaign game of XCOM: Enemy Unknown or Dawn of War II - Chaos Rising on the PC... but mostly focusing on FF IV right now.

I know, I've seen let's plays on Youtube and played maybe 3 hours of it myself. But it decided not to load anymore. I can leave the stupid thing up for and hour and it won't load my Lvl 14 Embermage. But then again... playing it on a 2004 machine probably wasn't the best idea...

Now onto the second island...

Played Trine 2 for several hours today. Man this is a really entertaining game, not to mention it's rather pretty. I think the thief is my fave of the 3 but just barely.

OK, whilst I wait for opportunity to connect to the internet again so I can install Batman: Arkham Origins, I'm playing :-

Oblivion as an Agent
Skyrim pretty much the same character as Oblivion
Fallout 3 with Luck of 10, and high agility and perception, and the alien blaster.
Hellgate: London
and
X: Beyond the Frontier.

Bought Torchlight II. Yup, lives up to the hype. I've put about 8 hours into it since Saturday

Virtue's Last Reward, on the 3DS. It's an intriguing puzzle/story game that also requires you to make choices based on the concept of the prisoners' dilemma. I'm a good few hours in and am enjoying it.

I've always wondered how it was to go through an Elder Scrolls game as a Mercantile or Speechcraft focused character- just how many situations can you bypass or get our of with proper use of bribery and smooth talking?

Probably not nearly enough if you try to do the main plot. Skyrim has beefy helpers to mitigate your own wimpyness but oblivion may be rough.

Yikes… Far Cry 3 gets a ramp up in difficulty once you hit that second island. I hate bullet sponge bad guys, and those mercenary heavies just soak up the damage. I can put 2 magazines of sniper rifle fire into them with my trusty Remington M700 – a gun that has served me very well so far – and they just don’t die. Worse, the ammunition wastage was costing me so much that I ran out of money.

Luckily some bright spark managed to find out the dev console command codes for god mode and unlimited ammo, so I turned those on for a while until I got my money back up and unlocked the .50 cal sniper rifle. I then found out the .50 cal can get a suppressor, as unrealistic as that sounded to me. No I have something that can take out heavies, and can go back to playing the game normally.

You...ran out of money that late in the game? I never had that problem

I have been playing a lot of Remember Me and MGR:Revengeance while occasionally playing FC3.

Also really enjoying The Bureau, oddly enough.
