I know I'm a bit late to this particular party, but I got Battlefield: Bad Company 2 last night (Steam Sales! Y U SO TEMPTING! )
Really enjoying it so far, but only got about an hour in.
I've also fallen back into X3: Terran Conflict, so putting a bit of time into that as well.

I'm not sure which Thief game it was.. maybe deadly shadows.. but I couldn't take it seriously past maybe 5 minutes in. They wanted me to shoot some kind of magic water arrows at torches to disable them so I could sneak around. Magic water arrows. To put out torches. It just seemed... I dunno more magicky than it should have been, and really ridiculous. If you want to make a game where you can shoot out lightbulbs, then make it a game with guns and light bulbs. Hell, if you were throwing a bag of sand or a slightly more durable water balloon... or even using magic to throw a globe of water at it... but magic water arrows just destroyed my suspension of disbelief for some reason.
I'm sure the games are good, but I literally could not continue at that point. Kind of like if they told me to use the B button to molest children, brain would not allow clicking.
Diablo3 seems a bit more fun, I'm not sure how Torment is different from Monster Power, but I like the changes to crafting, loot, and so on. It had been awhile since I'd played too so I'm sure some of this stuff has existed for awhile. Still ranking it as a decent switch brain off and hackNslash for a while game.
Pokemon Yellow is still reasonably entertaining 10-15 hours in. The pacing seems a little weird but I'm probably just letting one of my dudes win too many of the trainer fights and out level everything else. Grinding is kind of boring but now that I've found the fast forward button on my emulator It can at least go fast. Certainly an entertaining franchise and way more fun that the majority of proper cell phone app games (at least for me).

@Megabassist. stavi1492 is my origin name. Usually preceded by whoever Dome-shotted/blew me up. Although my personal skill may be lacking I like to think i'm a good team player and i am actually pretty good with ground vehicles. I was also tempted by BF BC2 but unfortunately i just know the only players will be people who are ridiculously good. I had a great time with it on ps3, i will cherish those memories.

Judge Dredd - Dredd Vs Death from way back in 2003. The game was panned, but I think it holds up for what it is. Its not spectacular, but not horrible either. I'd enjoy if the licence was dealt with better, and hell if just a decent game was made from it (hmn, something like Deus Ex: Human Revolution ...sort of. ...but in a Mega City). But I suppose, based on the response to the latest movie, the setting doesn't hit it big for some reason. =/
Next up; Durham Red, ahem, the original Bloodrayne. GoG had a sale on.

It was an epic ride, with lots of time gaps between gaming sessions, but I did it, even though I hate the combat system when compared to ATII. In fact, I believe everything in II is better.
I can now start Ar Tonelico 3 for PS3, which I hopefully will once I'm back home again for the weekend!

I'm finding the UI to be a bit clunky.
For example, how do you know if your strategic / tactical missile launcher is loaded, and with how many weapons? I did not see any indicator.
Also, is there a limit as to how many they can hold?
Yes, but you have to click on them. There are two different icons, one for build ordinance, the other for fire. I forget which way is which, but if you click on the build button normally, it builds one missile. Click using the other button and it auto-builds until full. I think strategic is 5, tactical is either 10 or 20. Still doesn't make it that clear when one is available to fire, you have to keep your eye out for 'build finished' notifications.
As to me, I'm trying to go through Arkham Origins, and keep getting curb-stomped by Bane. Jeez, I can't get the timing right on that encounter for some reason. One or two stuns into the super-stun and he hits me and breaks the flow. I also don't seem to be quick enough to dodge his charges. Might have to try quickfire battarang then attempt the dodge before I go mad. [already bust the stand on one end of my keyboard due to furious key hammering in that fight.] :(

The first three Theif games are fantastic its such a shame that was the reason that put you off. The variety of arrows offer a great deal of tactical options in the game. Rope arrows stuck to any wooden surface allowing you to climb, moss arrows cover noisy surfaces allowing you to walk over them silently and so on. Theif has its own steampunk style with intresting supernatural elements and technology. I dont think its any more sill than countless other games.
If you enjoy stealth games I highly recommend you give it another try.

Its a fantastic game. Its old and clunky but the gameplay stands up even today.
I haven't played the new Thief yet but I am disappointed that they have seemingly made garrett much more generic and less intresting than he once was.
Also seems to be a lot less freedom in the new game especially with design choices like rope arrows only working on fixed points instead of all wood

@TtW barbarian is soooo fun, I wasted a good 2-3 hours last night leveling. Of course you would have to be one of those stinky console users though, nobody loves us PC people anymore. I really like my WD, he's very laid back compared to some of the classes but I just can't like the DH. He's almost 50 but you just have to run around and spam so many buttons with him.
@Carlos it could have been a bad week or something, I was just very much put off at first. I occasionally enjoy stealth games, but I have to punctuate them with mass carnage or run n' gun, I'm only so patient... it's a resource that is easy to deplete
Like how I about put down pokemon yellow while I was trying to get a Gyarados out of a Magikarp, that was obnoxious. I've lost my attention span for grinding unless the actual activity itself is amusing. So diablo3's ok, but MMOs are permanently out after so many years.

I completed Bloodrayne. Meh. I played the second one. The first one was better. =P
The historical inaccuracies in the first one did my head in after a while, but I guess it was meant to be a silly action game. I kind of sat there thinking, "they may be big bad evil Nazis, but these guys have families", as I hacked them into little pieces. Again, silly action game. I prefer games where the mooks have a bit more character, which beyond a single conversation about a joke before the player kicks the door in and hacks everyone up, just wasn't a thing in either of those games (I'd say even less so in the second, where the enemies turned into completely subservient thralls).
Three games down now from the latest GoG sale. Next up Gemini Rue, which damn well better have a great story (well it is sold as a story driven game). Failing that I'm digging out Arcanum for a playthrough.

I preferred the gameplay of the second, honestly. Except for the Kill Puzzles. Great and fun concept, horrible execution. I hope TRI will eventually make a sequel. Or something to resolve the ending. I want to see World War Vampire :( Anyway, still playing through Supreme Commander, and I finally beat the UEF campaign after 18 hours. Found out how to check the TMD and SMD launchers' ammo too, which made countering those pesky aeon nukes in the 5th mission oh so much easier.

Oh yeah, those puzzles really did my head in. That and the pathway to objectives not being clear a lot of the time (like pulling down the cieling with your chain. The chain only works in certain places, nor have you ever did an action like that previously). The first game had its problems in level design as well, particularly a latter part in the game involving entering a castle where damn near every door is locked (only to find out that the entrance is hidden in a breakable wall. Fine, breaking into locations through walls was a thing before. Having to hit the wall multiple times wasn't. Cue running about the level for ages). I did find myself thinking though in the second one that "hey, I could've jumped over that low wall in the first game" and cut out half of a level. ¬¬
Gemini Rue so far's all right. I'm not sure if I'm messing up important bits or not, but I guess that's the hallmark of a good puzzle game. Right? Damn I should have told that receptionist I was a PH Engineer.

Sadly I dont remember that mission, it being years since I last played the game. I should certainly replay it.
I love garrets little quips in the old game. He is someone who is good at theft so does it to pay the rent and keep a roof over his head for the most part. The new garret lives in a clock tower and dresses like a ninja and says he steals "because its what I do" which makes me think they have replaced garret with a cardboard cutout.

I feel like this gives everybody an idea of just how many aliens I captured in the hopeful chance I'd get a request from a nation for plasma weaponry which usually ends in lots of money. I kept lots of alien corpses and everything but all I ended up getting is usually requests for arc throwers or something stupid early on like satellites which was really hard to give (and I only fulfilled one satellite order because I needed that money). Keep in mind this is on impossible difficulty and I was in about October, November or possibly even the beginning of December of 2015 when I snapped that picture. All of those plasma rifles, light plasma rifles, plasma pistols and all but 2 or so of the heavy plasmas are from stunned alien captives.
My money per month is actually pretty low (only about 500 something credits per month). Which is why I had to capture most of my plasma weaponry and sell some ufo power sources and flight computers as well as some other stuff. I've also got quite a few firestorms.
I just find it crazy that the number of plasma weapons I have could probably outfit a small army instead of just a squad. It'd be kind of awesome if I could start making multiple bases and an entire army with this gear. Hell I probably have enough to give all xcom base security personnel plasma weapons and alien grenades.

Actually no this is on impossible difficulty. It's not on ironman mode though. I don't think I could handle ironman too easily. I do repeat some saves when my squad gets wiped out but if most of it gets wiped out I don't.
Classic ironman isn't that hard though and I beat it anywhere from 4-5 times before trying impossible. Impossible ironman players are nuts. I think I'd put my fist through the computer before beating it if I could even manage it.
The odd part about impossible difficulty is once you have your momentum going it's pretty hard to lose it. The hardest part of the game is early to mid-game. Pretty much once satellites are covering most or all of the remaining nations and you have a couple countries that can leave the council without anything seriously bad happening you're golden. Not to mention if you've beaten base defense and the slingshot or 'enemy within' council missions then things should be pretty easy. Some council missions are also pretty easy while others are much harder. Saving anette's friends is not very hard but the first mission where you rescue the captive exalt member is. The mission where you rescue her is mixed since it's a timed mission. Same goes for the train and battleship mission in slingshot.

It's not too hard to capture aliens. You just have to do certain things. Get the double item ability in the foundry, get squadsight snipers with disabling shot, use fast moving supports with med-kits and arc throwers esp. the boosted arc thrower (and early on use noobs and red-shirts to stun the enemy), if you have to use the flashbang grenades to disorient some clustered enemies when you're getting into position to capture them. Later on gene mods like secondary heart help a lot so that if your supports lose all their health trying to capture an enemy they get knocked out the first time they are reduced to no health and they bleed out over 5 turns instead of 3.
