Thanks for the article. It's an aspect of the 40k universe I am interested in and appreciate the amount of effort you have put in here. I am also reading through your other articles on civilians now.

The reason I think civilians are important to keep in mind when thinking about the setting as a whole is twofold: firstly, as the imperium fights for survival, it is good to have a reminder of what they are fighting for; as insignificant as the individual may be, he is still human and worth protecting.
Secondly, if everyone is a hero, no-one is a hero.

Plus detailing the seemingly mundane parts of the imperium (and indeed any civilisation) adds flavour and depth.

Quality is timeless. The age of your golden articles are not their main features, but their brilliance, completely true to the spirit of the setting.

I hope many more discover these pearls.

Huh, 7 year necro?

Also, kind of surprised the article doesn't mention Admech and GSC ranges, both have close to dozen civilian vehicles between them...

Great article, glad it was merrily resurrected from the forum graves so I could read it.

There's someone I follow on instagram who is currently making a lot of civilian vehicles out of various kits. https://www.instagram.com/kevlar_and_clank/" target="_new" rel="nofollow"> https://www.instagram.com/kevlar_and_clank/

They might be even on this forum I've not checked but I like their stuff.

@Olthannon: Nice tip there! He have some fine builds for sure.

This 1950s Soviet amphibious car, in all its rivetted glory and horrible ergonomy indoors, is clear inspirational material for 40k:

My own little project. At the moment I'm planning on selling the STL's once they're ready. Just need to figure out under what name I wanna do that and on which platform...

Those are awesome!

You shouldn't be worried about the one bullet with your name on it, Boldric. You should be worried about the ones labelled "to whom it may concern"-from Blackadder goes Forth!

Just came in here to erase some spam, but figured the thread deserves a bump to show off Kevlar and Clank's work.

I only just stumbled onto this article and thread… wow! Brilliant resource and I do not even play 40k. Incredible to see such historical footnotes and outstanding points on fleshing out the worldbuilding of the 40k universe. It would be good to see it updated with the latest vehicle models but even as is it is outstanding and I greatly enjoyed reading it. Thanks!
