For those who want a more proper foot knight

Fireforge after a few months of not doing much have revealed their early WiP for not one, but THREE plastic infantry sets for crusader era armies: Templars, Teutonics, and Sergeants

There are so many parts!

Crusader Infantry WIP (35 photos)
Here is a photo album about sculptures of our incoming infantry sets. These pictures were taken during several stages in the sculpting process, so some changes were done and things improved. This is not the final product.

Excellent stuff. Thanks for posting this.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

I wasn't really a huge fan of the heads, but the bodies rock! Kitbash options anyone?!

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I like their stuff a lot. But they really need to do the Saracens.

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

Hi,

Here is some pictures of the first production run test for our coming Foot Sergeants plastic infantry release:

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=481357515216911&set=a.481357498550246.114214.271339052885426&type=1&theater

This is going to be the first plastic infantry set we'll release during next months. The others are going to be Teutonic Infantry and Templar Infantry.
Foot Sergeants set will have 48 miniatures in a mix of medium armours with options to build them as spearmen, crossbomen as well as armed with 1h weapons.
Teutonic and Templar infantry sets will have 24 miniatures each in a mix of heavy armours with options to build them as dismounted knights, heavy foot sergeants and heavy crossbowmen. You'll find several weapons like spears, swords, axes, maces as well as 2h weapons.

The scheduled release dates are:

Foot Sergeants - First week of November (there is a slight chance we'll be able to release them earlier during October)
Teutonic and Templar Infantry - Early December

Cheers,
Fabio

Woot finally some teutonic foots thay wont look wonky.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Will there be multi-box deals on these, like your cavalry sets?

....These comments hurt my head....sooooo much. The heads are based on historical refrences not some fancy crazy artwork somone came up with.

The only downside i can see is the repeat bodies on the sprue but even still it took me multiple glances to notice that because I kept staring at the horde pic and despite the knowing their are twice as many of two of the bodies as the others those aren't the ones I keep seeing repeated in the horde pic. Good proof that there is a lot of variety available between the heads and the weapons.
Great looking set. (and I love the heads)

Hoods are very midieval, and so are the teutonic knight helmets. The helmet decorations were an attempt to scare the pagans.

I know they're historical. That doesn't mean I have to like them. Personal taste and all that jazz. That said, they look remarkably better all painted up. The bodies are still awesome, painted or unpainted.

@timetowaste: that actually was directed at the other comment about making better looking heads and not you. I have FF at home and great models. The only change i made was to brass lances as much less likrly to break but the quality coupled with price is just awesome.

Ah, gotcha. Problem was that you had both of us in the quotes and said "these"-that makes for commenting on both our quotes. English major forces me to notice those things. Lol

I do really like those. But did the hoods over helmets heads make the cut? I don't see them on the sprue and I thought they were very interesting.

Nice looking models. I'll possibly pick some up at some stage - no idea what I'll use them for though!

Well there are still 2 more sets coming out. Teutonics and templars. Perhaps one of them has the hoods? the test shots do group the hooded ones with the knight ones it seems

Hooded heads are in the Templar Infantry set. There are 4 hooded heads with relative cloaks, they are both "optional" since there are enough option choices to build all the miniatures in the set with different head/cloak types if you don't like the hooded ones.
