Pre-Game
I made the Final Four!!! There was one player who was 6-0 and 4 with 5-1 records so I had to win a tiebreaker (records of your defeated opponents, I think) over the 5th place finisher. Since I was 4th, I was matched against the #1 ranked player, and his undefeated GK Henchman army. We were playing for 5 objectives, so again I'd need to focus on denial and also try to keep my troops alive as long as possible.

I won the roll for first turn, and chose the side of the board that had the most objectives near my DZ. I gave my opponent first turn since I was more concerned with getting the last shot at objectives than I was with his Psybacks' shooting.

Deployment
Spoiler:

You can see three of the five objectives. There is one objective on my side of the field, but off to the left. The last objective is between the three Razorbacks on his left side. Coteaz was in the middle Rhino and, unfortunately had rolled the Immoveable Object Warlord Trait making him able to score objectives. So along with his 5 squishy Henchmen squads, I have to contend with the Coteaz-led Purifiers! My opponent also had his Dreadknight behind the green ruin on the left.

My setup was pretty simple. I placed my two Battle Sister units on the left of my line. They'd hide as long as possible and then make a move for the two closest objectives. All my shooting was on the right, since it gave me the best sight lines against two of the other objectives. Given the volume of twin-linked S6-8 shooting, there's no way my Immolators make it across the board, so the Dominions were outflanking and the Seraphim would Deep Strike. Hopefully, they'll be able to deny my opponent's objectives in the middle and later parts of the game.

Grey Knights Turn 1
Spoiler:

No, Turn 1 images apparently. (This one's from the top of Turn 2.)
He mostly stayed put in his movement phase. The dreds shifted around a bit and the Dreadknight jumped forward. His shooting focused first on my Quad Gun, which he killed, and then against my Retributors that were deployed in the ruin. I think he killed a bunch of the bolters.

Sisters Turn 1
Spoiler:

My return fire was underwhelming. My primary targets were the Razorbacks. They had immensely fragile troops in them so they needed to die. I did manage to explode one and I also immobilized Coteaz's Rhino.

Grey Knights Turn 2
Spoiler:

This picture sucks, but you can see that Coteaz and the Purifiers hopped out of their Rhino.

The Exorcist was destroyed, the Rets in the ruin are down to just two Heavy Bolters, and the other Retributor squad lost another bolter girl.

The Dreadknight shunts over and blasts my Battle Sisters with his Heavy Incinerator. Between that and other shooting five die. After my last few games, I get a little twitchy every time I have to make a LD check, but thankfully the Sisters hang tough.

Sisters Turn 2
Spoiler:

What's that way in the back? It's the Dominions! I played it a bit cautiously and kept them in the Immolator. I thought that I could keep them safe for a turn. Combined shooting from the Immolator and the Retributors managed only to stun the two Razorbacks. Who doesn't care about Stunned vehicles? Grey Knights!

On the other flank the other Dominion squad comes in. Combined fire from all four units brings down the Dreadknight! (This picture was taken in the following turn. Here my forward BSS has Gone to Ground for the 2++ against some rending psycannon shots.)

Grey Knights Turn 3
Spoiler:

As expected the Razorbacks use Fortitude to shrug off the damage results. They move up, away from the Dominions. The Dreadnoughts get ready to take down the Immolator. Bonus: This picture is an action shot of Christian rolling the to repair the immobilized Rhino. D'oh!

Immolator destroyed! At least the Dominions didn't break, right?

Sisters Turn 3
Spoiler:

Celestine is here! They had actually come in on Turn 2, but I mishapped and went back into reserves. My second attempt was more successful, although their scatter meant that they were unable to bring the full force of their attacks against the Purifiers.

Even still, they were able to wipe the squad and reduce Coteaz to a single wound. Man... if I had been one inch closer!

Unpictured, the Dominions on the left flank hopped back in their Immolator and advanced towards the enemy line.

Grey Knights Turn 4
Spoiler:

Coteaz hops into his newly repaired ride and runs off towards an objective. Not before casting Misfortune (reroll all successful saves) on my Seraphim though.

He castles up a bit, putting two lines of units between the Dominions and his objective.

Shooting kills Celestine and four of the Seraphim who break and run.
Not pictured: The other Immolator is destroyed and the BSS squad behind the Aegis line takes another casualty. They're now down to 4 women!

Sisters Turn 4
Spoiler:

My Dominions advance, undaunted. They blow up a Razorback, catching two of the Henchmen in the blast. They would then try to assault the survivor, but he was too far away.

It's now time to start going for the objectives. The full strength BSS moves from their sheltered position. The shot up BSS explodes the Purifier Rhino with their Multi-melta and supporting fire from the other unit kills all but one.

Celestine stays down but the Seraphim rally. Shooting from the Retributors is ineffective.

Grey Knights Turn 5
Spoiler:

This may be the final turn so the two Razorbacks drop off their Henchmen. (The models are Death Cultists, but they were just regular henchfolk.) The forward Razorback sends a unit towards the foreground objective. The unit from the rear Razorback sends its squad to form a "no go" zone in case Celestine gets back in the fight.

The other Razorback (which still has 3 Henchmen in it) forms a barrier along with Coteaz's Rhino. Coteaz disembarks to score the objective.

The Grey Knights' shooting nearly wipes out the Seraphim and the Henchmen run onto the objective.

The single Henchman that was in the wreck advances on my Dominions. Continued shooting at my BSS kills two more Sisters. I need them to live if I want to score that objective!

Sisters Turn 5
Spoiler:

Unfortunately for the Henchpeople, the lone surviving Seraphim has Hand Flamers and happily burns them to a crisp. Sadly, Celestine still is not getting back up.

The two sisters advance from behind the Aegis line and get just within 3" of the objective. The Sister Superior bolters down the lone Henchman. The other BSS moves up to occupy the other objective and shoots down the last Purifier as well.

We're at the end of 5 and I think I'm just barely ahead. We both have two objectives. I have First Blood, but he gets a point for St Celestine. We didn't measure at the time, but looking at the pictures I think the Dominions are within his DZ giving me the go-ahead point for Linebreaker.

Grey Knights Turn 6
Spoiler:

The Game Continues! Unfortunately, I stopped taking pictures.
In this turn the last squad of Henchmen disembarked to join Coteaz on the objective. Coteaz, the Rhino, and the Razorback try to kill the last two Sisters holding one of my objectives, but the ladies make their saves.

Sisters Turn 6
Spoiler:

Here you can see the disembarked henchmen, and also the small window in the tanks that allowed Coteaz to shoot at my Sisters. In my turn, the Dominions advanced. I was hoping to assault the Razorback and get a nice roll that would allow me to get within 3" of the objective but I failed the assault altogether. Celestine finally got back up (although she lost her cape) and needed an 8 or 9" to assault the henchmen, but could only get a 6 or so.

None of that was too important though, because with Celestine back on her feet and my Dominions inside of his Deployment Zone, I'm winning 8-6!

Grey Knights Turn 7
Spoiler:

NOOOO! The game continues to a 7th turn!
The Henchmen standing with Coteaz leave their objective to screen off the Dominions. That would ultimately prove unnecessary as the Dominions were ruthlessly shot down by the Dreadnoughts. After their stellar performance in Turn 6 the two woman BSS is finally subdued by enemy fire. Not wanting her to get to Coteaz, the Dreadnought charged Celestine locking her up for the rest of the game.

Sisters Turn 7
Spoiler:

I'm down to a single objective, Celestine's locked up, and my Linebreaker unit has been destroyed. However, by taking the Henchmen off of Coteaz's objective my opponent has given me one last chance. If I can take his last wound off, I'll win the game. My one remaining BSS puts all of their firepower into the Inquisitor but his 2+ armor is too strong and he makes all of his saves.

The Aftermath
Spoiler:

After a full 7 turns the Grey Knights have held on to two objectives, while the Sisters only have one. Although I get a bonus VP for First Blood, it's not enough to cover the gap.

Victory to the Grey Knights! 6-4

Man that was rough. I got lucky on turn 6 when my two remaining Battle Sisters made 5 or 6 saves to hold their objective. The law of averages came back to bite me in the ass when game continued to turn 7. Christian did a really good job of creating the "no fly" zone around the objective in the crater. I couldn't get far enough in a single jump to get at the Henchmen on the objective, so on Turn 6 when Celestine got back up, I had no choice but to try and get Coteaz in assault. When that failed he made another smart move, locking her in combat instead of trying to kill her with shooting attacks. At that point, my only chance was to kill Coteaz, but with his 2+ armor, that was an uphill fight.

All three of the games I played on Day 2 were amazingly close and I was just happy to have made it to the finals. A rematch against the Necrons would have been fun, but I appreciated being able to sit and watch after 15 hours of gaming. I think at the end of the day, a lot of people got a taste of what the Sisters can really do. We don't have a Deathstar, we can't do MSU, and there aren't any Ecclesiarchy flyers, but the Women held their own against the best and when they did finally fall, they at least gave the other guy a bloody nose, which is all you can ask for.

Great battle! You almost had him.

My battle against Christian (game #6) is coming up next!

No flyers, no deathstars, no MSU....I would say it's your mastery of the Sisters that brought you to this point. Congrats on a very successful tournament with a very under-rated army.

High praise from you both! Thanks a lot! Honestly, if anyone learns anything from these reports that's a win in my eyes.

This was probably my favorite game of the entire tournament. After my little "outburst" in the previous game I had calmed down a lot and was able to treat this game as really just a bonus. Playing against Christian was very different, but in a good way. He's an incredibly calm and thoughtful player so it was a quiet game, but very intense.

This was my first GT and it was an exceptional experience.

Oh man! People will HATE you. I haven't looked at Thawn in a while, but he's got Mastery Level 2 so with the new pyschic powers/rules he should be a lot more useful now. That could be a nasty little add-on to a Sisters army.

I like how you called Battle Sisters, 'Women'

Awesome battle report! You did amazing with an army that goes all too often ignored. I was enthralled with the story, though it is sad how close you were to victory

Was thinking of starting a Sisters of Battle army if they rerelease them in plastic (I'm hopeful) Also, my brother plays GK

There was some recently leaked release schedule that had a bunch of new stuff for the Sisters in mid-2013. There have been plastic Sisters rumors for years, but maybe we'll get lucky and this one will be legit!

Ya know for each of the battle reports that I've read of the sisters I keep thinking "Ohh that turn really hurt them, I doubt they'll come back from it" and I was constantly surprised by how wrong I was. Awesome stuff.

It would be so cool to finally have updated Sisters of Battle stuff! I think I know what leak you're referring to, and here's hoping also that by next year I could be fielding a plastic SoB army

I don't have my rulebook with me so I can't say you when you can do it, but if your weapons can't hurt a model your in CC with you can get out of CC by making an Initiative check in the movement phase(I believe, again, my Rulebook is at home)

Great bat-rep, it is nice to read a bit about an army I see so seldom on the tabletop

Thanks for the thumb's up. Spreading the gospel of the Sisters is what it's all about!

About the whole "can't hurt the enemy" thing, Celestine has Krak Grenades which would prevent her from using the "Our Weapons Are Useless" rule to break from combat, since they can potentially glance a Dread. Even if she didn't, she's fearless which explicitly prevents her from using that rule. Even if she wasn't, she'd have to take a wound in order to have a morale check that she could then choose to fail, and if she had taken a wound the S6 Dreadnought would have killed her outright. So in sooo many ways, she was well and truly boned.
