Pretty decent, except I ran into kryptonite in the first round. Grey Knight player got to go first, had 8 warp quakes that all went off successfully, and the only non warp quaked area was covered by Coteaz and purifiers. my first wave was pretty much eradicated, and we called it.

Since that took 5 minutes, we played another game for fun, and I went first. Pretty much the exact reverse...without the turn 1 warp quake i swarmed him and wiped him out.

Tabled my next two opponents...eldar and imperial guard.

Warp Quaking GK's is one of the most frustrating things in the game for Daemons. What were your thoughts on the Chariots? I really want to like them, but they compete with Grinders that I really want to like as well.

Why not split up your stuff into MSU? 3x3 flamers, 4x5 Horrors with 4x Bolts and say 15 Daemonettes?

With wrecking vehicles in assault being a viable option now, I think there is some advantage to bringing along larger Horror squads. The AP 4 massed shooting is better than last edition, they can overwatch 27 shots into an enemy and stand up well in CC with the elimination of Fearless wounds.

Flamers have the same benefits in larger squads.

I like the 18 Daemonettes, that is how I have been running mine lately - they are a land in the center hold an objective/charge unit that can withstand the overwatch hits while remaining combat effective.

MSU is actually less flexible. With 9-man flamer units, they're virtually immune to charges, since they inflict, on average, 9 unsavable wounds or glancing hits on anything that charges them.

Calypso also nailed it on the horrors and daemonettes. Larger squads stick around longer, can tarpit units if necessary.

Hmmm.... my how the game has changed..... We, the daemon players, need to collectively sit down and discuss daemon tactica. I think ill start a thread and ask daemon players to post on it..... ill update it shortly.

Yeah, with the changes to flamers, large squads, especially with the addition of a herald, can walk around destroying pretty much anything.

There were rumors that Ward worked on GKs and Daemons simultaneously to try to get that interaction and balance right. Assuming the rumors about a new codex in February come true, it'll be interesting to see what Daemons get to deal with GKs and things like Warp Quake. As it stands now, Warp Quake is just unfair, really.

Please. I've no problem with a challenge, but when a game can be finished in 5 minutes, there's really something wrong.

I ran into an opponent at the GT level who was runnign 2 sets of strikes, it was Dawn of War and he got 2 potential units for his Grand Strategy - which means to me Scout up, quake the entire board just about.

Thankfully, he said - I came here to play - and we duked it out with warp quakes protecting him, but not covering the board. It was a great game and makes me agree entirely Centurian.
