Daimyo Orka Nobzunaga studied the map in front of him. Everything had gone wrong since Warboss Ash Cager had rammed the space hulk into the ‘umies pathetic capitol. Grated there was a brief period of glorious krupin’ and lootin’, but with the ‘umies dead the Waaagh had lost its steam with no way off this rock the tribes had split and were warring amongst themselves. This wasn’t how it was supposed to be, Orks were supposed to krump the other gitz, not each other, at least not for this long. He pointed his war fan at one of his samurai retainers. “round up da boyz, we gettin’ the tribes back together and gettin’ a proper waaagh goin’ again.”

Alright, time to get the ball rolling on my samurai orks army. or not really. The mini's still need to arrive in the mail, and the store I need to get the scratchbuilding supplies is closed for labor day. So today I'm working out some other stuff, like paint scheme. I've got a sample of an idea:

BTW I'm talking about the blue guy, not the nun with the spear (naginata to be precise)
If you're familiar with the Total War series it's the Hojo Clan color scheme. I'm using a mixture of regular ork bitz and parts from the Wargames Factory Rising Sun series. Here's a rundown of my planed paints:

Armor: Abbadon Black
Cloth: Celdor Sky
Officer's surcoat: khrone red
Ashigaru's straw hat: Tau Light Ocher

And here's a list of what each of the units might be:
Unit list:
HQ
Warboss: Daimyo
Big Mek: Legendary smith
Weirdboy: Onmyoji (yin-yang magician)

Elites
Nobz: samurai
Nob bikers: mounted samurai
Lootaz: arqbusers
Mega nobz: Samurai in O-yoroi
Kommandos: ninja

Troops
Boyz: ashigaru
Grots: peasants

Transports
Trukk: Kobaya landships
Battlewagon: Bune landships

Fast attack
Planes: dragon planes
Stormboyz: rocket pack wako
Bikers: mounted ashigaru

Heavy support
Big guns: cannons

If anyone has any opinions I'd like to hear them before I get started in earnest. and now:

EDIT: Oh yea, I forgot I need to know the measurements of the trukk and the battlewaggon for my landships. If you know their measurements that would help my scratchbuilding (it doesn't need to be complex just the basic measurements of height, width, and length will do.)

Chapter 2: a visit to the mek
"Oi, Mek Amune!" the Daimyo bellowed. "I'z gettin' da waaagh goin' again. Me kagemuha git is gettin' a bunch a boyz togeder an deyz gonna need lots a dakkatanas. make um in da next few days or I'll krump ya!" the mek kept his atention firmly focused on the mass of metal he was working on. "OI you hear me ya deft git?"
"I head ya boss, but Dakkatanas is works a art, I can't make a load of um in a few days. Besides makin' da dakkatanas is Mek Umasa's job, and he'z busy workin' on da new landship."
"well den what am I supposed to arm da boyz wif?"
"I can make some Tangashima shootaz for ya boss, but dat's all I can do in a few days."
the Daimyo snarled. "fine den, da boyz'll have shootaz."

Hello again everyone, I've made a skeleton for the bune landship. I don't know weather I'll make the other landship, I'm not sure if I'll use it in my list. here's some pics:

It's nice and boxy, just like the real thing. It can still be open top, the boyz will stand on the roof and dakka away.

EDIT: Just realized the real thing has the pointed stern on it, the final product will have one.

Chapter 3: Rollcall of Da Boyz
Da boyz were gathered in the muster yard outside the castle. there were over two hundred boyz in addition to Nobzunaga's samurai retainers, now he just needed the kagemusha to return with seven very special samurai. on cue the kagemusha entered with three samurai. "whats dis? you'z supposed to bring me seven samurai. who'z dez gits?"
the lead samurai bowed. "I'z Kembei, dis is me lieutenant Shichroji, and dis is some youf wez picked up on da way called Katashiro."
"so you'z da gitz I sent for? da onez dat saved dat 'umie village last monf?" he quickly counted them. "dere'z only tree of you, where'z de oders?"
the youf spoke up. "Dey'z died livin' up to da code of orkshido in the 'umie village. dey'z wif Gork and Mork now."
The Daimyo went into a rage and kicked one of his grot retainers across the room. "well what'z I supposed to do wif only tree samurai? I gotz over two hundred boyz out dere dat needz inspirational leadership from da legendary seven samurai, an I've only got enouf samurai for maybe a hundred boyz."
Kembei spoke up. "Boss, if I may interject, a small force can often accomplish as much as a large force a boyz wif propa support."

hello again, so the school store doesn't have foamboard. so I need to go bum a ride from a buddy tomorrow to the office supply store. but I do have a rough draft of what I'll be working on:

Daimyo Nobzunaga with a warbike, power Gunbi (that funny fan thing, counts as power claw), cybork body (I'll think of something to model it in the style)
Big Mek Amune with a KFF (he'll be carrying a shrine on his back) and cybork body.
a unit of samurai bikers (the cover save will be from those inflated balloons on their backs) some with dakkatanas (power claws) and some with kanbo (big choopa)
90 or so ashigaru shoota boyz
Samurai Kembei
Samurai Shichroji
Samurai Katashiro
20 or so arcubusers
a dragon jet
some kannons
a suitably samurai ork fortification

then I'll move on to some other stuff like the landships.

EDIT: sorry guys, but the samurai minis just arrived in the mail, and bad news: the samurai and ashigaru heads are half the size of a normal ork boy's. there's no way I can trim down the ork heads to fit the helmets. Don't worry, all is not lost:

WE'Z IS BACK!
those ork minis have been taunting me for too long, and my GS skills have finally reached a point where I can pick up this blog again. I've actually got a couple of da boyz to show you this time:

this blog is back on for the time being while I get these ork minis done, then we'll see where it goes.

Confrontation had a range of goblin ashigaru, iirc. Samurat, I think they were. Might be worth scouring t'internet for what sounds like a very cool project! Also, 54mm edo-armoured samurai with mempo would make great counts-as PA nobs. Subbed!

Thanks, I've had this project banging around in my head for quite some time, and I'm glad to see people enjoying it. anyways I need to write some more fluff for this and actually flesh out the characters, here's some bios on the important ones:
Warboss Orka Nobzunaga: originally named Cadmus he was created at a mechanicus outpost in the mountains of the planet they are currently on. the Mechanicus sought to create an ork infiltrator who would grow at an abnormal rate and take control of ork worlds and turn their efforts to the imperium's ends, and it would have worked. unfortunately the project was terminated by the inquisition and the magos Cadmus considered his "father" was killed. Cadmus escaped by stealing a ship and crashing it into the nearest ork world, where he became a lieutenant under the growing WAAGGH of Warboss Ash-cager. once again fate did not smile on Cadmus, and the WAAGGH crashed on the planet he was created on. now Cadmus, now going by his nickname Nobzunaga for the many nobz under his command, seeks to reunite the WAAGGH to leave the planet and chase after the inquisitor that killed his "father".
Secretly Orka's tusks are actually implants, which he removes in private to allow better communication with humans. he is fluent in both low and high gothic as well as mechanicus code and unlike most orks he is also literate.

I've got quite a few more characters to add: Hikari Rojo (Orka's "sister" a human) Big Mek Amune, Mek Umasa, others.

but for now I've got my first Nob done:

he's got a slugga and a Dakkatana (a counts as power claw)

here's a close up of the Dakkatana (it's basically three sheets of steel hammered together, but the orks believe that they are so potent that they can cut through tanks (very tongue and cheek regarding real katanas and so called "sword aficionados"))

Alright I've got Orka's model I think, plus some fluff:
Warboss Nobzunaga entered his private quarters in his palace, and after sliding the door closed behind him reached into his mouth and unscrewed his tusk implants, placing them in a special bowl next to the door before walking out to the terrace garden. His sister Hikari was there sniffing one of the flowers that had been planted amidst the spore sacks that Orka had spawned. “Kari, I brought a doctor to see you.” ever since the siblings reunited after being separated by the chaos surrounding their father’s death, Hikari had never been seen without a covering of bandages over most of her body, under her kimonos. In the past few days the bandages had begun turning a sickly greenish yellow color, despite the fact that she changed them each night. Orka suspected she had developed an infection, and had fetched one of the last human doctors on the planet to tend to her.
“I don’t need a doctor Cad, I’m fine I swear.”
“you know I can tell when you’re lying to me sis. I don’t know how but your wounds keep growing as the days go by. If you don’t get it treated you’ll wind up looking like a mummy from one of those pen-thrift dreadfulls.”
She spun around and charged at him, screaming: “I don’t need a doctor!” she tried to grapple with him, and she was stronger than he remembered, but it was no use he was a massive ork and she was a simple human. He restrained her with one hand and grabbed her arm with the other. Pulling back her sleeve and ripping off the bandages he exposed the green skin the bandages covered.
“what is this?” it almost looked like a youf’s lime green skin. He grabbed her with both hands. “Kari, what’s going on? I’m your brother, you can trust me. let me help you.”
She slumped out of his grasp and fell into a fetal position on the ground. “you can’t help me, no one can!” she cried.
“what’s wrong? Tell me why you skin is green?”
“it’s not just my skin.” She touched a finger to her eye and removed a large contact lens. Underneath her eye was pure red. “Cad, I’m turning into an ork.”
“what?”
“when the inquisition attacked the lab I was in the genetics laboratory. The stormtroopers tried to shoot me, but they hit a tank of mutagen coded to ork DNA. It splashed all over me, and now it’s turning me into some kind of ork-human hybrid.”
Orka picked up his sister and cradled her in his arms, carrying her back into the palace. She sobbed the entire time as he carried her back to her room. He laid her in her bed and brushed the hair out of her red eyes. “it’s going to be ok Kari, I’ll find some way to fix you, and if I can’t I’ll do everything I can to help you adjust.”
“thanks Cad.”
“now is there anything I can get you?”
“yes, I know the stuff is noxious, but I’ve got this weird craving for fungus brew.”
“I’ll have the grots fetch you some.”

alright now on to Orka's model:

also I'll be using a fully mutated Hikari as my big mek, and all the nobz in the army will be Orka's sons (he has the ability to hold in his spores like you and I can hold going to the bathroom, those spore pods in the garden are all his, an entire garden full of super intelligent orks.)

Great background for the warboss! The plot reminds me a bit the one from Warhammer Online mmo by Mythic but you've made a much better work in making a nice fluffy base for outstanding ork force

On the technical side, if I may, I strongly encourage you to post-process your GS work. I know how hard it is to sculpt strait edges and flat surfaces but without that any gs work is doomed to look like a puffy winter jacket instead of any hard material. After the gs cured you can cut or sand it down to improve the shape.

Keep up!

actually the armor is a soft material, it's made of boiled and lacquered squig leather, and it's darn near impossible to make cuir bouilli take hard lines (I should know, I've worked with the stuff). also I'm almost out of GS, so I may not be able to get much done until I can order some more.

Also Orka wasn't the only result of the ork project, there's one for each class of specialist, here's a list of the others:
Hippocrates: goes by "Doc" his knowledge is the equivalent of a Magos Biologis, but he specializes in more practical applications of medicine rather than the minutia of research.

Apollo: the weirdboy, also known as "the Brain" he is an haruspex, reading the entrails of squigs before any important event. he also is the records keeper for Orka, and he keeps overly meticulous notes on everything to the point that his records are rarely helpful as they must be sifted through for anything relevant.

David: the runtherd and quartermaster, his grots ensure that everything remains functioning. he can't stand the other orks abusing his charges, and has been giving them adrenaline injections to increase their size and strength. also he has introduced a "buddy system" among his grots, and they travel in packs of five for safety.

The Missing Mek: despite the fact that there are only four results of the project the group still refers to itself as "the five" as there was a member that never made it out of his incubation tube. this was the Missing Mek, and the other four always pour a glass of fungus brew for him when they meet before pouring it out onto the ground "because maybe he's down there in a spore sack somewhere". the mutagen that spilled on Kari was actually an attempt to re-create the Missing Mek, and now the ork DNA that is changing her is that of the Mek.

I've got my first mob of boyz done actually, but the glue is still drying. I'll post pics when it dries.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Alright the glue is dry, but photographing 20 orks with my iPhone is giving me fits with the current lighting, I'll need to wait for the sun to set to get the lighting just right. in the meantime here's some more fluff:
Orka had called for his brother Doc to attend to Hikari, and as she slept the two talked. “so Doc, what’s her prognosis?”
“good with the correct treatment, but if we don’t act soon she’ll die.”
“what do you mean?”
Doc pointed to the purple borders of Hikari’s green patches of skin. “see that? Her human side views her new ork genetics as an infection, and it’s fighting it like one. Her body is literally attacking itself. If we don’t intervene and help one side or the other her body will attack itself to death.”
“KARI!” a young man jumped through the paper door and ran over to kneel next to her bed. The man was Takashi, a disgraced samurai who had taken Kari in after the inquisition destroyed the lab. They were close, and for some reason they had both worn matching rings for the past couple of weeks. It was some human custom Orka never understood. “Kari, I came as soon as I heard you were sick.”
Doc smacked Takashi in the back of the head. “Idiot! Don’t you know not to startle the sick. She’s already weak, if you get her excited you could damage her further.” Kari began to spasm and convulse. Doc slapped Takashi again. “see what you did?”
“Doc, what’s happening?” Orka asked.
“it’s just like I told you, her body is attacking itself. we don’t have much time.”
“do you have the reverse mutagen?”
“no, I thought I’d have a few more days, but thanks to Mr. I’m in too much of a hurry to open the door, the only way we can save her is to accelerate the process. Quick, I have a tank of the mutagen in my lab.”
Orka scooped up Kari and the two orks and the human raced to Doc’s lab in the basement of the palace. Kari was stripped down and intubated before being suspended in the tube of green mutagen. Takashi retrieved his bedroll from his bike and set up camp in front of Kari’s tube. Doc and Orka left the human with a grot to get him anything he needed, then gave him the key to lock himself in so as not to be disturbed by any of doc’s late night customers. Takashi fell asleep that night by the green glow of Kari’s tube, and the snoring of Kuko the grot.

(by the way if a splash of the mutagen could do that to Kari, Takashi probably shouldn't be sleeping right next to the tube, if you know where I'm going with this.)
Takashi is going to be my Wazdakka Gutzmek, and the model is going to be wearing an insect inspired helmet. cookie for anyone who catches the reference.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
alright, I've got my first mob of 20 boyz done, led by Mr. Mustache Mempo (that's what I like to call him):

I've also got what was originally supposed to be Takashi's model, but now it's just a nob biker:

also here's just a little shot of the patch of floor where I like to work on modeling to show you what's coming down the pipe:

I'm expecting some major shipments Tuesday including another mob and a battlewagon, as well as Kari's mini. there may be some fluff updates tomorrow morning, so see you then.

alright, I've got some more fluff while I wait for FedEx to show up with my package sometime today:
It was late at night, and Bozco the loota was attempting to pick the lock on Doc’s lab. Doc had all sorts of nice grubbins for Mek Umasa to make him a flashy new deff gun. As he manipulated the tumblers with a piece of wire a crashing and shattering sound came from inside the lab, followed by a sizzling sound and what sounded like a human screaming. “Doc, dat you?” Bozco asked.
The screaming turned to an orcish howl and then the door to the lab burst open, knocking Bozco into the wall. A big meaty green fist grabbed him by the throat and hoisted him up the wall. The thing that had grabbed Bozco was clearly a nob. He had pieces of glass sticking out of him, and in the wounds red blood seeped out. As Bozco watched the red blood excreting from the wounds turned green.
“Takashi, put him down!” standing in the ruined doorway was the naked form of a green vaguely orkish woman.
“sure.” The nob growled. He slugged Bozco in the jaw, knocking him unconscious. Bozco woke up without a single tooth in his mouth.
In the morning Doc came to check on the two and found the door to his lab torn off its hinges, and the tube where Kari had been floating was shattered. Kuko was cowering in the corner of the room. “Kuko, what happened?” Doc demanded.
“Just don’t hit me!” Kuko begged.
“that depends, tell me what happened and maybe I will consider not boxing your ears.”
Kuko cowered again. “alright, ALRIGHT! Last night the woman woke up in the tube. She got scared and smashed the tube and the green stuff got all over the human. He went crazy and started turning green, then he got big and smashed his way out, the woman followed him.”
“see that wasn’t that bad, now clean up this mess!” he pointed to the shattered glass from the tube. Kuko looked at him for a moment before realizing that refusing to clean up the broken glass by hand would probably result in a beating worse than getting a few cuts on his hands.

Doc told Orka, who sent out search parties in the town around the palace.it shouldn’t be hard to find a naked ork woman and a nob in his skivvies. Unfortunetly there was no description beyond what they were wearing, and Orka only found them because he noticed Takashi’s bike outside a bar.
Flanked by three of his nob sons Orka entered the bar and noticed Kari sitting at a table. She was wearing one of her old mechanicus robes with her hood pulled over her head. She was sitting next to a nob wearing armor that by the dazed look in his eyes was deep in his cups. He sat down at the table. “is that Takashi?”
“yea, the only thing I’ve found to calm him down is fungus brew.”
“how are you feeling?”
“fine, it doesn’t hurt anymore, but I have this strange need to build something.”
Takashi drained his mug and yelled at the bartender for another. The bartender went to the keg and found it was empty. Takashi became enraged and lunged at the bartender, triggering the breakout of a bar fight among the patrons of the bar. Some used chairs and bludgeoned each other, others just used old fashioned fisticuffs. Orka and the nobz moved to restrain Takashi, first shooting him in the limbs to weaken him, then using the blunt sides of their dakkatanas to bludgeon him. Orka and the nobz dragged Takashi out of the bar and back to the palace for Doc to examine.

maybe not the "WU TANG KLAN" how about the "WAAAGGH TANG KLAN" but feel free to use any of my ideas they're actually really simple to make. I'll try making a tutorial when I get some parts to work with.

hey all, I was typing up the tutorials and I almost had them done, but then I accidentally closed out of the window and deleted the stuff I typed up until I get over my rage over spending like an hour typing this up then deleting it I'm going to get to work on the stuff in my shipment, but for now you may be able to work out my process by looking at the pics in my gallery in the samurai orks folder.

still trying to find time to make the tutorials, but I've got a lot of work done:

this is the big thing that came yesterday, a battlewagon. I'm still tying to find out how to make it more samurai-y.

this is the shot of both the first boyz mob and the other which I just built. just one more mob to go!

and here's half of the last boyz mob, after I'm done with them it's on to the vehicles.

these are not in my list, but I had some extra weapons torsos and rockit launchers, so I decided to make some Yabasume tank huners, and the burna boy was because I didn't need a mek with my lootas so I made a burna.

also I've come up with another character who will be making an appearance in the fluff: Riden the Lightning (get it ) he is Orka's first born son who was spawned soon after Orka escaped from the inquisition, and left some spores under a peach tree next to a river. the spore pod grew under the peach tree until a flood overtook the river and washed the pod and the tree together down the river. the pod was found by an elderly couple who assumed the pod was a giant peach and tried to eat it, but when they cut open the "peach" an ork jumped out. the elderly couple had no children, and they were getting a bit batty in their old age. so they adopted the ork as their son and named him Momotaro. when the WAAGGH swept through the planet Momotaro convinced a couple mobs of boyz to serve him because he was bigger than they were. thus were formed the Lightning Company, who protected the village of humans by driving any orks nearby away by raiding them. the Lightning Company has recently become a thorn in the side of Orka's trade routes, and their tactics makes Orka suspect that their leader this Riden is somehow a result of the project. he has ordered him brought before him to see just who he is.
EDIT: just did a bit of research into Raiden, and I'm changing a few things with his story: first his name is now spelled Raiden the lightning, and his band of bandits isn't called the Lightning Company anymore, now they're the Eight Thunders Brigade or as the villagers they protect call them "the Yakusa no Ikazuchi Brigade". everything else is the same.

alright I need some input, I've got most of Kari's model done, but I'm not sure about the hair:

should I have her with long hair or should I keep it a short bob?

alright I've got more fluff for now, and I'm headed home for thanksgiving break today so expect more updates sometime tonight.
Takashi was bolted to a table in Doc’s lab. As he howled and screamed trying to break his restraints Orka consulted Doc. “what’s wrong with him, why is he acting like a wild animal?”
“my guess, hormones.”
“hormones?”
“yes, because his mutation was so rapid due to the mutagen entering his bloodstream and metastasizing his body was flooded with ork growth hormones. This in turn caused an increase in aggressiveness and agitation. I’m pumping him full of diuretics to flush the hormones from his system. he should be back to his semi-normal self soon.”
“why didn’t Kari act like this?”
“her mutation was slow, her body had more time to react and fuse with the new ork genetics. Takashi on the other had was overtaken by the ork genetics. There’s little human left in him.”
“can you reverse the process? Make them human again?”
“no, in Kari’s case her human genetics fused with the ork DNA creating something not entirely ork and not entirely human. In the numbskull’s case there’s not enough human left in him to reverse the process.”
Just then Mek Umasa entered the lab. “Ay warboss git, tell yer sister thanks fer gettin me fired!” he yelled.
Orka turned to regard Umasa. “what are you talking about?”
“yer sister, she walks in to da shop last night and starts building a wagon. Next fing you know Mek Amune fires me ‘nd makes her his apprentice.”
“I’ll talk to him and see if I can’t get you reinstated.”

Orka and Doc followed Umasa to the mek’s workshop in the basement of the palace. Kari was there in a grease stained tank top and laborer’s pants, buzzing around a battle wagon in the midst of construction followed by a horde of grot assistants. Mek Amune was standing back observing, occasionally wiping a tear from his eyes. “ain’t she a beut?” he asked the warboss.
“my sister or the wagon?” Orka asked.
“well da wagon of course. Look at it! da wheels each ‘ave a engine of der own so dey don’t foul up if one goes down.”
Kari seemed to notice them. “yep copied the design from the tauros.”
Orka yelled up to Kari: “Sis what are you doing building a wagon?”
“I told you: I needed to build something, and with Takashi the way he is I’ve got all this nervous energy I needed to work out. So I started building and just kept at it.”
“She’s a prodigy ain’t she? I bet ya one day she could out do Orkimedes.” Amune said.
“but what about Mek Umasa?” Orka asked.
“dat talentless hack? He’s old news, so I fired him.”
“talentless! I’z build da best dakkatanas on dis planet!” Umasa protested.
“you know what, Mek Umasa I may have a solution to your unemployment problem. Go talk to my secretary, tell him you’ve been transferred to Project Argo. He’ll arrange for your transport. Just be sure to pack some beach clothes.”
“Fine, beats dealing with dat prick Amune.”

BTW I've got Raiden the Lightning's model done, but I'm going to wait until he makes an appearance in the fluff before I show him.

Ok I lied, I will be showing you Raiden early:

the armor he's wearing is the version of mega armor I will be using for my samurai orks, O-yoroi. fluff wise it's made of chopped up bits of tank armor with a squig leather backing covered in lacquer.

also I've got a Dakkajet done:

it may not look very samurai-y but it's shape is based on the Zero fighters from WW2, also that Project Argo Orka was talking about, it's a fleet of warships to reach the other main continent of the planet, and yes I may be making some warships in the future.

Mostly, on my phone.

I do really like the look of your armour but think it needs flattened down on its facing surfaces. At this stage you could probably slice it flat with a fresh scalpel blade and then smooth the edges where necessary. Just my ¥00.2!

thanks for the advice, but I'm a little worried about screwing up the mini because I don't have the parts right now to make another.when I go to make the mega nobz I'll try that, then go back to Raiden once I've got the process nailed down.

anyways so when I went to my FLGS after I got home they were sold out of buggies, so I got two trukks to make buggies from, and from just one of them I was able to make two types of buggies:

this one is made to look like a M1917 light tank, you've probably seen one before:

the next one is based on the more modern KU50W:

here's what the real thing looks like for comparison:

also Kari's mini wasn't quite WSIWYG, so I re-based her with a grot assistant who is carrying her KFF:

I like that the grot is pointing up as if to say: "neener neener neener, you can't hit me I've got a force field."

also I decided to go with the long hair.
on deck next is a trio of bikers, so watch this space.

Alright I've got some fluff, major changes, the imperium is getting in on the action:

Momotaro was dragged beaten and bruised into the Shogun’s private chambers by two nobz. They dragged him into a room with a large table in the center. At one end sat the Shogun Orka Nobzunaga who in the past three months had conquered the entire southern continent of the planet. Momotaro and his Eight Thunders Brigade had held out the longest by retreating into their mountain village, but now his brigade was scattered and he was captured. Momotaro was dropped at the opposite end of the table from the shogun, with a group of his elite nob sons on either side of the table, a grot placed a cup in front of him and filled it with tea from a kettle. He hoisted himself up to sit at the table. “and here I thought you were going to execute me for being the most prolific bandit around.” He took a sip of the tea, mad cap brew, mildly caffeinated, brewed strong, his favorite.
“on the contrary Mr. Raiden, I believe we have a connection.” The shogun took a sip of his tea. “now, remove your shirt please.”
“what?”
“you heard me, shirt off.” It would be foolish to refuse. He had no armor, no weapons, what more could no shirt hurt? Momotaro did as asked and when he pulled his shirt off the Shogun rose from his seat and walked over to him examining the birthmark shaped like a sun with a skull in it on his right pectoral. “just as I thought.” the shogun removed his own shirt and displayed an identical birthmark on his right pectoral. “you are who I thought you were, my son.”
“I don’t have a father, I came from a peach.” Momotaro protested.
“oh really, did that peach come from the Mt. Jirya valley?”
“no the kenji river.”
“and the Kenji river flows through the Mt. Jirya valley. Face it, you are my son.”
“and what do you want from me?”
“I want you to know that you have a family, and we want you to be a part of it.” he gestured to the nobz around to table. “these are your brothers, you also have four uncles, an aunt and a uncle in law.” He went back to his seat and sipped his tea. “my scouts in the village of Kohna tell me that your adopted parents died recently, and I figured now was a good time to re-connect when you seem so alone in the world.”
Just then Apollo burst into the room. “Brother, the imperium comes!” he yelled. There was the sound of a crash outside, then the sound of bolter fire, followed by more crashes. “the Astates are here!”
The shogun sighed. “we can’t hold this town from astates, begin evacuation to the alpha site. Get everyone you can loaded onto the wagons and get going.”
“but brother, what about you?” Apollo asked.
“we will cover your escape before we take the war copter out, now go!” the shogun turned back to Momotaro. “get down to the armory and grab some armor and a dakkatana, you’re in for the fight of your life!”
Momotaro had grabbed the first suit of armor he could find and sprinted up to the courtyard where his father and his brothers were fighting. He was almost there when he saw the group running the other way towards the motor pool. In pursuit were a group of power armored men in black armor who seemed consumed with rage. “everyone who’s leaving is out!” the shogun yelled. “we’re out of here!” Momotaro stopped in a manner similar to a Terran athletic exercise called a suicide and turned around to run towards the motor pool. When they reached the cavern that served as the palace’s motor pool they ran straight towards a war copter with Kari sitting in the pilot’s seat and the rotors already wound up. the eight orks boarded the helicopter and it began to leave the ground as the power armored men entered the cavern. They cleared the hole in the roof and flew off towards Mt. Jirya where this all began, where the project that created them was located.

also I'm touching up Orka's mini, giving him a suit of O-Yoroi.

ok so I've kind of been distracted getting settled in and dealing with stuff like haircuts and catching up on lost time with family, but I've got quite a bit done:

this is one of my ninja kommandos, the weapon he has is a kusari-fundo, which is basically a chain with two weights on the ends, very orky.

this is mek umasa's mini, Mek amune died in the imperial attack, so Amune has taken over for him.

this is Orka's new armor, and once again I am too nervous to try to flatten out the plates because I can't replace it if I screw up.

these are three of my bikerz, they are actually armed with Chinese chui hammers, because the japanese only have one real mace weapon: the kanbo, and being a two handed weapon the kanbo is not ideal for someone on a bike. also in Mandaren chui means literally "hammer" and there's nothing better for a hammer of wrath attack than something actually named hammer.

also the biker nob you saw earlier will actually be Takashi. I decided the SM bike will make him unique, and giving them to every biker nob in the army will make him stand out less.

right now I'm working on a second dakkajet, battlewagon, and another ten boyz. also I need to catch up with the fluff in my next post so keep watching.

This is an excellent idea. Whilst some of the GS work is a bit blobby, it is looking pretty good!

thanks, I'll admit it is quite blobby, but in my defense I've never really used GS before I started this project, and the only tools I have at my disposal are my ten digits and a Swiss army knife with a dull blade (anything more knife like like the scalpel someone mentioned would get me in trouble at school. even the Swiss army knife is in a grey area.)

I ain't dead! I'm just stuck in the Middle of Nowhere, Ohio with my extended family, and while the lush forest scenery is quite inspiring for painting I unfortunately forgot to bring the Warboss Green and some other colors I need to paint ork skin also some of my boyz may wind up drafted into my cousin's 23rd plastic army men regiment, but a few boyz lost now may mean another player in a few years so it's a noble sacrifice for my boyz to make. anyways I'm trying to get some of the armor and clothes painted, and I would show you, but my camera phone is dead because I left it playing Seven Nation Armies by the White Stripes all night by accident all and all I'm having a great time with my string of bad luck

alright more fluff, because writing fluff is better than watching paint dry:
The war copter landed on the helipad near the top of Mt. Jirya, and the group disembarked. Takashi was waiting for them. He walked up to Kari and they exchanged a kiss. “I never knew that the mountain was hollow.” He told her.
Orka and Kari exchanged a look that told between the siblings: “do you want to tell him or should I?”
“Mt. Jirya isn’t actually a mountain. Long ago this planet was a hive world, and many of the mountains and cities today are actually the former hive cities. That’s why you can’t dig near the cities without hitting the grey crust, or as off-worlders call it: pavement.”
“so you said you and your brother were created here?” Takashi continued to inquire.
Now it was Orka’s turn to speak: “yes, my brothers and I were the result of a project spearheaded by inquisitor Aietius to find a way to infiltrate and pacify orks. There were two magos in the project, each researching different methods. Our father found a way to create an ork with a human brain, creating myself and my brothers.”
“what about the other magos?”
“we don’t know if his projects bore fruit, he had his half of the mountain, we had ours. When Aietius was out maneuvered and declared a heretic the project was attacked and destroyed, and you know the rest of the story. Now what’s the situation?”
“personally we don’t have much in the way of boys or dakka. When the capital fell our vassal bosses went their own way. They’re fighting the imperium separately, but the imperials seem to be looking for something. They’re fortifying their position and only sending out scout planes that our dakka jets keep shooting down. Whatever they’re looking for they won’t be finding it any time soon.”

Meanwhile in the village of Kohna, Momotaro made his way to the fortress in the center of town that served as the base of the eight thunders brigade. Orka had tasked him with moving the people of the village to the nearby mountain for their protection. It was imperial policy to exterminate any subjugated humans in this sector to prevent any undue alien influence. If the imperials found a town under the protection of orks no one would be spared. He saw a rose haired girl whose name he never bothered to learn tending to her cliff top flower garden. He probably should learn her name because she was his go-between for his second in command, a female ork known as Morka. After his encounter with Aunt Kari he wondered if Morka had at one point been human, and he would ask her about that. “hey…” he snapped his fingers for a moment trying to remember her name.
She answered his unasked question: “it’s Sakura, and if you’re looking for Morka I’ll go get her.” the girl ran off out of Momotaro’s vision, and a few seconds later a gust of wind blew her pink kimono over the cliff. Momotaro sighed, humans, they were a strange lot, and it was best not to ask questions about their individual peculiarities.

hello again all, I've decided to expand my army into three armies: a footslogging army led by Raiden and Morka, a battlewagon army led by Orka, and a biker list led by Takashi and Kari.
one of the things that will be in the footslogging list is a unit of stormboyz, and I found an unopened box of them in my basement. I've made them into a unit of wokou, of which I've only had the energy after a big thanksgiving meal and a day of travel to make one of the grunts and my Zagstuk: Prince Yamamoto.

this is the basic grunts, in the fluff as in history they are mostly made up of orks not born on the planet, many of them came with WAAGGH Ash Cager and their leader was later killed by Prince Yamamoto, who took over the stormboyz unit as his own personal goon squad.

and here's the prince himself. I tried to sculpt the stereotypical "hot blooded sideburns" you see in those mecha shows. I'll expand his fluff tomorrow, but for now I need some sleep.
