Subject: 2000 Point DoC "Fatescreamer" List

Here is a list that I have been messing around with:
Fateweaver, Oracle of Tzeentch – 333
9x Flamers of Tzeentch – 207
9x Flamers of Tzeentch – 207
9x Flamers of Tzeentch – 207
5x Plaguebearers of Nurgle – 75
5x Plaguebearers of Nurgle – 75
5x Plaguebearers of Nurgle – 75
5x Plaguebearers of Nurgle – 75
9x Screamers of Tzeentch – 225
9x Screamers of Tzeentch – 225
9x Screamers of Tzeentch – 225
Aegis Defense Line, comms relay – 70
Total – 1999
I would really like to get the pyrocasters back on the Flamers of Tzeentch, but that is pretty much the only change that I can see. I would like to know what you all think. This list is intended for tournament play.

I would have to agree, the pyrocasters make your units MUCH more survivable with lookout sir wound shenanigans.
My suggestion:
Drop one screamer, give a pyrocaster to each squad of flamers, and give noxious touch to one unit of plaguebearers.
How are you running Fateweaver? Keeping him over the screamers?
For the points, you could drop him, put in a couple of tzeentch heralds on discs to go with your flamers, and beef up your plaguebearer squads a model or two per squad, making them that much more survivable. I believe this would actually make your army more survivable overall, with the 2+ lookout sirs on the flamers, and the larger squads of t5 FNP troops for them to shoot through.

Do not make any changes to this list. Local player is undefeated with it.

Look Out, Sir! shenanigans are (mostly) dead with the latest FAQ. No longer can you spread wounds around (they all must go on model closest to the character).
On the upside, sephiroth, there are few compelling reasons to want those Pyrocasters any longer. Very nasty looking list, I think I'm taking something similar to Feast of Blades.

The FAQs that came out today changed the LOS rules a bit. I think that the wounds that are pushed off the character have to be allocated to the closest model instead of letting the model's owner pick. So, while you can maybe do some games with wound allocation, it's not as good as it was.
I think I'm going to stick to FMCs. I liked them better anyway, and they got buffed by the FAQs.

Look out sir may not be as good as it was, but, with wound allocation, if there are multiple models the same distance, the owning player picks who gets them. Keep 4 flamers at 2" from your herald, you will still get to do 4 look out sirs before losing a model, shift them around next movement phase to put the guys with only a single wound left away, and the spare wounds in to the 2" bubble.
There are still ways to make it work, just a bit trickier and can't soak quite as many wounds.

I am looking to buy the models for this list tomorrow. Does anyone have any suggestions for the list?

You could drop the herald and buy equal points in flamers and survive more wounds. Simple without all the re-aligning models shenanigans.
Just my 2 cents.
Also i like the list. I run an almost exactly similar list with 2 DPs. It's basically the list that almost won Nick Nanavati the NOVA Open (came in second place). But honestly i have always wondered what would happen if i dropped the two FMCs and took this exact list. Not sure if it would be beneficial or not

I have thought a lot about the Flying monstrous creatures. I will probably by two daemon princes, and maybe a lord of change, later. For now, I think that this is a very effective list.
Does anyone else have any comments?

At 2000 pts, your troop choices are a little weak. In objective missions, you may often wind up playing for a draw if you're up against a clever opponent. Flyer-based lists are especially tricky: they can spend all day focusing on your troops, while there's little you can do to theirs (say, 4x5 Warriors in Night Scythes).
I'm playing almost the same list now, with 3 less Screamers and 5 more Plaguebearers. 3x8 Screamers are still more than enough, and the extra troops help a lot. Not sure if they're better used beefing up the existing 4x5 Plagues, or as a separate 5-man unit. Either way, those few extra scoring bodies have made all the difference for me several times now, while I've rarely missed the 3 extra Screamers.

Agreed about the flyers. With the FAQ adding skyfire to FMCs, it makes them so much better and gives us a way to deal with flyer spam.

Does anyone else have any comments? IMO, a Lord of Change is a better addition to the list than a Prince. But neither are really necessary. LoC is really nice for any missions where points will hang on your Warlord surviving. Fateweaver will frequently be killed before a game ends, but killing Fateweaver and then killing a LoC (or killing a LoC in Fateweaver's bubble) is a tall order. I just wouldn't take any upgrades on the LoC---you pay too much for too little. And even barebones, a LoC is still really expensive. Probably not worth the 10 Screamers or ~11 Flamers he would replace. Meanwhile, a Bolt Prince is even less point efficient.
I'd start considering more FMCs at 2500 pts, but at 2000 I think more bodies (Flamers, Screamers, Plagues) will be a better investment.

I really appreciate the feedback. I think that for now I will try the max screamers and flamers, and if I find that I need more plaguebearers, then I will add them.
I could drop the aegis defense line and pick up an extra plaguebearer for each unit. What are your thoughts on that?
