I have way too much. Just told my wife I'm going to try to stick to current projects instead of starting new ones. At least for a while. Will see how it goes!

Oh deary, deary me.

Some people seem to be bragging about how much spare cash they have...
'Well I can afford to spend £1000s on minatures and just let them sit on my shelf...'
(GW plc prime demoghraphic...far more money than sense.lol)

I NEVER have spent more than £50 on minatures before painting them up.
Currently painting up 2 teams fopr Blood Bowl.
(I shall not post up pics as my painting is decidedly 'average'...)

Do you spend money on models regularly? You said you buy as you go.

Well I don't. Instead I design my army list, think out the modelling designs, and then save up the money to buy the entire thing all at once, so that when I start building it, I have every piece I need for cross kit conversions and such.

As such, I buy about once a year, doing all my shopping in a single large order that saves me money on shipping. I don't ever buy flavor of the month items, and I tend to wait until all release waves are out before deciding to start a new army.

This has absolutely nothing to do with showing off disposable income. Many of us have ambitious ideas that we either are building up to, or we end up not having the time to get them done.

And I'm sure some of us buy things we don't need currently but might in the future at the current prices, lest they be raised(which they will) before we start on that project.

I bought all my SM tanks a month before the price hike this year, and I won't start that project for at least another 6 months. But I saved money.

Well, yes, I can, but that's not the point. Frankly, I WISH I didn't have this kind of backlog. The problem is that free time to money is a zero-sum until you get to insanely large values of money. As a result, I've gotten to the point where I have more money, but less free time to paint. Most of my stuff was purchased about the time that money increased, sending free time spiraling into the ground. I'm gonna get there, just not today.

Also, something to consider, if you're buying GW one way or the other, and GW continues to increase their prices faster than inflation, you're still making the wiser business decision.

Hi again.
IF the post reads here is my current 2000pt army I have planned/bought.
And here is what I have assembled .
And here is what I have painted.

Then thats IS sensible and NOT bragging.

But when its just 'here is an even longer list than yours and loads more ££££ spent.'
It seems like bragging on how much cash you have spent of stuff you have no motivation/time to do anything with.IMO.

I am not a collector. I am a gamer.
I buy stuff to use in games.
I have bought complete armies in one go .(But paint up what I have bought before buying more stuff.)

My hobby is playing games, with buying building and painting as an enjoyable hobbies that support my main hobby.

(Some people seem to have a hobby that is mainly buying Citadel minatures. )

I have a good number of models that are not for my armies that I collect and intend to paint when I have time. And in all of those cases I bought them now either because they are OOP or because they are already expensive enough and I don't want to spend even more when I do have the time to paint them.

Well, that's just, like... your opinion man.

I am a collector and painter, which I've been doing since 1986. I haven't gamed in years, at least 10 if I recall my last game day correctly. When I have money to round out my collections, I buy. When I don't have money, I don't buy. I believe my Wishlist from FW is somehwere around the $10k mark, but I will buy it down over time.

The irony of your post is that is smacks of the same "I'm better than you because I do X and you do Y." that you are accusing others of.

I own more games, books, cards, paints, and minis than a small FLGS.

I also work 40 hours a week, go to school full time online, have 2 sons, and a wife that works 3rd shift. So I'm quite busy with life and paint when I can to take a break. I like to read game fluff and rules. I like to look at game art. These are my hobbies and I enjoy them.

I do what I enjoy, you seem to do the same. It just happens that our paths cross here.

No need to get uppity or read too much into others list, comments, etc.

@ TalonZahn.
Yup just my opinion.
I have expressed mine ,and you have expressed yours.

But the...' here is a massive list of stuff, I say have ,but say I have not painted yet....'

Type post appears to have stopped.

Spend your cash on what makes you happy.

My point is buying building, painting and gaming with minatures gives you more 'bang for you buck' , than just buying minatures.

The eye of terror

I think the biggest piece in the pile of shame would be the fourty diaz seekers and the seventy plus diaz daemonettes, but to list it all would probably terrify me.

You know there's a bit of a problem when you're working out what to take for an apoc game and the other's decide you should bring maelstrom of gore. Then you look in the bits box, get back on skype and tell them it won't be a problem cause there's about 40 zerkers sat in the box unbuilt in there.

All of this adds up to why I haven't actually bought anything for the new chaos dex just yet unless dark vengeance counts!

I shudder that the thought of the current market value of those Diaz daemonettes.

Please tell me you bought them years ago.

A mix of years ago and auctions ending at weird times or ungodly hours, or terrifyingly enough included in a mislabelled job lot in the 'general toys' type section! Never paid more than £5 each though mostly less.

Edit: I should clarify I meant £5 each on the seekers! The Daemonettes come in at less than that or I'd also be terrified!

Indeed, current Ebay prices have Diaz infantry at $6.8ea right now.

So you have about $475 worth of OOP sexiness just hanging out.

Good Lord.

I have been ravenously assembling lots of new CSM and Demons models, but thus far 20 Bloodletters and now 2 Bloodcrushers are added to the list for untouched. Not for long, though, I already have enough assembled for an 1850 army .
