I've had a similar idea. If I had the sculpting know-how, I'd probably have tried it by now; I don't know if it's technically feasible at a low price point, but something like a sprue with multiple heads, two torsos (for gender), legs and different clothes and accessories would be really cool. A "build your own mini" set with the bonus that it comes with tons of bits for your other duders.

What I'd really want to see, though, is a plastic kit for sahagin, those fish men of the deeps that keep playing bit roles in D+D worlds. A larger kit with the hulking, four-armed mutants would be very much appreciated, too. I've been using Privateer's Bog Trogs, but they don't quite capture the bug-eyed alien feel that I want, and I've never seen a good kit that I could work into the large, four-armed varieties.

I think you'd have to make a separate kit for genders. I think the sheer number of sprues needed is why this has never taken off.

There was an old line of 3 stage figures that took your warrior/wizard/whatever from scrub to demi-god... I wonder if that could be realized in plastic.

This weekend I'm painting for the first time in over a year. 100+ necromunda guys I'm turning into a guard army (which I will never ever use).

They are so much fun to paint. They have so much character. the faces are just incredible, they youths actually look younger than the gangers, they're not just shorter.

Why can't someone make something like them. In plastic. With a ton of options?

Some things that GW could do with the plastics are sprues of weapons and accessories for each race with a few unique heads, bodies and legs for converting characters.

Plastic Star Wars sets would sell by the truck load; but I think the best bet would be generic, multi-part civilians with lots of accessories, including weapons. These would be perfect for everything from cultists in 40k all the way through to civvies and survivors in any other game system.

that was a popular pick on Wargames Factory before the change in owners. The suggestion was a sprue of generic civilians in pseudo military gear with enough heads to make survivalists, terrorists, criminals, insurgents or whatever. Then another sprue of weapons. I remember a long debate about whether or not a chainsaw was appropriate.

But it never happened...

Yeah, seconding this.

In terms of GW kits, I'd buy the hell out of decent upgrade sets for different traitor legions. Hell, I'd buy them in finecast as long as they were good.

Also, call it a boring dream plastic release if you want, but the thing GW could release that would make me happiest would be a redesigned CSM squad box with the new chaos aesthetic and design elements. I'd buy those like an addict. I'd really love a havoc kit along the lines of SM devastators, too.

Outside GW, I really want to see more viking-style fantasy miniatures.

Did you know? The Reach belongs to the Forsworn.

I'm not even a DnD player and I would purchase kits like this, you could make kits for each class, and have (at least) 2 sprues of extras (or extras available in separate sprues) with scrolls, pouches, equipment, loaves of bread, cloaks, hats, etc on them. Kind of like how GW (and most other mini companies) used to make minis with separate weapons (remember how you got a space marine captain in a blister, with a 'space marine weapons sprue' containing a Bolter, BP, chainsword, PW, PF that you glued to the mini's hand.

Additional sprues containing suitably magic-looking weapons, extra equipment, additional heads etc could be available for those who wanted them (think 'mordheim accessory sprue').

I built a whole city from their Gothic building kits, you get about twice as much stuff as you do in the Cities of Death kits, and since it's intact you can ruin it to your liking rather than have pre-ruined buildings.

I want plastic independent and special characters. There's no reason to do finecast. The quality of the DV starter set shows they can do awesome miniatures in just plastic. The Librarian, Chaos Lord, and Chaplain are all awesome. The only thing holding the Captain back is the weird pose. Seriously, if they just stopped using finecast and made plastic ICs, I would be extremely happy.
