Hey Guys!

I'm working on a design for a 4 by 6 sci fi building. The plan is to get it cut out on a laser. The black areas will be engraved.

Thoughts?

What are they going to be made of? Yeah it does look generic scifi so should get plenty of use.
I just bought micro art studio doors and glued them to some futurey looking electrical junction boxes

1/8 inch MDF, with some luck I should get it cut early next week. I'll post more pic when I get it cut.

Thanks for the feed back

I finally got the building cut and put together. I went with a very minimalist / utilitarian design

I also have some other designs that I did.

These are prototypes for an interlocking puzzle piece design that I've come up with. The idea is to make it so the terrain can be taken apart for storage and easy transport, as well as being able to build different buildings by adding pieces and / or mixing styles.

Here is a Tudor Design

And here it is disassembled

And here it is with some pieces from a stone design mixed in

You have some great work there. Are these going up for sale somewhere?

Nice. Do you laser them yourself or use a service?

Do you have a service you would suggest?
(assuming you don't want to give away any trade secrets...).

thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys! I will probably be doing a kickstarter to raise $ for a laser. To get these done I found a place here in Atlanta http://www.engineerable.com/design/laser-cutter-engraver-rental/ that rent's laser time.

Had a look at the gallery, as I said before, it's very nice work. I notice that alot of your buildings use a double layer construction that hides the puzzle-style joins.

An excellent idea!

Thanks! All the buildings will have the interlocking puzzle pieces, the ones with out are just some prototypes to make sure I had the exterior design down like I wanted it.

Some people have been asking how well MDF takes paint, and how well the detail will show up, so although I don't paint well, I painted up the Gothic ruin. You can see the updated project here http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1141913215/impudent-mortals-gaming-terrain with more pictures on Facebook here http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.403828419671479.89078.385343151520006&type=1&l=b20f38eefe
