He's not an exclusive or limited miniature. None of the Primarchs will be.
He will be for sale through Forge World probably in late October/November, there just will be a limited quantity of them available at GD UK as a "prerelease".

Does anyone else find it odd that he's killing members of his own legion as he rushes through? I get that's part of the aesthetic of the World Eaters... but.... still find it weird. Most of the Primaches (from HH novels that I've read) seem to refer to their legions as almost like a fatherly figure... idk

It's from the timeframe where the Traitor Primarchs are "cleansing" their ranks of Loyalists.
The troops who were sent down to the surface were all those who the Primarchs had identified as Loyalists and handpicked for the fighting, then betrayed.
So yeah, he might as well be killing Orks for all Angron cares at that point.

No reason why you can't just paint the casualties as members of other legions, they don't have to be World Eaters too.

It's also worth noting that apparently the casualties are not "required" to be put onto the model.
If it were me buying Angron, I'd leave them off as the base is busy enough as is.

The model looks absolutly amazing, and definatly going to be looking at starting a pre-heresy army, however the price tag of £50 for the one character has given me cause to pause!

Even though I'm starting a post-Heresy world eaters army, it'll be added to my collection simply as a display peice. They all will be. If they actually do a daemonic Angron, I'll be happy as a pig in gak.

Even for a character like that I would say that £20-25 would be tops, some of Forgeworlds other larger single figures are £15. It's a single figure, well there are some dying marines but they are decoration. The £50 price tag is absurd even if you do get a fancy box. It's just exploiting people's desire to have official figures of these characters, I was holding off buying things from Scibor and the like, because their £20 figures are salty enough, to see what FW's offering would be like but that's a joke price.

And you certainly don't have to pay for them. But they know their buyer base. Just look at the LE version of the Chaos codex. Sold out in hours. It was what, about 40% more for a silver inlaid cover and an attached ribbon bookmark? Some people will whine on message boards. Lots of people will pay those prices for an awesome fig.

Agreed. The price tag is absurd even by FW's standards, not to mention the book being priced at £70 too.

A guy had one I my local store yesterday. The base is a 40mm one inside a 60mm display one, so he can be removed from it for gameplay purposes.

I'm not sure why, even if you consider the marines decoration they still cost money to produce and the whole thing still costs money to design and sculpt.
As for the book, I'm amused that people actually think that's a high price for a book. I guess you can tell who's never had to buy a science or engineering textbook?

So now we're comparing wargaming products to science and engineering ones? Hows about we compare like for like? I mean my hobby of wargaming costs a pittince compared to my other hobby of refining uranium in my back garden so FW's prices are not bad.

What? A book is a book. £70 for a full colour, hardback (leatherbound!) book is not an unusual price. It's actually a damn good price. You ought stick your head inside a regular bookshop one day and look at any number of engineering, art or science text books.

My wife works in a bookshop and has worked for a printer so I have a pretty good idea of the costs behind these things.
What's the print run on these? Some academic books have ludicrous prices but that's actually a source of criticism, it's not some benchmark thats acceptable. Anyway, academic texts require a huge amount of research and are big collaborative efforts, a very different task to largely fictional pieces.
Shame really, because some of Black Library's output is very reasonably priced by comparison.

Text books are, as mentioned, a poor comparison. For instance a friend of mine has just started an educational psychology degree. One of the required texts is printed to order, as only a few dozen are needed, almost exclusively by people doing the course she's studying, each year. The cost? £80 I dread to think hoe many hundreds or even thousands of copiers Betrayal has shifted already.
A fairer comparison is perhaps the coffee table type photography books. They are produced to a very high standard, but on the odd occasion ive looked at such things they tend to top out at about £50.
I've said before, the prices won't stop me buying anything, but if the models and books were perhaps a third cheaper I'd be collecting it all, as it stands I will only buy what is relevant to my own collection and interest.

No, we're comparing books to books. The simple fact is that printing large hardcover books costs a lot of money, and FW's price for the book is actually cheaper than other large hardcover books. I suspect that most of the people complaining about the high cost of FW books haven't actually bought large hardcover books in other areas and just don't realize how expensive they are.
Howard A Treesong wrote:Anyway, academic texts require a huge amount of research and are big collaborative efforts, a very different task to largely fictional pieces.
Not really. Once you make the first edition of the book the research is done, and all that's left is changing a few practice problems each year to kill off the used book market and keep your sales going. And even when you look at large hardcover books in other areas that don't require tons of research you find that they're really expensive.

Here's the thing...a lot of people will buy the miniature just to paint and display. $80 U.S. is expensive..but when you consider that this is something that those collectors have been waiting for a long time...and they might not be buying a whole army..$80 is not that much really.

Well, if you're going with the FW colour scheme they did, it's not hard at all. It's mostly metallics, which a few washes and drybrushes will work well on. Whats left can easily be done with a little care.
