What a mess. So much detail that everything is muddied by it. Poses and integrated bases make them look like the satanic cousins of green army men. And the proportions! They make GW's look like a doctor's anatomical diagrams in comparison.

Ah c'mon. Give the newcomer a chance. This is the first work of one guy alone. It's normal the first product ain't a giga success. Remember the first GW miniatures ? The very first models ? Since then there's been progress. Plus these are just previews. Wait for the final result (paintend and all) to judge it harshly.

It's really not. What's normal is that if your first sculpts aren't of a reasonable quality, you don't try to sell them.

Yes... and that progress was industry-wide. The very first GW models were reasonable compared to the standard of that time. Standards change.
Plus these are just previews. Wait for the final result (paintend and all) to judge it harshly.
Paint isn't going to fix whacky proportions and anatomy. If these were just presented as a first sculpt, an exercise for a beginner sculptor, they would be a credible effort. There's some creativity in there, and while he's gone a little too far on some of them he's at least tried to put some variety into the poses.
But as a commercial product in 2012? They're not going to sell. I would recommend that the sculptor spends a bit of time with some anatomy books, and churns through a few more iterations of these before trying to sell them to people. And maybe talks to a few people outside his group of immediate friends about the names...

Not when you are trying to sell these for a game line.
I don't even want to buy one, why would I buy a whole army, they do not even fit together in one unit, let alone a table top game line.
Someone is asking for people to pay for this. You get what you get when you put it out there. The "Industry" is harsh, as well. You put out something like this as a game line- You are going to get crushed, that is it in a nutshell.
as for the final result, let me guess- paint it black and silver, and add in a highlighted wash? I'm sorry, but the market is really fat right now. I don't want to be the bad guy, but I won't be putting in hard earned coin for a miniatures line.
Warzone, as was already was pointed out was a very very close comparison to these guys. They would have been perfect for the lead "Bad guys", called the Dark Legion, or in the old version of VOID, but as far as these guys go, the issue that these guys has is pointed out.
- They lack focus. ( Yes, the stars are right, but not right for these guys. They supposed to be devils? monsters, or a big pile of squiggly goo- they have lost the "OH, SHINY!" factor in the sheer detail. Too much is bad. Not enough is plain.
What exactly are these supposed to be?
- They are all one piece sculpts. One piece sculpts to me say- board game, one-off, or meeple. If you are going to take the time to sculpt something, don't try to take shortcuts, and think that it is doing the sculpt service. making the sculpt part of the base removed an opportunity to do more with those then just put out a bunch of sculpts. The option is taken away from someone to use these figures in any other way that could be used, and removes the added sculpting opportunity of making some custom resin base jobs that could have added to the overall appearance.
- The style is exactly a step back in the current market. With the talent pool that is out there, a sculptor had better step up their game if they want to compete. GW, Reaper, MANTIC, Privateer Press, and any of the many independents out there that are doing their thing have pushed the quality envelope higher then "Last years" model. These might have been acceptable in the eighties, but in the day of CAD, experience of the past, and the current state of gaming- GW is the past, and is not the only game in town anymore.
Now I don't want to be the bearer of the obvious, but the criticism I have here is exactly my own opinion, and I do not want to be a TFG, but in the particular figures in the rough, I see a lot of potential in the sculpts that I hope improves, and improves fast.
These are a very good first step, but I hope it isn't the last, and continues to improve, because I really like the detail that has been put into the particular sculpts, I just think that it is a little too much into an odd scale that loses its purpose and takes away from the whole project.
And Finally....."Corpsehammer"? Seriously?  What exactly are these figures supposed to be? I read through the website, and I was completely confused as to what the line is? What, other then a bunch of squigs are the choices of armies?
Whats so special about those factions? Why would I want to buy them? What is different about the one guy then the others?
Like I said, there is some criticism, but I'm not trying to get personal over it. I hope it is put out there and not overly harshly taken.

Wow. Didn't mean to start an argument, really. I apologize if my comments came across as overly harsh, but they still stand. The art direction for this line needs a lot of work before going to market. For example, how many factions are present in the pictures above? The unit names seem to indicate two, but visually, they all seem like the same faction, if not the same unit. There is a hint of talent here, and judging from the volume of material on the website, passion for making this line work, but until I see something of quality, I won't be buying in.
P.S. Corpsehammer is just too ridiculous of a name to take seriously.

So here's a couple of my critiques:
Even in the same unit, you have different base sizes. Right off the start, this has me concerned.
The units themselves, as has been stated, are overly busy. But what are they? If they're aliens, then he gets a pass for anatomy. If human, then there's some concerns to be addressed here.
I would suggest the sculptor try to get into some of the poses he has his miniatures standing in to see just how feasible or not it would be to move quickly from that position, or if your legs feel like they're going to break if you move. I'm seeing far more of the latter.
Why are the weapons so massively huge compared to the bodies? We're talking swords/cleavers literally bigger in breadth and height than most figures' entire torso, and wielding it one handed.
Now then, some positives:
There is a display of some talent here, as well as a passion for what they want to do. But the sculptor needs to take a step back, realize he's in a market that's quite saturated with a large number of games. He needs to ensure he'll stand out and be desirable. He definitely is doing the former, but certainly not the latter. These figures are retro in every bad way, and he simply cannot continue in this vein in the current state of the hobby.
I urge him to step back and try looking at his work with new eyes, and seeing what he can do to accomplish these tasks. I wish him the best, just right now he hasn't caught my interest.

After looking at the kickstarter campaign i just don't think this is going to be successful, the initial goal is just way too high for what is being offered. If it was at the 3-5k mark i could see it being successful with room to grow from there, but at almost 15k i think this is nothing more than a pipe dream.
I am somewhat interested in the Necrovanum Berserker models myself, i think they would make some great bio-mech aliens despite the disco and bowling poses they're in.
The postage costs are the only reason why im not going to bother pledging to this campaign, the postage isn't included in the base pledges at all and is pretty extreme at the low levels. With it costing $8 for US and $15 ROW to have even the lone $14 kickstarter exclusive model posted to you.

And no stretch goals either, it seems. It does say there are 47 more minis ready to be produced after this initial offering gets funded but that he was mainly concerned with getting these out there as quickly as possible so there wouldn't be any stretch goals. So as far as I can tell, if you're not a fan of what's on display (and it doesn't seem many are) then there's really no incentive to pledge.
At least the logo looks bad-ass...even though the name is still kinda silly. This might be a stupid question but what is a "corpse hammer", anyway? I find myself agreeing with Grot 6 a lot, I'm just not really sure what these guys are, and what all of this really is. I briefly read what little "fluff" material there was on the website and I'm still lost.

Those closeup shots show a LOT of detail. They seriously need to have a good painter produce some samples. Some of them look like they could look really cool with the right paint job. As it stands, at first glance they're like compacted spaghetti monsters posing at the disco.

The graphic design work is pretty good. The name is somewhat nonsensical, but I can live with that.
The miniatures are atrocious though. Anatomy? Non-existent. Posing? Extremely poorly thought out. Seriously, try a few. Just try not to break your ankles when you do. Detail? Various blobs stuck on in a seemingly random fashion.
No. Just no.
I think you could have a good idea here but you really should have shown the sculpts around to people other than close friends or family, gotten some critique and revised them. Then repeat, as many times as necessary, until you have something commercially viable.
Good luck to you, but I don't have a lot of hope for success here.

The Necrovanum stuff has potential, honestly. Yeah, the positioning needs some work, but I think there's enough good there to outweigh the bad. On the other hand, his Remegoth stuff captures all of the worst elements of the old Warzone/Chronopia sculpts from way back when. The poses are boring, the figures look clumsy and the sculpts seem kind of half-assed. All in all, none of these pieces look ready for "prime time," but I would like to see this guy refine his craft a bit and give it another shot. With some refinement, this could turn out to be a tasty bit of grimdark mini goodness.

Beastsofwar still has some pictures of the models on their website, they were pretty rough. I didn't think the Necrovanum models were that bad though, but i strongly disliked the Remegoth models with their Churro thighs...

Other than featuring 'Hammer' in the name what exactly was this knocking off?
From what i've seen of the Corpse hammer range the models have no resemblance to anything GW has ever produced, if anything the range is more similar in style to some of the old VOID and Warzone miniatures.
