The minis look pretty good, but the illustrations are a bit wanting...

I'm not sold on their handling of the kickstarter. Some of the language is very reactionary, and the "I get to go first" coin seems a bit tacky...

Gotta have money to risk money. A lot of these start ups dont. I'd rather see quality models put into production through crowd funding than not at all, and I must say I'm quite smitten with that Cyclops and the Athena model.

I actually think this is financially smarter than most (doing it this way that is.) If people don't want it, it doesn't get funded. Besides, looks like they already spent money on getting some greens made.

What I'm NOT crazy about is the old D&D Chibis that are on KS. I don't like people making money of the creativity of others.

Anyway, I pledged.

You don't like people making money off the creativity of others but pledged for a KS that's just various historical myths fighting each other?

Not only is it the exact thing you're claiming not to like, but it's an exceedingly overused(Wargods, Age of Empires, Risk Godstorm, etc.) version of it.

This has been argued on both sides, and it is not happening. Because Kickstarters and Indiegogos are far more "newsworthy" than some of the "news" that get's posted on the site.

Exactly!

Anyway, on topic here - I like the compact nature of this game.

And the miniatures shown to date look quite nice too.

IF it gets a bit more... interesting, I might be in!

Not really, but then browsing game sites at work is probably NSFW, given the state of the economy.

There was a topless drawing on the KS page so that's why I suggest the tag. If anything it would probably just generate more traffic to the thread while warning people at work about the content.

I can't get to KS anyways, the whole site is work blocked.

I agree - too much bashing of other people's kickstarters/etc (hint - a lot of people you'll be wanting to support your Kickstarter have likely supported these "other" Kickstarters, so not a great idea to imply that those were ripoffs).

The artwork does suck, hard. But then that Cyclops is a pretty awesome-looking mini. So I don't really care if the concept art is bad if the end result is like that.

I'm a big mythology fan - so I'd really like to see a nice line of minis in that vein. It'd be nice to know what material these are made of, I'm expecting (but hoping against) metal.

Exactly!

Too many times we get 'awesome concept art' and horrible actual miniatures.

And...

Important notice: all models are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Models are made in metal or resin and metal.

This 10x over. Give the folks peddling kickstarters a unified place to post. It helps them, and it helps us.

Very interested in this, mainly because its similar to one of the concepts we had for a miniatures game before we settled on doing Brushfire.

Exactly - for the foreseeable future, they're staying in N&R.

The only things that needs to happen is that they are properly labeled/titled - and as always, don't click on what you don't want to see!

I hope the stretch goals are reached as I'd like to see what they come up with for miniatures for some of the listed potential Mythos.

It might be nice if all the Kickstarters just had a [Kickstarter] tag at the start of the subject to easily identify them. I like them staying in N&R because they really are news. Lots of times the first time we see something is when it shows up in stretch goals and N&R is all about new stuff.

Heck, even the Reaper Kickstarter made it on to mainstream news sites, so I'd say N&R is the right place for them.

Most (all?) of them have "Kickstarter" in the title... without the brackets, but still, it's there already.

Also, Alpharius, wrong quote level, there...

I'm a sucker for anything Norse. I promised myself I was done with mini kickstarters until I got some of my Reaper and Relics stuff painted..... Oh, and my Deep Wars. Damn.... I'm probably in on this one too.

Yeah, but if it was right at the begining of the title people could easily just skip pass it with even less effort. I'm not saying it's a great idea, but it might help those people who are tired of kickstarters and want to skip them.

I don't like the Cyclops simply for the muscle on the arm, doesn't look anything like a muscular arm should, just giant lumps of whatever. I would totally play a Norse army. It'd be cool to see an army of Aztec deities as well.

Seriously? You can't see a difference? Or are you just living up to the quote in your tag line that speaks volumes.

Anyway, for anyone who cares there is a post in the comments section of the KS that puts a little light on future plans.

As for the 30mm figures, glad you asked. All the mortal troops/units will be on 30mm bases. We felt that the Gods and Heroes needed to feel larger than life, much bigger than mortals. In the model plan there are 5 "Mortal" units lined up for each army. Of the 2 that you have seen, the Greeks get: Hoplites, Hoplites with Bows, Spartans, Satyr Herd and Amazons. Norse get: Vikings, Viking Axe Throwers, Berserkers, Draugr (Undead Vikings) and Valkyries. There are 15 different releases planned out for each force that you see a QuickStart box laid out for. I promise you, you will not be disappointed!

Hello,
For me the lack lackluster art is just not making me feel it. I like the cyclops in a chaos sort of way, but Athena looks to be a statue, so I am just not sold on it.

Regards,
Carl

No, spraying three colors on your minis does not count as painted! 5k+

Where is the Mr. Jingles and the Kill-clown Crew?

The figures look good, but need more info on this to make a decision.

Are we looking at a WORLD view of gods? What does the future releases list look like?

IMO, it looks like they rushed this, and are really being a bit pushy.

Don't get me wrong, Comfy Chair has some fun little sculpts, but they are not nessesarily known for reliability.

Watching this one, though. Good looking sculpts so far.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

They get ignored because they don't have an exciting Kickstarter campaign planned. Think of it as marketing.
