And with that latest stretch goal announcement my money has now found a home.

I much prefer big beasts to puny infantry, and those all belong to the 3 factions I've focused on.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

My vision for my Fomoraic is taking shape too.

Might not be able to get it all on this KS, because of funds and unlockables, but I see Mammax and Sronax with Mammox and Sronox and a small human contingent.

I guess I likes me some massive ungulates!

Love the sronox concept! What a big old brutes theyll be.

The sronox doesnt seem to be that much bigger than the sronax. Ive noticed that there doesnt seem to be a lot of consistency between the 'ox' and 'ax's across the formorian beasts.

Gabrax 30mm base - Gabrox 60mm base- similar body structures.
Tarvax 50mm (originally 60mm) base - Tarvox 100mm base - tarvox has an extra set of arms compared to the tarvax.
Mallax 60mm base - Mallox 100mm base - mallox has more animal like body compared to mallax.
Sronax 60mm base - Sronox 80mm base- similar body structures.
Mammax 80mm base - Mammox 120mm base - mammax is biped humanoid, mammox is quadroped
Walvax 60mm base - walvox ?mm base

Didnt Rob once say there were sabretooth cat & boar men for the formoriac as well? They have the Toracx, is there a Torocx?

Update #31

Oct 6 2014

£92,500 - New Kindred Alternate Sorcerers
Comment
1 like

As there's been a flurry of "other kindred" stretch goals and starter hosts, let's have something for the new kindreds - the Atalantes, Érainn and Jutes!

These three - Helmed Hektor, Masked Nuala and Bareheaded Ætulla - are strictly project exclusive and so this will be your only chance to pick them up outside of shows and events. Get a hold of them now!

There'll be another stretch goal to aim for when we reach £85,000... let's make it there guys and gals!

Update #32

£92,500 - Other Kindred Alternate Sorcerers
Comment

Here's a few more alternates; and when these guys are unlocked, most of the Monstrous Infantry Starter Hosts will be unlocked, too! So get pledging guys and girls!

These alternate sorcerers (well, strictly speaking, Vengeful Thelliatiss isn't a sorcerer, but you get the idea) are strictly project exclusive and so this will be your only chance to pick them up outside of shows and events. Get a hold of them now!

No Exchanges!

Please note, we will not exchange any new kindred sorcerer within the starter hosts for these alternate miniatures, so please don't ask!

The reason for not allowing this is simple - logistically it's a nightmare to exchange miniatures and will lead to errors when we get to packing your orders. Of course, we are very sure that other backers will help out with exchanges, and our forums are the perfect place to do so!

There'll be another stretch goal to aim for when we reach £85,000... let's make it there guys and gals!

A new advert update has gone out with this little teaser:

Conjunct XIX, Vivicoct

The question is, where does its head and pincers come from as I don't recognise them from any existing beast. The head looks a bit angler-fish-esque. Could this be the first glimpse of potential sea beasts from Conands underwater realm?

It's also not the first Ysian we've seen with crab claws either.

I like it, and I'm always on the lookout for more DeepWars complimentary figures.

Hey guys, just signed up to ask some questions.

I have been looking at this campaign for a while and still haven't decided if I should back or not.
Is the casting quality really as good as it seems?
I love the look of the Ysians and the Jutes, but I have no idea what I should get after the starters, I was hoping you guys had any tips for me.

The casting quality in the items I have gotten from Mierce kickstarteres has been practically flawless. Best quality resin I have handled.

I have participated in 3 of the Kickstarters and as a result have most of the Norse line in my possession.

The casting really is that good, I must have over 100 of their miniatures and we ate talking minimum mold lines on a couple of models tops. There have been a few times when I have had to green stuff gaps on joints but again this is fairly rare.

I would look at the starters for all the fractions, and check out their website to see the whole range.....I am collecting all the current 8 factions, but I do have a serious resin addiction.

So for the Jutes, you're pretty much looking at the two starters, as thats all we've seen from the line thusfar.

For the Ysians (and Zond, help me here if you'd like):

--I'd honestly get the monstrous and regular infantry starter, and that'll will put you in a really good starting point.
--After the starter, I'd get the flesh moulders or the fat chick (her name escapes me); both are very good with infantry.
--Mantichora is, IMO, a must addition, both for how it plays in game and for how beautiful the model is.
--Druc, the Meat Hulk, would be my second monstrous creature addition.
--And Finally, get you yourself a warlord. Eurelyia is a beautiful model, but she's quite a few points in game so she doesn't see the table a lot for us. I think the Carrowek Mounted/on Foot combo is the way to go.

That should give you a really good army that gives you a lot of diversity in playstyle.

And oh yeah...the casting is superb, as is the customer service.

Dammit, one of the few big gribblies that I wasn't that fussed about.

Now I want one of those too.

Seriously though, I'm not always a fan of the style some of the Mierce artists paint in, but that is ridonkulous and very well observed.

I've got lots from a variety of their KS and it's the consistently the nicest cast resin I've had from any company (it's also an easy resin to work with if you do want to convert as it's solid but does not shatter as you start cutting & trimming)

As to what to get that really depends on what you like the look of although I personally think it's the larger stuff where Mierce really shines (not that their human figures are bad, the monsters are just so impressive)

The starters (monstrous or infantry) on offer here offer the best value by far so I'd advise trying to stick with them if you can

Unless you really like the look of them the Ysian infantry starter is probably the think carefully about as the Swords of Ys are exaggeratedly sexually explicit (which may or may not bother you), and have been sculpted by one of the weaker sculptors Mierce has used (not bad by any means, just not quite as top line as most of the rest), you can make your own mind up under the spoiler below

Spoiler:

The Ysian monstrous starter looks excellent (I'll probably get one of them myself)

A Formoric monstrous infantry starter will let you get some lovely Tarvax (minotaur's) which will also have plenty of use in other fantasy games and RPGs

A Norse monstrous infantry starter will get you big Trolls (pretty much my favourite range mierce do) which again have uses in other games and RPGs

Another to think carefully about is the Khthonian monstrous infantry starter which I love (got most of it already), but the Dawn of Khthon have got very fragile weapon shafts, fine for display but if you plan to game with them you'd probably have to replace them with brass rod or similar

I'm sad my "thats what she said" comment was moderated.

Alpharius, if that was you, I'm reneging on my bounty of gifts

For all the new backers, I'll actually put together some point lists of the starter sets so you can get an idea of what you're looking at.

Give me a few hours.

Okay, kids!

Total point cost is at the bottom. I run all of my demos at around 300 points, and we play good skirmish sized games at 500 points. From there, 1000 points is your next stepping stone, and is, honestly, pretty easy to get to with one or two monsters.

I made all army lists with the leaders using the closest Warchief profile that exists. There are a few I had to guesstimate/fudge because the model costs don't exist yet (Hrokr and Taai-ac, specifically)

I was a little surprised the Brythoniad came in so high, but all in all I really think these starter sets are an amazing way to get into this. You can add/subract a very few models to get to your 500.

I'll follow up after lunch with the Monstrous Starters, and I'll see if I can prod Rob into giving me some previews at the new kindreds point costs.

That's the same size base as Angrislaug as well isn't it? So any who own her, or scale shots with her, should allow for rough extrapolation.

Update #34

£95,000 - Alternate Abhorrents
Comment
3 likes

With £85,000 passed - and Bronn, Cqaa and Aggrakk now unlocked! - we need to give you all something else to aim for. So here it is - the alternate Abhorrents!

These five alternates can be pledged for in a number of different ways, so that anybody who pledged for the originals in Darklands: First Edition II won't have to purchase miniatures they've already got coming.

You can pledge for them either:

individually at £19 per Alternate Abhorrent;
as a unit containing all the alternate Abhorrents, at £80;
as a unit containing all great weapon Abhorrents, at £80;
as a unit containing all two weapon Abhorrents, at £80.

Ysian Abhorrent Monstrous Infantry Starter Host

As we're feeling marvellous today, it should be noted that you can also choose the Abhorrent Unit that will be within your Ysian Abhorrent Monstrous Infantry Starter Host; there'll basically be three different versions on the website which you can select at your leisure!
