Yeah, agreeing with kronk, that's a misconception. Pods drop half on turn 1, so there's not auto loss.

regarding the drop pod comment, everyone will be disappointed if they expect the army bundles to be competitive. GW long ago said they dont care about competitive play, if the bundles contain anything that looks close to competitive, i think it will be by chance

Guys why are you so excited about these? They are just the same miniatures you can buy now but you save around $15 after spending $100 and they never include multi pose infantry. I couldnt be any more "meh" about these "releases". But i admit I'm pretty sour after the chaos dramabeast releases.

"fantastic value" usually means you save $30 or so buying the bundle then the individual components, even though you'd probably not want every model in the bundle anyway....

With GW of late it could be anything from literally just a few dollars to huge savings. Last year's December bundles, HE, Skaven, DE, SM, had a built in discount in the US of about 35%! On the other hand, some of the standing Battalion/Battleforce deals are considerably less since recent price rises. Some of the Apocalypse deals back in 2007-2008 had discounts as deep as 35%-40% and occasionally more. Interesting to see what model ranges are offered and at what price break.

There's big news from the Black Library today - Angel Exterminatus, the latest novel in the Horus Heresy series is now available to advance order, both from the Games Workshop website and as part of an exclusive bundle deal from the Black Library. This stunning hardback novel is the first of a new breed of Horus Heresy books - a chunky tome complete with a gorgeous full-colour dust-jacket, a wrap-around cover featuring the cover art, an afterword from the author, Graham McNeill, and four exclusive pieces of artwork by Karl Richardson to accompany Perturabo's epic quest for the eponymous Angel Exterminatus.

Keen to find out more about Graham's inspiration for the book, both Michael from the Black Library team and Adam from White Dwarf took the opportunity to ask him about his latest novel:

"Angel Exterminatus is a tale of two Primarchs who are just about the last two you'd expect to see working together," begins Graham, "a tale of one's vanity and another's determination to carry out his brother's orders. It's a tale of trust broken, towering egos and a journey into the unknown in search of ultimate power. It's a book that was to be a spiritual sequel to Fulgrim, but ended up being all about Perturabo. Graham had plenty more to say about Angel Exterminatus to both our intrepid reporters. You can read more about Graham's thoughts on Angel Exterminatus on the Black Library blog page now and there is an extensive double-page interview with Graham and a review of the book in November's issue of White Dwarf, which will be out on October 27th.

We were lucky enough to get our hands on a copy of Angel Exterminatus (though only briefly before the librarians took it back) and we were delighted by all the extra features in it. Matt's Imperial Fist was entirely overwhelmed by the size and scale of the book, which is entirely appropriate considering what happens to his Battle Brothers at the start of the novel...

But that's not all from the Black Library vaults. With only three weeks to go until the Black Library Weekender they've announced another exclusive product that will be available on the day - an Alpha Legion t-shirt.
