How often in games do you have something absolutely absurd happen? Whats the funniest thing to happen to you or your opponent in a match lately?

My last match in particular had a good one. My opponent attempted to fire at my Pink Horrors with his Wraithlord only to fail his leadership test for the Changeling and torched his guardians with two templates instead. The guardians then failed the leadership and ran off the board after rolling 12" on their retreat. All in all a pretty bad stroke of luck for my friend but rather funny to think about. The guardians are sitting on the point protected by their Wraithbuddy, only to have him turn around and burn half of them to death. I could see why they ran off.

I had a pretty funny one a couple games ago. I had a unit of 10 cultists charge a terminator and beat him down with a swarm of attacks. The visual of a rag-tag mob of cultists dragging down one of the most elite soldiers in the galaxy without losing a single man was pretty great.

Another good one was during an apocalypse game. My friend and I made a unit using all our HQ choices, dubbed the "cool guy squad". We had 2 sorcerers with gift of chaos and a lord with daemon weapon in the squad (4th edition codex). They got charged by a unit of 30 ork boyz, managed to turn one boy and the nob into spawns that killed a handful. My friend's sorcerer made 11 out of 13 armour saves, and his lord made 9 out of 10 saves. They got overwhelmed the following turn, but they fact that they even survived the initial charge was pretty impressive.

The bike squad that has my Captain in it takes a couple of casualties, rolls 11 for their leadership test, rolls 16 for their fall back distance... they're 15.5 inches from the edge.

A third of my points just gone.

My opponent was gracious enough to apologize, even though he didn't need to.

Railgun fails to kill my broodlord which in turn ate all the Tau

Been there, Chosen and Lord outflank, rolled 11 for leadership after loosing 3 guys, lost 400 points as they ran off the table edge

A lictor jumps out behind a line scout, when it gets the charge it just waves its claws round, allowing the scout to just rifle butt it in the face and kill it without even turning round.

5th edition tournament, KP mission.

I have 7 KP's. My opponent has 5. Last turn.

He aims a Rifleman at what remains of my vet squad - The sarge, along with my librarian and a chaplain, both at 1 wound each as did my best to spread out the wounds along the unit to delay casualties on the vets.

Hits 3.
Wounds all 3.
I roll 1, 1, 1 for Armour Saves.

I facedesked at the time, but now I can't help but chuckle whenever I remember.

Snapshotting a HB and ML at 3 guardsmen on a point, 3 hits, 3 1's for wounding.

Yesterday my friends cultist champion had to challenge my Ork warboss with power klaw. His attacks obviously fail and I start laughing knowing what's to come for the lowly little fella. My warboss hits all 6 of his attacks. Needs 2+ to kill the cultist.

6 ones.

Had a total ork moment.

5 nobz run in to contest an objective in the 2nd to last turn, they were reduced to just 1 in my opponents shooting phase. The nob is forced to go to ground. I tried clearing the eldar unit off the objective with a SAG it scatters right onto the nob killing him lol.

The other time you jusy gotta laugh was also against my bro inlaw. Moved 4 termis onto an objective to contest. My bro moves a wave serpent in on the last turn and out jump 6 howling banshies, they fire their pistols 5 hit 4 wound....I roll 4 1s

4 days ago : my friend's Grey Knights are about to massacre me, his 2 Stormravens having destroyed my last unit that could hit flyers (Lootas.

Suddenly, in order to keep them on the table, he decides to hover with both of them... Less than 12" away from my 2 Battlewagons with Deffrola.

I ram the first one, roll 6 hits, wreck hit... I ram the second one, roll 6 hits, wreck hit... Game over. Needless to say, the look on his face was worth a thousand dollars.

Necrons (me) versus Tyranids.

I'd lost the game, i knew it, my opponent knew it, its turn 3, most of my army is dead, and i have 1 scoring unit left (a necron lord who had been with a unit of warriors) how i got to that position, is not really important.

Throwing caution to the wind, my Necron lord charges into a hive tyrant, with the tyrant guard. MSS goes off, and the HT with his 2 boneswords stabs himself in the eye, and promptly expires, leaving the lord to get flattened by the tyrant guard.

Not one to let something like that get in his way, he picks himself up, and zeroes in on his next target, a tervigon, and sprints into combat, MSS goes off again, and the tervigon starts stabbing itself, and the warscythe adds to the bloodletting, not enough to kill it, and the next round, the tervigon flattens my lord.
He gets up again, and since he has unfinished business, he goes mano a mano with the tervigon again, and kills it. only to get buried by tyrant guard again. miraculously, it seemed to just be a flesh wound, and our intrepid lord gets up again, now turn 6, and the game all but over, the lord decides the only way to win, is to grab the main objective, and steers himself towards it, making it to the objective, he gets gunned down, but shakes off the effects and then a broodlord jumps on him, the duel goes my way, and a third tyranid gribbly decides to gouge its own eyes out and then get chopped up by a warscythe. the last stealer, obviously seeing the writing on the wall, turns tail and runs away, leaving a very battered necron lord, as the sole surviving necron, undisputable master of the battlefield, with only a pair of Fexes and a horde of gaunts charging towards him....

My guardsmen assaulted a unit of ork boyz with nobz and do to unlucky rolling on my opponets half and amazing on my side my guards win only taking two casualties

Over-watch occurs, rapid firing and roll box cars.
Wounding, get a a 5 and a 6, hold my breath unable to believe my luck, and my opponent throws down snake eyes. Over-watch can be a cruel mistress.

Said guardsman has been promoted to the Company Command squad where now he manages to die almost every game, but not without honor.

Best one has to be the Shaken Falcon that rammed the Leman Russ and made both vehicles explode.

I had some of my horrors get charged by a bunch of white scars bikers.

Not only did the horrors win combat but they also ran down the bikes.

3 things come to mind

5th ed

#1 My Rhino gets blasted and my Grey Hunters are forced to disembark. My opponent disembarks his Fire Warriors in rapid fire range and mows down the squad...save one very pissed off guy.

The last grey hunter fires his bolt pistol, kills one. Assault kills two. They can't kill him. The squad breaks and runs off the board. 1 vs 12. It was a sight.

Dire Avengers have been rolling hot that game. 5 Terminators, 3 have stormshields VS 10 Dire Avenegrs.

I bladestorm 27 shots (Exarch has PW/SS).
22 hits
12 wounds
4 dead terminators.

We had a double take after that. How the hell did that happen?

#3 5th ed
Thunderwolf cavalry (3 guys with SS, 1 with TH) tore (and I mean TORE) through 2 5 man squads of Paladins in 1 turn (2 assault phase) each. They barely broke stride as they kept running around mowing everything they came across.

i had a Guardsmen squad and i got Charged by Terminators who killed all but 1 and he rolled Double 1's on his leader ship * facepalm* and he proceded to kill 4/5 Terminators with his Pistol and Chainsword........he died well

My Chaos lord advancing on 3 guardsment to clean an objective, all 3 had lasguns, 1 sgt.

I assault, roll a 1 for my daemon weapon, the guardsmen inflict 2 wounds, both unsaved.

I was less than impressed.

Not as impressive, but never the less:
Had a squad of six stealth suits shoot at a grot gunner group. (6 Burst cannons, 2 Fusion guns) Out of the 20 shots, I only kill one grot. Ok, fine. Let's assault (with TAU?!) 6 stealth suits vs 9 grots. I kill 2 grots in combat, the grots kill 4 of the suits. I proceed to fail leadership with an 11 and get run down.
Moral of the story: Bovine-fish aliens hit like little girls.

So I played 2 small games, not much happen on my 2nd one, but on the first, my oppon ent who was Tau dropped his two drones from his devilfish that was in dangerous (difficult?) terrain, both drones promptly exploded.

10 man termie squad with attached librarian HQ scatters on deep strike 12 inches to clip terrain. I then proceed to roll a 1 on the deep trike mishap table. Goodby 600 points out of my 1850 list. My opponent offered to let me reroll but I refused. I almost beat him 600 points down and that felt better than a win due to my opponent allowing me to reroll.

5 paladins assault an squad of 20 orks on an objective, the orks overwatch. 5 dead paladins.

So I stop my Land Raider right in front of a juicy squad of Fire Warriors during a 5th ed game. Out pours Khorne's chosen, the Khorne Berzerkers, led by a vicious Chaos Lord armed with Bloodfeeder.

They pour shot after shot of bolt pistol fire into the Tau ranks before charging them. I roll for Bloodfeeder's attacks - two 1s! The Chaos Lord, who had already lost a wound, is killed.

The 9 Khorne Berzerkers roll for hits in close combat - a pile of 1s and 2s. All missed! That's like 37 fails!

In response, the Fire Warriors roll all 5s and 6s for both hit rolls and wound rolls.

At the end of the combat, there were 10 dead Khorne followers and 10 very very lucky Fire Warriors.

(This was with Oldcrons) Opponent uses his kroot to more or less bubble wrap the board for outflanking denial. Turn 1 My Necron Lord uses Nightmare Shroud on the kroot on one table edge and they fail their test. For the remainder of the game, like a bunch of lemmings, they ran back towards their table edge only to throw themselves off said edge in a single file line. T'was a beautiful sight that would have made the Pied Piper proud.

Squad of 11 ork boyz and a nob hop out of a truck and get ready to charge a squad of 5 terminators, but decide to shoot the terminators with their pistols. Kill 3, the other two run away...

Back when I used to play in 2nd editon, we're talking somewhere between 94-96, I played in my first tounement. My first opponent puts his Ork Warlord right up in front, and this is in the days where you could have an unmodified save and your regular armor save. My war walker fires its lascannon right at him, hits, wounds and does 12 wounds. He was not happy.

Oldie but a goodie. Back in the day IG tanks could take an upgrade called Crew Escape Mechanism (or something like that) which granted the IG player D3 basic IG when their tank blew up. My 5 man termie squad blows up a Leman Russ only to have 3 pissed IG come out kill 3 with laspistol shots then assault and kill the other 2 termies. It was so hilarious I didn't mind losing the models.
