If you have Imperial trenches, there is a high probability of Imperial standard troops having been there. Makes sense, right?

$190 and sometime in November. Reecius over at Frontline Gaming is taking 25% off pre-orders, so it's only like $120.

Not the only ones who do this. The Adeptus Mechanicus takes the remains of fallen Skitarii/Forge World workers and grinds them up into a paste for resources.

25% off 190 would make it $142.50, not $120. Nice discount, but I'm still not interested.

Frontline's price is $160 not $190. So the 25% discount makes it $120.

It was quoted at $190 originally but I thought that was steep, Frontline would probably know the prices/math better than some guy on the Internet like me though

There's a very short but interesting article with Dave Andrews, the trench designer, in this months white dwarf. It breifly explains reasons behind some of his desicions concerning their design and battlefield use. Such as he imagines them being dropped onto the battlefield by enormous mechanicus landers. Hence why they are above ground. As well as the fact the the submerged trenches he built were to unwieldy being game boards themselves!

Any idea whether these are going to be sold separate?
Cant really imagine paying such a load of money for terrain, though Id love to own a bunker with a short defense line.

Maybe they dropped them right on some Cadian Infantry Regiments too?

Notable for their intense rivalry with the Elysian Drop Troops, the 718th is famous for their dedication in ensuring the servants of the Emperor always have a safe place to hide until the gunfire stops.

I have to admit, this is cool.
I like the looks of it. As a guy who makes terrain, this is an easy (i.e. effort wise) way of getting a cool new piece for the terrain "library' or any place with gaming tables.
However...I do have to say;
Did we need this?
Did we need more imperial terrain?
How about a eldar/de bastion, or a nid aegis line with a gun they can actually fire?
Or even more so, the effort to produce, market and distribute it...its in WD...they could have easily made this the tau flyer (or eldar, or nid, etc.) and its kit.
So yes, I applaud gw for adding to their product mix, however, there are a lot of things they could have already added which already have demand for them...
just my 2 cents.

I hate you guys for calling them the 718th.
That's what I've been spitballing as the designator for my Cadians.
Also:
The "party line" as to why we only see Imperial terrain is that there's a bigger market for it...and "most fights are on Imperial held worlds anyways".

Nids don't have bastions ? They arrive, kill kill kill, like the adeptus they like there paste, and then feth off the rock that used to be called planet.
As for Eldar, the only terrain they should be making for them is Webway gets. Slap on some rules and that should be deadly. There not a static army, why would they ever build a fort ? They know the imperials would just sit back and bomb the feth out of it.
Same goes for tau, it's even stated in there codex that they don't think the same way we do when it comes to defending planets. They despise static warfare, it goes against the fire cast doctrine.
At most I would see a small bunker, I've seen some pretty nice things done.
And remember, half ( if not more ) of 40k players field human armies, let that be traitor or loyalist. Plus they just released a new starter set featuring only humies, and they are releasing yet another MEQ codex.
Despite what we may think, they don't release things completely at random
They will eventually move on to xeno terrain, but that will come with the release of a xeno codex.

The Primer seems pretty comprehensive when it comes to hygiene and a good diet, so I'll go with 'in'. Whether they died and formed a pile, or died while hiding behind a pile of their former comrades big enough to be bulletproof, is another matter entirely.

@mayfist:
1.) All races have buildings as featured in Dawn of War.
2.) Eldar Exodites live on planets and have plenty of buildings. Eldar craftworlds are so large that you can easily fit a battlefield into it with lots of Eldar buildings. If they defend an Exodite world, they will also build defense lines.
3.) Tau have homeworlds full of Tau buildings, They also colonise other planets. Not every battle is on Imperial ground.
4.) Tyranids had official Forge World terrain with rules.
5.) Necrons have tombs and other stuff.
6.) Orks have buildings everywhere.
7.) A big Chaos Star artefact plus giant spikes would be cool, also a big daemonic warp portal, even if it only consists of flames or something.
So there is a lot of potential untapped.

Shame the the Chaos Codex didn't have a unique fortification in it. Do you remember when GW briefly released a terrain piece with the WFB books? I still have the Empire ruined tower, Orc village and Dwarf mine. I did have the Undead graveyard, but it fell to an incident with a hamster. Don't ask!
