UPDATE: I had a huge number of calls and emails from people that had come prior years wanting to get on the waiting list, some actually just sending in money by paypal and hoping for a spot. With that sort of enthusiasm I punted and went back to the drawing board. I really debated the changes, as it mean't a bit more crowded space, and quite a bit of work moving things around from our normal set-up. In the end, I think it's worth it. More people, more fun, more food, more prizes.

-We will be moving the count up to about 48 players. Final total to be decided as I do some measuring and do some permanent store re-arrangements that I had been considering.

-We'll move from 8' tables to 6' tables. A bit more snug, but lets us get those extra tables in.

-The additional people mean a bonus for the first 32. Not only will there be more, and better food, and more prizes, but we are looking to do something to reward the 32 people that signed up originally. More on that later after we get some work done.

- Trophies get better. Prizes get more numerous. My food budget more than doubles, as I can take a larger chunk from the new folks and toss it towards food.

- I contacted the people who had expressed interest and wanted to get a ticket. Of those contacted, we had nearly everyone immediately grab a ticket. We are sitting at 48 confirmed for the tournament, and essentially sold out again. What I'll be working on over the next two weeks is measuring exactly to see how many folks over the 48 I can fit in. If people drop, or I get extra tables, I'll pop those spots up for sale on the website. If folks are really wanting to go you can also just send me a PM or put a comment in this thread, and I'll try to contact people if I have openings.

A two day event with lots of fun, good food, and great prizes.

-This event will be held at our store in the Granite Run Mall. After 20 years in the mall, we've moved up to a much larger location with over 5500 sf. Games will all be held on 8'x4' tables, with lots of elbow room. Food is 20 feet away in the back room along with snacks and bottled water. Or hit Chick Filet, cheesesteaks, or pizza. All about 3 steps away in the mall. After the games, we head down to the bar for a bit of overindulging. The hotel is across the road from the mall, next to a very good diner. This all makes for a very comfortable event.

-Lunch is included. Mike will be making Chili, pulled pork sandwiches, shredded beef sandwiches, and lots of other goodies.

-Custom trophies to take home and show off. If you saw last years, you know how cool these are.

-Lots of prizes, and not just for those winning games. This is always a good event for the store to "clean house". Win all 5 games? Get a trophy! Paint one of the best armies? Get a Trophy! Lose all your games but get your name pulled randomly? Get a Prize!

-Catagories for trophies:

Best overall Imperial and Xenos players.

Best painted Imperial and Xenos Players

2nd and 3rd overall players.

Undefeated in 5 games, and "I was this close to winning it all!" (or 'I lost game 5 to the guy that won it all ).

-Best converted army. (Includes FW armies ).

-anything else we think of between now and then

-Great Scenery. As always, we'll be working on new scenery pieces and tables.

-Theres emphasis on painting and modeling. Sure, bring a hard as nails, in your face army. But make it look pretty too, if you want to score all the points that you can. I'll be posting up the painting rubric later in this thread. It's pretty much the same one as used in prior years, and includes points for basing, display board, conversions, shading, fine detail, banners, etc.

-This year's event is using 2000 pt armies, but only one force org. 5 Games with 3 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. All normal GW codices are fine, and any articles that pop up in White Dwarf.

-All models must be totally painted and based. No bare models on the table, no unfinished projects. (Painted means you used at least 3 colors on the model, and it is completely painted. You also did some sort of basing.) Need motivation getting finished? We'll be holding a couple weekend and all night painting events to encourage you. Food and tasty malt beverages a possibility to keep us going.

Registration is by Paypal in the Events section, or by paying in person at the store.

This event has 32 slots, and more will not be added. Cost is 50 bucks, which includes the food. Sign up through Paypal at http://showcasecomicsandgames.net Go to the Events and Registration page.

or stop by the store and pay in person. If you don't have paypal, you can still use paypal with your credit card.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Jared have you ever meet my wife out of curiousity? If not I will have to have you over for dinner once your cars repaired.

I am extremely excited for this as I have been wanting to hit this event for years now. I am hoping I can finish my Chaos in time but if not Crons it is!

No way to double that, eh? I guess to do so you'd have to rent out space...

I thought about it, but there would have to be some way to know for sure that I had another 32 people interested, and that's nearly impossible to do. Without that committment, I really don't want to move out of the store, even if it was just 40 feet down the hall to a larger space I could rent from the mall. Lots more work involved even in that short of a walk, and quite possibly a worse event, since it won't be as nice of a setup as the gaming area in the store.

I need to make hotel reservations, and can't for the life of me remember the name of the Hotel across the street.

Can any of you locals point me in the right direction?

Okay, disregard. I made reservations at the Quality Inn, I think that was the place. A bit of a dump if I remember correctly, but it's just for a place to crash.

Now all I have to do is get my Iron Warriors Army up from 1500 to 2000 points by February...

Yep, that's the one. Quality Inn, across from the mall, and a bit of a dump, . Does have a good diner next to it. I think under new management, so we can hope for a bit better quality.
