Thought I'd share something I saw at my LGS. Guy had a list of the following (and it was doing fairly well against an IG army):

Game's value was, I think 1500-1750

Typhus
a bucketful of Zombie cultists
3 Hellbrutes w/ 2xPF's
3 Maulerfiends
3 HellDrakes
1 Aegis w/ Quadcannon

pretty much he sat Typhus back manning the Quad with a huge cluster of Zombies surrounding him. The 3 maulerfiends were sent running across the board with the Hellbrutes following. And I think everyone can figure what the Helldrakes were doing.

What do you all think of this type of list with this tactic? Sure not good for games with objectives, but for just the KP... well, it seemed to be doing fairly well

While I am incredibly unfamiliar with the new Chaos Codex isn't that too many Heavy choices?

No, maulerfiends are heavy, hellbrutes are elite, and drakes are fast attack

Nope. Its 3 elites 3 Heavy and 3 Fast.

It's an interesting list, though no ranged weapons on the hellbrutes is a few wasted turns for them not to mention fire frenzy makes them stand still and do nothing.

I'm also not sure if an AV 12 wall is enough armor with all the S7 dakka out there.

The list really needs to present a shooty threat to keep heat off the fiends untill they get into CC. Unfortunately all the shooty stuff is HS. God I wish maulers were elites.

Well, there are the 2000+ pt. Games so it's still possible to play 3 mauler's 3 forge's... But I agree, mauler's as elite would be awesome.

i needs some ranged power imo. your gonna have at least 2 turns for those hell brutes to do anything at all id rather leave um stock to at least have a multi melta shot. but dakka brutes are amazing. you just hope you pull off a fire frenzy to tear apart somthing that wanted to kill your ranged fire power

I'd love to run into that list with all my melta guns and missile launchers.

chaos lord, mon, black mace
sorcerer, burning brand
4x 5 plague marines, 2x melta, rhino w/havoc
3x havocs, 4x missile launcher, flakk
2x 3 chaos bikers, 2x melta
heldrake w/bale flamer

I like this list. I personally like to have a blob or two but plagues and bikes are the best msu units in the dex. How are those MLs with flakk working out? Taking one havoc with 4x Autos gives you 60pts to beef up those bikers with nurgly goodness. But it really depends on how many fliers you face down I guess.

that list's(the mauler fiend/hellbrute) weakness is not to melta or missile launchers but to TH/SS termites. It has no way to kill them off.

Your list might fair ok, but 3 squads of missile launchers isnt going to bring down those vehicles before they close in, and as they do close those helldrakes will roast your elite infantry, VS the rhinos open and then roast the havocs. Then you are going to have plaguemareins vs Hellbrutes, which is a pretty bad matchup for PM, as they are no better than GH against a hellbrute.

anyway your list is a more balanced one and shoudl do well in the tourney. good luck

I have lots of missile launchers, not so many autocannons. I could sub in my reapers for autocannons I guess since all my terminator arms are magnetized.

Typhus
a bucketful of Zombie cultists
3 Hellbrutes w/ 2xPF's
3 Maulerfiends
3 HellDrakes
1 Aegis w/ Quadcannon

It looks like a semi-monster mash list.
However, this army lacks long range fire support. There is no way to suppress enemy fire during the first one or two rounds. This makes the army extremely vulnerable to shooty armies. But generally I like the theme of this army.

something in a rhino that could speed ahead of the hellbrutes providing them cover would be nice.

Like I posted in the other thread

MoN Lord with brand
3x plague marines as troops
2x cultists
2x Heldrakes with Baleflamers
MoN Bikers
2x Autocannon Havocs

The OP's list looks scary, and against marines or other midrange armies I think it'd do a good job.

But biker marines, eldar, tau. guard, crons would all hover away laughing and shooting.

What surprises me here is the lack of a warpsmith, with a smallbodyguard unit to LOS! with. That repair would be useful almost every game with that many walkers.

They look like some sort of Ork gun?

I just did heavy bolters (that we should all have a ton of from the basic CSM boxes) and drilled out the barrel, put a plastic rod inside of the end of the barrel, then put one of the gargoyle heads on it from the CSM tank spures. Simple and effective.

Interesting list.. I can say my Maulerfiends either do incredibly well or horrible. I had a buddy not realize that my maulerfiend was basically wielding meltabombs as fists and i tore up a landraider turn 1

Meltabombs as fists? Fiend gets 2d6 armor pen?

The extra hits from the magma cutters get 2d6 not the fists.

I did something similar. Only instead of the plastic barrel, I put on the front end of assault cannons. Not quite the same gun in the book, but they cannot be mistaken for anything else. No one has complained yet, so just another option.

Personally, I like your version better as it matches what the autocannon is supposed to look like.
