I'm looking for that has a lot of infantry, but also has units which look really cool.

Along with some fairly big units.

I was thinking IG but im open to suggestions

Daemons;

a) lots of bodies since the army has only 1 'heavier' vehicle and 3 lightly armoured chariots.

b) 4 extremely unique looking asthetics between each of the Chaos Gods. For example, you can have rotting, grotesque looking Nurgle units alongside the slender and clean cut yet really wierd looking Slaaneshii units... Or mix in the twisted and 'what the hell is it anyways?!' look of Tzeentch or the animalistic and armoured look of Khornate units.

c) Lots of potential for 'counts as' and conversions! I mean, it is Chaos afterall!

d) Lots of big centerpiece models between the 4 Greater Daemons, Daemon Princes and the Soulgrinder and/or Chariots.

e) Very few people play Chaos Daemons, so most opponents will likely have little to no clue how to actually counter your army!

Chaos Imperial Guards.

The hobby advantage and selection of 2 armies, with plenty of opportunity to ally.

Sisters of Battle. Of course they look cool, there be women folk!
IG is pretty cool, my friend just started building his army parallel to mine, and his units look like Rambo waana-be's. But besides infantry they got cool vehicles and can "ally" a number of human factions.

Nids are really unique infantry looking units.

Eldar have lots of infantry, but from what I was warned about, very specialized infantry.

I may be a noob, but you sir are a noob hater!

Tau. The Fire Warriors are pretty easy to paint (so my friend says) and they are good at range. And you have some cool tanks.

By bolter and honour, by blood and fire, we shall cleanse this galaxy. By Vulkan, and by the Emperor, CHARGE!

Yo Dawgs, I heard you like grimdark, so I put grimdark in yo grimdark in yo grimdark in yo universe that is obviously grimdark.

Daemons, Guard, Orks and Nids are the main ones. Though the others can more or less be built to fit that idea as well.

Imperial Guard, but don't just look at Cadians and Catachans!
A well made/painting valhallan horde is awesome looking!
Also... we have all the tanks

But I think Guard is what you'd be looking for, its awesome!

Many people have said Orks - lots of infantry, lots of variation, depends if you like the look.

Imperial Guard do infantry very well, especially if you go down the route of conscripts. They tend to be quite regimented in their look.

Infantry Orks end up looking like a massive riot of colour whereas Guard tend to be a mass of identically uniformed troops. Depends what you favour.

I swear to god, if you want to play a infantry army with real character and versatility, play Orks.

Not guard, not nids.. Orks.

Best move of my life was moving from CSM to Orks. Sure they aren't top tier cheese armies like SM or IG, but I consistently win against my regular opponents (DE, IG, Necrons), because I know my book inside and out and understand what I can bring to the table.

If you want a true horde army that has the potential to be almost every other type of army in the book (Parking lot, flyer spam, Assault heavy, Mech, Gunline, Horde) then Orks are for you. If you want to solely rely on vehicles and meltaguns, go guard. If you want to swamp your opponent, set up firing lanes, counter charges, tactical cover (Grots, LAWL), then play Orks.

The biggest misconception about Orks is they are a simple, point and click army. This is true to a extent, but the fact is, with the current meta, and the overwhelming simplicity of the army, you have to think more tactically then the majority of other books.

Think of it this way: Anyone can pick up a SW, CSM, IG or GK book and lay down the hurt, but how many people have you seen pick up the Ork's book and go on to win their next battle?

Exactly. I know you will make the right decision.

If you want a ton of Infantry, footsloggin' Orks are definitely one way to go. but with the guard, you can field a squad (9 guys and a sergeant) for only like 50 points. If you can afford to buy a lot of squads its a good way to go for infantry. Orks are way more fun though

WAAAGH!!!

Orks were a blast to play. So much dakka. Putting a big shoota on a nob leader and go sniping. Every 6 is a precision shot and they hit on 5 and 6's anyway. Not an every game thing but fun non the less.
