RAAAARRRGGGGHHHHH...2

I wanted a bit more contrast between the skin and armour from my last attempt at a Hellbrute. This scheme is a bit more traditional for a Black Legionnaire.

That looks STUNNING! Really good job, especially on the organic bits. The black is actually interesting and the limited palette has worked amazingly well. I have one of these to paint, if it turns out half as good as this I'll be more than happy!

Could you give me a quick guide on how you did the black and metal colors?

That looks horrible - you can send it to me for disposal.

Awesome looking Helbrute! My only bit of criticism is that the "gills" on the back just aren't popping, IMHO. Personally, I'd like to see a little bit of color contrast there; like some reds or something. Other than that, it looks outstanding!

Sweet HB, LL! The contrast between skin and armor works really well. As does your sweet muted color palette.

Thats some awesome washing you got there! If you cared much to start a nurgle army, that skin would work perfectly! Nice job, really impressed.

Nasty! Fantastic work, the fleshy feeling makes my skin crawl, this thing is genuinely gross, and that is a compliment!

Cheers guys, I;m thrilled you like the miniature.

The faded black was created by highlighting the black with Reaper master series aged bone (bleached bone would be fine). I use the dusting technique to undercoat the miniature, paint all the armour sections with aged bone, then shade with black. I also use oil paint to help with smooth the tranision between the shade and highlight.

I have a few photos of a black templar dreadnought I was working on that uses this highlighting technique. I'll try and scrape together a tutorial from that.

All the best

I like the eyes on the armor being cloudy instead of having pupils. Way to break the mold.

I like the aged black armour, but it's the organic parts that really stand out. It's a nice contrast to your other model with the bluish flesh. I think the fleshy one is better looking, but the bluish one makes the armour-to-flesh transition seem more subtle.
