There is a great deal of difference between an autistic individual, especially with a low incidence, and "slowed" (which I never said or implied and is a term that I abhor).
Most of my students will never understand social cues and "faces" that neuro-typical individuals make as part of normal conversation. But tell them or let them read even once that GW or New Line does not allow mixing of parts, and they will believe and repeat it, as well as never even entertain the notion of mixing said parts.
It's just the way their brains are wired. Try to find out which day of the week April 14th 2047 is faster than one of them (or do differentials in your head, like another who's 13), and you'll never doubt their potential for certain things.

Sorry Mathieu, but you're categorically wrong there. The cue is that it's that ASD is a wide spectrum. People with Autism or Aspbergers are also not read-once robots, and they certainly do have the capacity to learn, self-correct, take on new information, adjust attitudes and so forth - whether they also have an ID or not.
It's much more likely that the young individual in question is simply a dick. For more examples of said behaviour/attitudes, I invite you to log into World of Warcraft (even on a trial account) and spend some time in Stormwind with all the global channels turned on.
edit - I see you're talking about your students specifically. In that case I can't say that you're categorically wrong, but that you're most likely selling them far short.

scipio.au wrote: Kanluwen wrote:Paint jobs, from what I remember, were not an issue.
Just conversions.
I do not know why it was an issue as I do not recall ever seeing it explained.
Simply put - it was about New Line not wanting people to use Warhammer models to proxy into LOTR games, and vice versa. Perhaps they were paid royalties on volume of sales back in the first wave of Fellowship products? That's also why LotR were initially much smaller than GW's figures and close in size and proportion to true 28mm. Since then there has been some significant scale creep, especially on things like SKODA and stuff taken from the books rather than the films... Not sure of The Hobbit figures have reset the scale back to true 28mm.
This was always my understanding. New Line knew they were dealing with a miniatures producer who has their own extensive line of fantasy minis, a producer who (at the time) also did a lot of business selling bits for conversions, and NL didn’t want their special unique licensed minis to become functionally just another couple of armies and sources of parts within the Warhammer line. New Line may have gotten a percentage off sales of the rules as well, and no doubt wanted the mini game to help promote the films, and didn’t want the LotR stuff to be subsumed into the larger pool of WH stuff. Functionally, after all, one elven bowman or goblin with a spear can of course be easily substituted for another. New Line didn’t want their special LotR minis to be like Mantic or something- used primary (or substantially) just as alternate figs for Warhammer.
Anyway, as for the original question, sure you have some basis to be annoyed. It’s a bad attitude and unprofessional. Whether it’s worth complaining about comes down to how invested you in the store and whether there’s any benefit to you, really. If the store is convenient to you, and some place you like having as a shopping option, and/or if you are friendly with the owners, the subject may be worth raising in terms of helping them make their store better. As other people said, the tone of the conversation shouldn’t be “fire this moron”, it should be, “Hey, I had an unpleasant interaction with your employee, who was kind of rude, and his negativity and misinformation actively discouraged me from spending money at your store. It might help your business if you revisit some basic customer service training with him.”

scipio.au: quite right, I was only posting about the kids in my class. I'm proud as hell when we can finally push one out into a regular classroom (to be integrated). The lower-level classroom next door, however, will never have kids that can cross the streets unassisted. Trust me, and I'm sure you've heard it more than once, we know Rain Man was a movie, more than anything else.
As for your suggestion of a WoW membership, I'll take your word on it. Minis don't paint themselves, after all.
Yes, he was probably just a rude employee, but it doesn't hurt to sometimes offer an alternative viewpoint. And I totally agree with your last sentence, Mannhanin, even if it is weeks later.

Wouldn't bother me too much to be honest, I'd probably mentally file the employee under the 'TFG/Having a bad day' category and carry on with my business.
If it happened a second time I would probably send a normal, non-rant letter to the store owner/manager outlining the issue with his member of staff, and let him know that myself & friends will be shopping elsewhere if it happens again.

I remember being s happy when i finally went off into a regular classroom. Know that i look back, all those honor roll stickers pre-highschool meant nothing. I was to smart for special ed. But they kept me there.
But whether or not the Employee had cognitive problems is mute. We do not know that, So its likely he was a jerk or had a bad day. I know I can be grumpy at work when I had a bad day(Like when my boss gets mad i have to leave for class, after giving me an hour long job to do ten minutes before i have to leave)
But yu just look a the "Guest"(Remember, Not Customer) and smile.

He sounds like the kind of childish mind who seems to always have 'an uncle working at SONY/Nintendo/Microsoft' who told him, for sure, that you can 'cook your dinners on the next console and that it's powerful enough to shift time and space around itself, thus remaining dust free'.
Don't go back, except for fun and amusement. Ididn't even know we had FLGS' here in Blighty
