I'll be honest, I was a bit skeptical about 40k when I had first heard about it a few months back. A co-worker and good friend of mine would constantly talk about it at work; how it worked and showed me some of the models he had painted. Once I saw the game in action on Mini War Gamings Youtube I was sold. My good friend than recommended that I should start off slow, offering to go 50/50 on the Dark Vengeance bundle. With enough models to "technically" play out of the box I said; "why not?". So $150 later ( This is my half of DV, some tools, Chaos codex a box of Chaos Space Marines ) I am sucked in, not overwhelmed by any means.

Before I set off on my adventure of a first game I decided to read the codex. I was always told that most of the Warhammar lore was a good read. THAT WAS TRUE. Every page I turned I wanted to learn more and more and more about the game and its unique background. I have never found this before with any other game. With this being my first table top game I am extremely satisfied. The community as well! I just joined this forum and it seems like everyone takes well to newcomers. It is great having all of my questions answered so promptly and accurately from people that honestly do enjoy the game and getting people into it. I thank my good friend Tyrus for referring me to this forum and getting me into this game! One of the most satisfying experiences I have had so far was seeing my friends face as I smiled while taking one of hIs Champions with my Hellbrute. Which leads me to the reason I posted this ( I will apologize ahead of time if this is the wrong thread ).

I am going to be as blunt as possible.
*RIGHT OUT OF BOX DARK VENGEANCE*
(Chaos VS Dark Angels)

We rolled for a game of Hellfire Stone

I won (SURPRISINGLY!)

I had the time of my life

The game itself had lasted a couple of hours; which is pretty long for a game of this size as far as I know. It was long and well fought. Also, it was a fairly fast paced. Considering the fact that I am a new player. There was not a lot of referring to books and what not. I am aware though that in larger scale battles and different game types play time will vary and what not. But overall as one of my first real games I have to say I had a really great time. I cannot wait to start painting as well! This will become one of my addictions. And this is a good thing. A awesome hobby that is going to keep me out of trouble. Who knows?; maybe Ill be back on this forum in a year or so with an awesome finished Chaos Army.

Welcome aboard!

It's a great hobby, and Chaos has always been one of the most interesting and fun armies, IMO. The "lore" GW has developed for it over the years is definitely one of 40k's more enduring and powerful bits.

Welcome to 40k! Please keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times.

If you have another game sometime soon, go ahead and take a few pictures and post it in the battlerep section! We'd love to read through it and give some tactical advice.

Oh I am fully aware! I will actually be playing another game today! Going to be inviting a friend over that has yet to play. Lets hope I can get more people into the hobby just as my friend got me into it. Shouldn't be that hard; considering the fact that no one can resist DAKKA!
