The Banner bearers thighs are far too small to hold up his body, he looks like he'd sink into the ground, or his spine would snap under the stress.

It's not terrible, but it isn't a great looking model..

pssst order from anywhere but GW and you can get 20-25% off! If you are in MTL head over to Gamers-Co-Op or Gamers Vault!

But ya the prices at this point for us are nearing Australian levels of silly...

On topic, I like the stuff for the most part, but I dislike the hyper gothic touches on the speeders and the planes especially, I would not use them in assembly... just too isolated and over the top... If the design DNA was distributed over the entire model and not isolated to this tiny clusters of gothic I would be open to it though.

I like some of the touches they have added to make them unique, like the gothic arch shapes on the terminator targetters and the helmet/back arch, the weapons look pretty sweet, and the seams on the shoulder pads really please me too.

I find the paint scheme generally uninspiring though, there really seems to be oppurtunity to do so much more with it both in terms of quality and imagination while still leaving them super clearly Deathwing. I find the white/bone in particular to be flat and severely lacking in contrast. I very much look forward to seeing the work of pro painters outside of GW on these models.

Belial looks weird to me, I barely even noticed he was in termi armor, making him stand straight up like that takes away all the bulk of the armor... that, combined with the overall boringness of the pose make it a fail for me, although everything else seems quite nice.

I wish they had given some PA and non-flyer love too... though, I can definitely picture using some of those Ravenwing helmets! RT Corvus pattern is awesome!

GW really should try out some new poses....

I adore that Terminator kit.

Such a shame that the Land Speeder Escalade's passenger seat is filled with that needless cathedrally crap. I would rather have the gunner there than in that stupid leg-chopping forward mount.

But don't you also make twice the wages of Americans, like us here in Oz (and Japan, and NZ, and Brazil and everywhere else that has whacko prices)? It's all down to what your country's minimum wage is, after all.

(/cynical sarcasm)

In contrast to themselves, but consider the contrast to a full DA army that has troops from the various branches. That white/bone would be in stark contrast to the dark green of the rank-and-file, and the black of the Ravenwing.

It wouldn't be so bad if the option for just a regular sword was in there, but the only one is the one pointing into the ground.

I'm a painter man, I judge contrast by model unto itself... there is nothing wrong with the scheme, DA were in fact my first love and painting project in 40k since I was 8... worked on them for 12 years or so.

Just the white, taken on it's own, is extremely flat and rudimentary, you would not be winning any GD's with it I think. A little gradation up from a more leathery brown, done extremely subtly so as not to disrupt or distract from the fact it is meant to be white, would have been so much better...

Like this (TALKING WHITE PAINT ONLY HBMC! lol)-

Actually, that model's paint scheme (which I think is what Tom was using it to illustrate) blows GW's studio one out of the water, imo.

Some models are nice, some aren't, but oh, those prices...

And did anyone else giggle at this bit in Sammael's description?

lol we were talking ways to paint white dude, not poses lol!

The pose stinks, the white has better nuance than the GW scheme imo is all I was getting at -

lol, the legs on those termis look ridiculous

I'm liking the look of most of the ravenwing bikers, though.

I most likely won't start Dark Angles, but I know that if I ever get around to making my custon chapter, I'll be using some of the bits in these Dark Angel kits!

Wow. I like the Vengeance and the Talon and Belial a lot more than I thought I would....pleasant surprise. Termies are a must now and the Ravenwing I'm definitely going to be reading the rules on. I'm pleased but with the rumors I thought there'd be another Azreal kitted out kinda like Calgar. And with some of the other mentioned units I thought we'd be seeing more than this. Hopefully this is a first wave, but only the codex will tell.

Another miss for me, silly models made to look mediocre by a slapdash paint job. Do Citadel actually DESIGN models anymore or just put wings on everything and call it a Dark Angel...?

The range isnt totally without merit but its another disappointing release IMO

What was next? Chaos Daemons?

I don't think it's a sweat band. More of an Angel Wing Princess Tiara.

These... The flyer without the Baroque crap is pretty decent. I also like the halberd and the plasma cannon on the Termies. Asmodai and Belial are pretty good. I understand that they're trying to go for the renaissance/baroque/whatever feel with the DA, but they've gone way overboard with some of it. It's all kind of moot, as I'm terribly unlikely to buy them.

Overall, most of these models don't really do anything for me.
