So, me and my friends have all started war hammer armies. At first the prices where pretty steep ($56 NZD for a pack of Kabalites), but when I went to do my Christmas shopping for my friend ( who plays tau) the price of a basic fire warrior pack had gone from $64(usual) to $80($16 more) and the funny thing is that only DE, tau, space orks and chaos daemon have had price changes. I asked the manager, and he said that "he had nothing to do with it" what on earth does that mean? It a one of shop and he runs the place? I have considered buy stuff from discount stores, but sipping to NZ is a b*tch.

"Archon Yulliptidon sat apon a throne made of polished glass, which gleamed with magnificence in the rays of the dying suns, beautifully suspended above the the many razor sharp peaks that where Commorragh. The archon held within his hands a a delicate pyramid of sculpted crystal, from which emitted a faint glow, an echo of the soundless screams of pain belonging to countless tortured souls forever trapped within. The room in which the archon sat in was something like a throne room, but displayed apon the walls where helm of every color, but all the same in size and shape. Some bore eagles on their foreheads, and others still contained the decapitated heads of their previous owners. Two huge, beautifully carved iron double doors, engraved with intricate runes of pain and suffering, opened at the far end of the room, to reveal a tall, elegant dark eldar warrior, clad in armor made from bone and flesh. "lord Yulliptidon, you asked for my presence?" Said the arrival, " to what do I owe the pleasure?". The archon raised his elongated head, skin as pale as a full moon, eyes as vivid as a horrible nightmare. " I did not ask for you, Thrayon, I ordered your presence. Do not think to much for your self, for truly, you are not much past a feral that one would find on the streets. As for why I have ordered you to my palace, it is because their is a task that I wish you to preform. I wish you and you kabal to cleanse the imperial out fort of Sargosain Gastienagan." Thrayon was both aghast and interested at what the archon had just said. "Such a task would stretch my kabal to its limits, only a great reward would be enough to do a deed like this." Yulliptidon was outraged by the the proposal of a "great reward" by Thrayon, but did not let his anger show, hiding it with a cold smile that hid his evil intentions surprisingly well. The archon was was famous for never telling a lie in his life, but was very fond of veiled double speak, and this was no exception. "Do not worry, Thrayon, you shall receive what you deserve." Thrayon, happy with this outcome, left to carry out Yulliptidons task. Little did he know what was coming. Thrayon had done a thousand evil deeds, and what he deserved was a horrible death equal to to all those he had caused. Yulliptidons smiled. He was going to have fun."

why is it on him? its not *his* store. He is only the manager - all he does is run the place, and he gets told what to sell, and at what price by GW HQ. Also, please note Oz and new zealand generally get hosed by GWs archaic currency conversion pricing system.

And yeah, GW are infamous for constantly raising prices. i got into the hobby 10 years ago and compared to then, prices now are ridiculous. and the prices that i paid for at the time, that i thought wee *ok* were too high by vets who had started ten years before me.

So yeah, it might sound rude, but it you want to play 40k, you either have to deal with high (and escalating prices) or look online for discount retailers, risk the second hand markets or look into investing in other wargames that could, potentially, be cheaper.

So now we're blaming GW for FLGS managers for increasing the prices of things?

$80nz is $16nz more than the GW price. The FLGS manager raised the price above RRP. This has nothing to do with GW.

OP - buy from US online stores like Dicebucket - you'll get fantastic value. Play somewhere else. Or play there and stick it to him, I guess.

My FLGS is increasing the price THEY sell warhammer. GW has nothing to do with it. The manager of my FLGS has everything to do with it. It's not part of a chain, and he founded and owns the place.

So you mean your FLGS should keep selling at same price when GW raise theirs (wich your FLGS pay for) should make no money out of it? it's how the world works if the Source is more expensive the others gonna follow cuz they still make money.

The price was raised beyond the already crazy Aussie price GW has set.

If so, ordering sounds like a better option

Best option I can say is for you to look online. Try ebay , many folks have luck with it.

It's like you guys are intentionally missing what the OP is saying.

The store is raising the prices independently of GW, and if they're charging that much for Fire Warriors then they are (as Loki said) charging more than even GW does for that kit.

Archon Tobias: Ditch the local retail rat race. Find a US retailer (like Dicebucket, and there are others as well, and group orders with your friends to places like Frontline Games) and save yourself some money.

Best advice right here. If the store sucks and charges exorbitant prices, shop somewhere else.

GW's price hikes happen every so often, yes; I have found, however, that they tend to come with corresponding increases in model quality and adjusted for inflation they haven't actually been as significant as the griping seems to indicate.

In this case, I have to apologize, and suggest using a different retailer, online or physical. That said, I'd still suggest finding a better system. With the prices you guys pay for GW down there, I'm amazed that some of you could even touch it with a 50-foot-pole.
