Just reading through this months White Dwarf, and I noticed something, on page 77 The post battle review, and I quote.. 'Not only is Jeremy the author of the new Codex, but also the writer of more than his fair share of scenarios.'

So were all the rumours of Mat Ward being the author unfounded? Were they just successful attempts at trolling Mat Ward?

But the rumours on Vetock writing the Codex were correct

Vetock is a good writer, if fantasy is anything to go by. You're in good hands, rules and fluff-wise.

Previous statement is not a Ward-bash; merely a for Vetock.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Vetock actually has been a pretty good writer for fantasy.

However, remember that Mr. Cruddace writes some pretty average to decent codex's in fantasy. So don't rely on former knowledge so much.

Well, Vetock's Skaven Army Book also holds the current title for the GW-supplement with the longest FAQ and most Errata (some 9 pages), though Kelly's Space Wolves Codex (7 pages) still holds that title for 40K.

Let's hope they had some more veteran 40K guys double-check his Dark Angels rules for "RAW-abuse-potential"

That was Vetock's first book anyway (Skaven). I'd sooner blame his proof readers, as he's supposed to get help from higher ups on his first project. If he continued making the same errors, I'd blame him, but on a first go...he can be forgiven. And I'd say that for any author.

Fair enough. His subsequent Warhammer Fantasy books improved.

But this is his first 40K book, so there might be the risk of him similarly doing rules that - while well-intentioned - aren't phrased "abuse-proof".

I don't know jack about WFB, but the RAW-fanatics in 40K can be one mean bunch.

WFB players are usually more laid back. And you're right, 1st 40k book is still 1st 40k book. But didn't he also help on the BRB? That should probably mitigate 1st codex jitters.

Rumors of Matt Ward being involved on the Dark Angels were unfounded, praise the Emperor; we might have a book with readable fluff!
