Double Slann seems nice on paper but in reality you won't have enough power dice for them. So you end up wasting a large chunk of points thats really paying so you have 2 different spell lores at your disposal. And at 700ish points total that is a little overpriced for what you get.

On average, you get 9 energy dice which is a pretty good deal considering you're only short 3 of the maximum. And for 700ish points, you get to dominate the most important phase of the game with a lvl 4 and troll of life lore.

The best thing about double Slann is that it gives you a lot of redundancy, you give up the total mastery of one lore in exchange for a really good toolbox. It comes down to what you want to do really, personally I'm a big fan of double Slann as you can make them both very cost-efficient at 2400pts due to their free discipline.

I've beat Double Slann in the only time I played it. It wasn't easy. Fateweaver with final trans was the key, you can avoid becalming with it's 36" range.

Were the Slann in units? Another trick is to get within 24" to Dweller the unit, but not within 24" of the Becalming Slann.

yup. Once one was gone, the other dropped since my BSB was a life mage.
I didn't think of that, that's pretty slick.

It's hilarious when your mage stays 24'' from his unit but like 25'' from the slann and IF that improved purple sun. Oh dear. I laughed. Oh, that's a hit? Hahaha.

Pit of shades? Purple sun would need an eight or more on the artillery die to get there.

He'll also get a Look Out, Sir! when it gets there unless he's not in a unit. Still, if you can whittle down the unit he's in it's a 50/50 chance of getting him which is pretty good bet.

Backseat moderating...
I already PM'd a mod and since he considered it to be worthwhile to have, I don't see what's wrong with discussing the armies that make (and break) the top tier.
