Bit surprised not to see this on Dakka but rumours are flying (haha) around that the next release will not be Chaos Daemons (shame, i was looking forward to Plastic GDs) but is in fact a new Flyer Wave comprising of flyers for:
Eldar
Tau
Tyranid (Harpy)
Dark Eldar (Void Raven)

Apparently these come from Faeit12 so i make no assumptions on accuracy or legitamacy but was surprised to see it not mentioned.....

Thoughts?

You should Faeits post right after the one you read. It indicates that Daemons are sitll in feb and flyers in march

Aah ok, to be fair i didnt look at the source. It was mentioned by somebody on the book of Faces. I just figured it was defintiely news worthy.

March is good by me, i have a DE army waiting to be painted and that will be just the motivation i need to get on with it.

I'm hoping the Harpy is a Dual kit, with an Anti-Flyer variant.

From what i read it was single kit only. But maybe they'll FAQ it to maybe it more anti-flyer.

Not to derail the thread but i cant believe they haven't produced a plastic Thunderhawk yet, they must be scared of money.....

If the Tau flier is true I wouldn't be surprised if they were afraid of money.

Highest Strength weapon is S6 so its useless as anti-air. And only offers a more expensive and weaker Crisis suit missile platform.

Err, most recent Tyranids rumour was the Harpy would be a dual kit with the current anti-infantry variant, and a new anti-air and anti-vehicle variant.

Dual Impaler Cannons would be badass.

Just be ready to drop $75 per model since DA is obviously setting the stage.

Makes sense. Tyranid players have been paying that price for similar sized models since the last price hike.

and i fully expect to see the Storm Talon and Razorwing 'adjusted' for the next one....

Your scaring me. I had high hopes for the Eldar flyer.........

I've got no doubt the Eldar flyer, whenever they get it, is going to look fantastic. They rarely botch an Eldar vehicle (granted, it's been a while since they made one). I'm not too worried about the Harpy either, because they seem to nail every big Tyranid model.

The Tau flyer, on the other hand... Not sure. It's got the same potential as Marines do for cocking up the model.

Fortunately they already have models for Eldar flyers at FW. Although I guess they could radically depart from the established look-n-feel.

So, it will be the "Spring of Fliers", then, will it?

Ah remember the good old days when you didn't have to sell your left kidney to buy a flyer to stay competitive...I don't, off to my dialysis appointment only got one of these puppies left...

Earlier today we had a rumor leak that was saying that flyers are on their way. Of course I have been inquiring with a few people that are in the loop on any details or confirmations. Well a confirmation came in, with a few adjustments.

Even if the kit isn't a duel kit (as the rumor suggests), they could very well take advantage of the "Stranger variants have been reported amonst the vanguard of Hive Fleet Jormungandr" bit in the Harpy's fluff section to include a few new weapon options (could easily see Brainleech Devourers or perhaps some brand new weapons - could perhaps be the final product of the "unknown biomorph" sketch in the Tyranids section of the main rulebook).

Still, even if they leave it as is I'd be extremely excited just to have an offical Harpy model that could be fielded. I have a really difficult time swallowing the cost of the typical winged Tyrant (let alone two, though they do look cool) under 2000 point games, so the prospect of something that is 100 points cheaper with a similar "highly mobile swiss army knife" function is quite appealing.

There is artwork of a harpy in the first full page spread of the new dark angel codex. Could be nothing but its a nifty little Easter egg.

Hmm... I thought that was a winged Hive Tyrant, damn not having White Dwarf to hand......

I don't think tau will get a flyer, mainly because their codex should be around may, not long after the supposed flyer release, but that's just a guess.
