Oh Nerd, how I'd LOVE to do that! I've been walking around in-game, specifically the Fairfax ruins area, taking tons and tons of screenshots, studying not just the buildings, but everything. Unfortunately translating that stuff into models poses a lot of problems. And the terrain is hardly flat either, many of the roads are angled, while the buildings are up on raised foundations





Which would totally kick ass on a model, but presents a lot of "how to build it" problems. That geometric concrete pattern intrigues me, I'd like to find an easy way to replicate it, and in mass quantities. Something like laser=etched wooden panels ala MAS Infinity stuff.

Now that is just stunning the ground work is much better and ties it in together, the billboard is just a work of art can we have a how to on the picture part ?

The only small gripe I have I know can you believe it but the car, it needs a little debris around it IMHO maybe a few car part looking bits lying around as if it is being stripped slowly.

@LDD- I printed it on a laser printer first, then designed the billoboard construction around that, constantly holding it up as a reference. then when the billboard was painted, I pressed it against all the glue drops on my cutting mat for embossed bump texture, then used a scriber to start scratching cracks and tears in the paper and started tearing corners and edges with my finger. Once you slather it with PVA glue, the scribed tears become 3d, the uneven panel cracks make the paper conform and you can work them while the glue is still wet. Finally add light washes of brown all over, and black only where I wanted the darkest shadow in the tears. I also used in-game screenshots as a reference as to approximately where the tears might be.

put a glass dome on it and then head off to the museeum!!!

seeing all your earlier masterworks that now fit so neatly together to build this whole scene of awesomeness... spectacular! and you do know that it is in the ned inevitable to go down that route and you will come up with more excuses to build small(ish) scenes of FO3 and one day you will realize that you secretly built a whole jigsaw of scenes that together then would make the afore mentioned whole table...regardless of all the atm seen obstacles... one day it is finished...wether you want it, plan it or fear it it will happen... actually i can see it happen not too far from now

well...but you aren´t the guy that would keep happy just with what you currently have on stock......

Oh sure I would, that's why I stockpile, so when inspiration strikes, I've got the materials on hand. It sucks stopping to go out and get supplies.

wouldn´t underestimate dave´s knowledge of FO3 ingame graphics and settings and mechanics there... i bet he has so much time spent in this game... our complete times spent in this one wouldn´t have a chance to compete^^

I'm seriously considering going back to FO3. Maybe once I get bored of Skyrim again. I tried to go back to NV but got fed up of it crashing all the time, so went to Skyrim.

O.k this is how it's going to work Dave, next year I'm off to Hawaii with NerdWench, the year after I'm going to Sweden for a week to hang out with Pyriel, so the next year I'm coming to your place for a week! and what are we going to do? yes, build a board that uses your Fallout knowledge! (and you can show me the game!) so, take a week off work and get ready for the REAL Nerdfest! Dave & Damo style lol!
