I'm on IE9 and no problems with the embedded videos - if you do change to Firefox (other browsers are available) then as far as I know you favourites go with you - I did this on my laptop before the hard-drive died and didn't lose anything - but since I had the new HDD I haven't moved away from IE9, although obviously everything was wiped so am starting from scratch again
well...i make no big story out of my fear to loose everything due to a change of browser ...(fear is irrational...) so i am atm sticking still with IE8...yeah i know...i should do something about that...
Upgrade to IE9 - you won't lose anything... Should also sort out your youtube issues
BTW, by happy coincidence - my boy out of the blue decided to put Star Wars IV: A New Hope on, so we're just settling down to watch it over a good hearty roast beef Sunday lunch - good days
