The tactic thread tends to cater to competitive gamers.

Ravenwing can field an above average amount of melta at almost any point value.
Pure Deathwing will suffer against AV14 but a mixed force with some Ravenwing/Greenwing will not be lacking in ways to kill tanks. This codex gave DA players a much bigger incentive to diversify their lists.

6th edition wants diversity (aside from cron/ig air) for all armies. Though honestly I don't know there are some very spammy lists for DA that i can think of.
Personally I play chaos and the only thing the scares me in the entire dex are the termies. I really just don't know a good way to deal with T5 2+/3++

Plasma Havocs, or is that not around anymore? Also, with some good charge positioning you can deny them their t5. Secondly, since they all have maces they're only str 6 aside from their smite attack, so through a dread at them as a speed bump, then after they use their smite to get out of it hand them their asses with some regular terminators, or anything else that as a 3+ and can get past their 2+.

I can't say I like the thematic direction; it really is a Raven/Deathwing codex, so there really isn't much love for the other 8 companies of Dark Angels, or their successors, but the actual mechanics seem solid and interesting.
There's a lot of obvious synergy between unit types, and the wargear options are exhaustive, interesting, and don't seem overpowering. They've also made a lot of normal Marine units more viable; cheap as chips Librarians seem great, as Librarians really are lackluster for vanilla marines at the moment.
In short, the weaker units are better, Deathwing and Ravenwing are awesome, Greenwing isn't bad, but nowhere near as good as the 'wings. The only thing that'll suck is facing a Deathwing army with Chaos Space Marines. It makes thematic sense, much like how Grey Knights bend Daemons over, but I can't imagine it'd be terribly fun for a Chaos player to endure, but time will tell on that front.
As for myself, there's some changes which I hope my vanilla Marines benefit from in some capacity, but I don't think my Guard has much to worry about from Dark Angels. In particular, the codex seems to lack much in the way of reliable anti-armour, at least that most people will bring. Short of assaulting with terminators, there's a distinct lack of melta, lascannons and other shooting attacks which can defeat AV14. I suppose that makes some sense, as the focus of the army really seems to be killing elite infantry armies, given the wargear and statline for most of their units.
I'd be very curious to see how they survive versus a tank-heavy list, and a horde army.
One of the best summaries of new DA ive read. My thoughts exactly. I definitely think I need to find a way to fit better Anti-Armour into my list!

the best thing i have seen - unless its about to get changed - is that my mate who plays sw has to pay 175 ish points for a 5 man long fang squad with lascannons. DA pay 150 for 4 lascannons and get the signum as standard. just a little treat for me..

Except what SW player takes LCs on LFs? They're incredibly over-priced so it's no wonder the DA squad gets it cheaper.

Triple Ecto, Triple Oblits dropping Plasma cannons, Zombies to tie them up, volume of plasma, etc etc.
The Chaos dex has plenty of ways to deal with DWK.
